Had breakfast here, their blueberry pancakes were really good — fluffy, buttery and soft. They were big too, I got two and couldn’t finish the second one. My husband had an omelette. He loved their hot sauce. I’m not sure if they make it or buy it but it was pretty good. They don’t accept credit cards so take cash along.

Went there today and got lunch and ordered the daily fast lunch option which was turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing and it included banana pudding. Overall service was outstanding. Food was fabulous and the environment was wonderful. I will be a return customer and encourage anyone new to the area to visit this fabulous establishment.

No credit cards. A la carte nickel and dime-ing. Probably location is the best part, but not worth a second visit.

3 things you should know 1) bring cash they do not take credit cards 2) the food is good and fast 3) do not expect cheese unless you request it and it will cost you $.70 extra. Cheese lovers beware!

Good overall. Wanted to give it 4 stars, but nothing wowed me. Had 2 egg w/bacon, hash browns, and biscuits w/gravy. Our table also had similar plates and short stack was added. Really thin bacon and very small portion of hash browns, but they were good. Service was good, food was good, prices a little high for amount and quality of food, but nothing spectacular. Pancakes were the highlight. Maybe would go here again, but wouldn’t really be the first place I’d recommend.

This is a new-to-me breakfast spot in Kerrville. This place takes me back to old-fashioned cafes. It is really clean and well organized. We came at 10:30 and were told no biscuits. No problem. I was going to order the blueberry pancake based on another review. If it tastes as good as it looks, this place is a winner.

Great service! Friendly faces. Blueberry pancakes were amazing. Biscuits are a bit crumbly however the gravy is what gravy snlhould be. The bacon was crisped to perfection. Omelette was a bit runny and possibly to cheese. That might be because the egg was runny. I would go again though.

Great service here. A charming little hole in the wall place. Breakfast was a great plate of biscuits and gravy with a side order of eggs. Good place to stop

We went to this place because of reviews on Unilocal and now I’m wondering who really is writing the reviews? The food was just average, nothing to brag about. My friend ordered sausage and couldn’t even eat it — said it was wasn’t good at all. She also got egg shell in her scrambled eggs. The service was ok, nothing to brag about. Sorry, but when I want a really good breakfast in Kerrville I won’t be going back to Hill Country Café.

Great place for breakfast! We stumbled upon this place during our NYE weekend getaway. It sits on the site of the original HEB grocery store(cool little trivia bit). Everyone was very welcoming when we walked through the door and we were seated right away. We had an omlette and a short stack with bacon. Coffee was plentiful and the ladies kept our mugs full at all times. The omlette had fresh ingredients and fluffy eggs, perfectly seasoned. The pancakes were super fluffy and the bacon perfectly crispy. Service was fast and friendly; the food was hearty and tasty. Would definitely recommend this place.

For good, bountiful American food this place is hard to beat in the downtown area. Sandwiches, burgers, plates, breakfast. Decent prices and decent food.

Felt like I was in Mayberry. Wait staff is a good example of southern California sun babies that were put out to pasture. The music was from a jam box with aluminum foil on the antenna. So much for the décor in a quaint town know for music festivals. Now the food is a different story. The onion rings were in house cut battered then cooked. They were thick cut with a great batter. I got a chicken fried steak sandwich. They used a mundane cube steak but battered here before frying. Seemed to be the same batter as the onion rings. So I was happy — fried perfectly not so dry I chucked. The bun was grill toasted perfectly crispy. One of coworkers got a tuna salad sandwich. She was impressed minimal mayo and fillers. All in all interesting place won’t come back but glad I did it once(gee like so many things in my life!)

This is a tiny restaurant, right in the heart of downtown Kerrville. From the look of the sign, you can tell it’s an established part of the area. Inside, it’s a local’s gathering spot, an «everybody knows your name» type place. Efficient waitresses banter jovially with the customers while refilling your coffee cup. Breakfast and lunch are served daily. The breakfast tacos are excellent, and pancakes are plate-size. If you want a treat, go for the handmade cinnamon buns proudly showcased as you enter from the outside. Ask for one heated up! If you’re there for lunch, make sure you look at the refrigerator case for the day’s selection of homemade pies… you might just want a salad for lunch and end up with dessert! The atmosphere is typical café-style, but if it is «home cookin’» you want, fast, efficient and well priced, this is worth a stop.
