I’m sorry. I just can’t. I really can’t. Don’t order anything but the Phở. We came here because most of the other Asian restaurants in Kent were closed, and we’d had their Phở before so figured it’d be cool to try the other food. No. The water smells like bleach. The soup is mysterious and GREASY. I couldn’t help but wonder what scraps were in my soup. It was so odd. So off. I gave it 3 spoonfulls but couldn’t finish it. I got the single combo: swimming angel chicken, Phad Thai chicken, crab Rangoon, fried rice, and the weird soup. Our crab rangoon was totally overcooked and the dipping sauce was watered down. The Phad Thai tasted like Asian Spaghetti-Os and it had a mushroom aftertaste. And the chicken… it was like thick lunch meat chicken. Just… Odd. Combo price was definitely too good to be true. I hate that the food was so horrible. The older man at the counter is so sweet. Don’t order anything but the Phở.

New owner and name. Boonmar Thai or something. Same good food and service. No alcohol. I have seen the old owner in there making sure everything is up to snuff.

The servers here are very friendly! and welcoming. The cook actually came out and talked to me and my friend about the food, but i got no complaints about customer’s service for this place. I love their Pad Thai, and curry, pretty much i like their thai food better than their Vietnamese food. Their bubble tea is a let down, if you would like a beverage, try their Mango Lemonade.

They are actually Boonmar Thai & Phở now. Check out my review on the Boonmar Thai & Phở page.

Pros… the service. Shawn the owner has given us over the top service, even if 20 of us show up for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The servers Thuy, and Trois catered to our every need. Thuy knew exactly how I want my water, and depending on the order, she knows what sauces I want. Plus, they know every single one of our names. We’ve had almost everything on the menu. Phở for Winter, chicken fried roll(cold bun) for summer. Our favorites are lemon grass fish, garlic green beans with either beef or chicken, and lemon grass chicken. When we don’t want anything heavy we order the Vietnamese sandwiches either the chicken or pork. If its just my hubby, and I we usually share the dinner specials. All and all the best Asian location that’s affordable around. Cons…I just found out Shawn sold his business. He will be on a long vacation. I met the new owner, and new staff. The cooks will stay on board because they are keeping the same menu, but since the owner is Thai, she will add more Thai to the menu. Since I lived in Bangkok as a little girl, I told her about the chicken ate in Thailand, and cantina anywhere else. She said she could make it for me. They seem nice… and the name has been changed. So if you call, and they say some different name, you called the right place. Hopefully they do well. Me being Asian, who grew up in L.A., and fine dining around the world, I’m pretty hard to please. But if it’s affordable and tasty at the same time… I’m sold!

My co-worker and I usually try new lunch spots and based on the reviews, we decided to grab take out. We ordered some pad sa ew, eggrolls, spring rolls and bubble tea. As I was taking off from the restaurant, I smelled something burnt, hoping that it wasn’t the noodles but surely enough, there were some burnt pieces. Other than that, the service was really friendly and my avocado bubble tea was great!

Bland food and mediocre service. Went with a group of 5 for lunch. Four of us got our food in 15 minutes but I was left waiting, the only one without food, for another 20! Four groups were seated and served before I was. I would have gotten over it had the food been good, but it was boring and bland for everyone at our table. From Phở to noodles to prawns to my curry everyone was dissatisfied. Wont be coming back.

The whole family loves Saigon Rose! We’ve been eating here since they opened many years ago. It’s a great place for couples and families to visit. Both the Thai food and Phở taste great! In addition, the family that runs the restaurant is really nice and always makes a point of connecting with us when we are are there.

Decent prices. Decent food. It’s close to where I work so I can’t complain. I’ve only tried their phad thai and chicken phở. I only recommend the latter.

Probably the best phở I have had in the Kent East Hill/Covington area. Nice menu variety. Excellent, friendly service. Don’t expect anything fancy as far as the décor is concerned. They serve beer & wine though, which is nice.

After a workout at the Kent Kangley 24 hour Fitness, I like to come here to put the calories back in. lol. But they have a pretty big menu and the food is good. Its a mom and pop, another reason that I like to come here– and they are fast, friendly, inexpensive and the food is tasty. What more can I say? If you are in the area, it’s a good place to stop in and eat when you are on the go.

We’ve only ordered to go four times so I’m not going to comment on their service. The first time I was craving pad thai so badly so I sent my husband to get them from Saigon Rose because it’s the closest Thai/Vietnamese restaurant from our house. The portion was humongous! The flavor was right on, and I was left very happy. Second time I had the same craving(yeah, crazy baby in my tummy) so I sent him there again. The food was consistently good but the portion this time was less than what we got the first time. I was a little disappointed but thought well, the food was good so we’ll come back. We ordered the pork basil dish to go for the third and fourth time, didn’t order rice because I thought it was way overpriced. $ 1.50 for a small portion of rice? I’ll cook a whole pot myself at home! Nevertheless, their food was consistently good and we’ll definitely be back for more to-go orders :)

This is our favorite Place to go when we get sniffles! Mmmmm Combo Beef Phở hold the Tripe! They put a lot of meat into the Phở, and the Tendon is always Spot on. It will cure you of the sniffles, I swear! I also love their Combo Bun Dish, Daily Soup, and the Bun Mai and Soup special. All very tasty. The Pad Thai and Fried rice are just so-so, and not a fan of the Red Curry.

I should start by saying that the one thing in the forefront of my mind when I go to a restaurant is value. That’s not to say that I will only ever eat cheap. A BMW for half off is a great value. This is not your local teriyaki joint although you wouldn’t know it by the price alone. Saigon rose is BMW quality with the Honda price. I’ve had Phở in dozens of places, and to be quite honest it’s nothing to write home about. It’s good, if you have that Phở graving I’d say go for it but you’re missing out on so many other, better, harder to find offerings. I’ve been eating here for years and everything I’ve ordered has been excellent. They usually have a dinner special with a wide variety of Vietnamese/Thai faire for a really good price. For two people we had lumpia, two soups, and shared and entrée(spicy seafood fried rice), and 4 drinks and it was LESSTHAN $ 40! PROS: Wide selection Inexpensive fast friendly service Best place to eat without going into the city CONS: I want to order everything on the menu. Been coming for years and still haven’t tried everything.

I have this weird thing with phở. I call it the NOODLE to MEATRATIO. It’s the concept that with every bite of noodle, there should be an equal amount of meat to measure up to it’s carb filled greatness. And Saigon Rose delivers. Not only that, they’re broth is pretty damn good. And the steak goes down equally as nice. They also have thai food which I have yet to try.
