I drove by this place a million times before finally deciding to give it a go… big mistake. I’d been choking down Subway for lack of a convenient sub shop. I finally went there and I was very impressed to say the least. Very delicious subs and ownership that takes a lot of pride in their product.

Just found out that this place is closed, how sad! I used to come here fairly often for lunch several years ago when I worked nearby. They always made sandwiches with love. I still miss their sub-style Reuben! Kent definitely lost gem of a sandwich shop. Little David’s, you’ll be missed!

I always enjoy Little David’s Sub Shop! I love the atmosphere! The employees give exceptional customer service! The sandwiches are always freshly made! Little David’s is a very cute sub shop located in a strip mall in Kent — across the street from the K-Mart at the 167⁄516 interchange. It’s in Such a convenient location! The one really cool thing about the shop is that it is covered from floor to ceiling in really cool pop culture memorabilia. It’s fun to take it all in during your short wait! I love the Décor it really makes it a different place! The only thing that is not convenient is the wait sometimes… They do a lot of catering on top of the daily stop in’s besides that any sandwich I’ve ordered has been fantastic!

Been wanting to go here for a while but due to their hours it took a while for me to make it in. Needless to say it was a waste of my time and money. The Philly was completely disgusting and super salty. Probably the worst sandwich I have ever had. So disappointing

I come here once a month or so. I would come more often because the food is pretty good but they always have several employees and it takes at least 15 minutes to make my sandwich every time. Both the hot and cold subs are great. Try the Windy City Special or the Boomer.

I had been eyeing this place for over a year, cursing about their horrible hours of operation. Monday-Friday from 9 – 5 and closed on the weekends are only suited for people working in the Kent area or just do not plain work. On this particular day, I was getting my braces off and my husband wanted to surprise me with lunch and a wonderful dinner later that evening. Low and behold we head to Little David’s Sub Shop. I was actually excited. My husband had listened to my grievances about wanting an Italian Beef and I would get to chomp down on a delicious sandwich that would remind me of home(Chicago). My excited abruptly ended at the sky high prices. Sandwiches(whole)range from about $ 8.50 to $ 9.75. Say what? That is without fries, drink or anything else. This better be the best of the best. WRONG!!! I ordered the Boston and my husband ordered the french dip. We both got a side(chips and macaroni salad) and a drink for like $ 30.00. I am in no way cheap and make a good living but seriously, that was crazy. We took a seat and admired all of the paraphernalia on the walls. In about 10 minutes our food was delivered. I knew as soon as I looked at the sandwiches that I was going to be pissed. Wow, I am getting upset just thinking about it. The meat was not the beautiful, tender succulent moist meat you get when you have an Italian beef. This was pressed beef with that horrible pink mettalic color that you get from the deli. Even with the aus jus, it was bland and dry. As I whimpered from being homesick, my husband a tsk tsk and we trudged out of there with a hump in our back and a lump in our stomachs from the load of horrible beef that we ate. Unfortunately, the locals that we saw come in, loved the sandwiches and was heehawing about their usual Tuesday orders. Needless to say, I booked me a flight to Chicago to swim in the au jus of a great Italian Beef sandwich. Go BEARS!

Although not quite East coast style sandwiches(I’m originally from Philadelphia) the hoagie was good nonetheless. I’ve been here now for 11 days sampling different foods that we don’t see or have in Nashville(where I live now), and I will admit this the freshest tasting food I’ve had thus far outside of Pikes Place. The boomer was definitely a pleasure to eat. My only complaint was the awful clam chowder from Ivar’s that ordered to go with my sandwich.

I have been coming here for years. Great food ! The only reason for not being 5 stars is because it takes a long time to get in and out. They do a lot of catering and seem to have most of the employees dedicated to the catering orders. Food is great if you are not in a hurry.

I use to come here all the time when I worked in the area a while back and since I am again local — I stopped in for a visit. It hasn’t changed or upgraded — which actually is in there favor — my opinion — since it is late 50’s rock — that I love. I love all the old photos and 50’s books they have plus you get to listen to real rock — the way it started before it was ruined(my opinion). The sandwich was great but the lines were long and very slow moving. They have one person taking orders and he was also in charge of take out deliveries. It seems that they should have two people doing that so we could place our order and sit down to enjoy our lunch break — stood in line for over 5 minutes with only 4 people ahead of me. I had the french dip which is huge with decent roast beef. I will give them a A+ on their bread — it actually has taste. I will try it again but if the lines continue to be that slow(remember they were not long — just very slow) probably will not stay.

Here’s the deal. There’s 3 things that make a sandwich step up from the chain mediocrity that exists everywhere in the south end. 1. The bread 2. The business 3. The scale First, the bread. Little David’s excels in this area. The bread tastes like it’s fresh and homemade, and this above all else is what matters. They might make it there or buy it fresh, I don’t know, but the bread is excellent. It’s a great french bread type hoagie roll and goes well with whatever you put on it. Second, the business is whatever is between the pieces of bread. I tried the two types of pastrami sandwiches on the menu, the Pastrami Reuben and the East Coast Joe. The quality of the pastrami was very good, not too salty. The dressing, kraut and cheese on the Reuben blended well with the meat. Solid. Third, the scale is how much business is between the bread. They get knocked a star here. While the sandwich is filling, the ratio of bread to business is not up to par. The owners of Little David’s should take a trip up to Tat’s in Seattle to see how this is done. Fix that, and you’ve got yourself the best sandwich shop in the area. Charge a buck more for the hot meal deal, and add the extra meat. You won’t regret it in repeat business. Service was fine when we went. I generally ignore bad reviews based on service anyway. The FOOD, people.

My dad raved about this place for a while — finally got a chance to go recently and boy was it a disappointment. Even he said(and he’s a long time customer) that they probably changed owners as he didn’t recognize any of the faces anymore. the décor was fun and it felt like you were in a different time period just looking at all the old photos and artifacts on the walls. A time to reminisce of the good ol’ days — it actually had a bit of an east coast feel to it as well. but it really boils down to the food. I ordered the Philly. It took a little longer than expected considering there wasn’t any other patrons there… The bread was over bearing — too much bread to filler ratio. The meat was sub par — the cheese was barely present in taste. And nothing special about the ingredients. To have a window sign claiming you’re the best«east coast style subs» let alone other sub shops out in the greater seattle area(Calozzis, Paseos, Tat’s, Tubs & Subs, Honey Hole) this one is by far on the bottom on the totem pole when it comes to quality, bang for buck, and over all taste. I’d much rather make the extra 30 minute commute to Seattle for any of the above listed shops.

so sad to see this place closed. in their heyday it was really good. they paid attention to details which is rare. :(
