I have never been more incensed at a furniture salesman in my life. I can’t believe we actually asked for this guy since he had spent time with us a few weeks earlier. The bait and switch on discounts and financing thrown out by the salesman over two days during the Thanksgiving sale, was outrageous. We started out on Black Friday, after I asked him to talk to the manager, with what I understood was a deal for 20% off and free financing. That was accommodating of the manager since the 20% was only good earlier in the morning. However, I didn’t want another credit account so we decided to go home and think it over. When we decided to pay off an existing account and use their free financing, we called the store and told them how we would proceed. That’s when the discount went away for using their financing offer. He claims he had explained the either or deal earlier, but neither my wife nor I, ever heard it. Again, we said we would think it over since that was a substantial cost to use their plan. Today, we decided to just buy the furniture and use an existing credit card. I called the store and said we would be down in an hour to pick it up. As the paperwork was being done, he advised me the discount of 20% was no longer available but we could have 10%. That was never mentioned on the phone. I’m not stupid and I’m not deaf. Three changes in price and each time very poor communication on his part. I just loved the exercise of hauling my trailer over 25 miles to pick up the new couch and instead being offered a load of BS. Had he just given me the 20% and no financing he said was available yesterday, we’d be sitting on our new couch right now. Instead, I’m placing myself on the list of very disappointed non-customers.
