My husband and I ate here for Easter brunch and we weren’t disappointed. First, it’s a BYOB which was fantastic. We brought champagne and were given an ice bucket promptly. The servers work as a team so anybody can help you. They clear the plates quickly so you don’t have to sit with your dirty plate as you are working on the next one. We were seated in the first room with the fireplace lit which was nice. It was a bit cold and damp but it warmed right up. The other rooms had more natural light but I was happy with where we were seated… out of the way of the buffet traffic. The food was spot-on. It ranged from salads– mixed greens, arugula, and Caesar) to breakfast foods– french toast, create-your-own omelets, pasta, salmon, lobster mac-n-cheese and of course a carving station with ham and prime rib. The desserts were a nice portion but not too much as you can always go back for more! Our reservation was for 11:30 but we got there a few minutes before. We waited just a couple minutes to be seated but it wasn’t a problem. There is plenty of parking so don’t worry about that. As we started our meal, the dining rooms were pretty empty but they had definitely set up tables for larger parties. When were finishing up there was more of a crowd but still not too bad. I’m glad our reservation was earlier because it allowed us to get out before the late brunch crowd arrived. I look forward to keeping this Easter brunch tradition and hope we can spend it at The Stone Barn. Oh, one more thing– it was $ 32 per person! I consider that a deal especially when they don’t rush you out so you can definitely enjoy your meal and mimosas!

I LOVED this restaurant. Where to start? The other reviews have the place itself down pat– very large restaurant with a few separate cozy dining rooms. You will definitely feel like you’re on a farm with the décor and the wood paneling. It’s adorable. My boyfriend took me here on date night(perfect) and we did the September Thursday special of 5-Courses for $ 25. I mean the normal deal(5-course for $ 32) is a steal as it is. BYO without a corking fee. I ordered the Mushroom Soup and Lobster Risotto– and both were FANTASTIC. Everything else was impressive as well, including my boyfriend’s dishes and our desserts. Oh, forgot to mention… the«table bread»… oh no big deal it’s just the most delicious Popovers you’ll ever eat with Raspberry Butter. Wow. The service was outstanding, everyone was polite and our water was refilled maybe 1,000,000 times. Our server, Chuck was amazing: he told us about the history of the restaurant, the farm, explained everything we asked about and gave us great recommendations. Two thumbs way up to Chef Ray: this is a delicious, beautiful, and affordable Farm-to-Table restaurant that I cannot wait to go back to!

Went here for Father’s Day buffet brunch. The food wasn’t very good and it was a disorganized mess. People were piling in and there were only three or four service staff. We saw 2 waitresses, one fellow busing tables, and a hostess that doubled as cashier and table-setter. All were young and frazzled, apologizing from the moment we arrived, insisting that there were SOMANY more guests than expected. But they appeared to be working only by reservations, so why the big surprise? Where was the captain of this ship? A waitress warned us that we’d better be hungry for lunch items because the breakfast bar line was extremely long and, sure enough, it snaked all around the room. Guests just stood there unable to access any prepared breakfast items because the line only moved at the completion of someone’s custom omelet. The food might have been more appealing at 10:00, but by 11:30, it was in disarray, limp and picked over, not to mention the most egregious buffet blunder… it was GONE! With still a couple of hours to go, nothing had been replenished or freshened up; serving containers sat empty. But that certainly didn’t change the cost of $ 25.00 per person! Wonder what the 1:00 arrivals found? This was a terribly disappointing experience and an embarrassing choice of a place to treat someone on a special day.

OMG. Made reservation, showed up right on time. Hostess says hi, leaves and keeps us waiting for 10 minutes to «prepare the table.» Placed in an almost empty restaurant at the back by the kitchen doors and right next to another party with chipped glasses. No water for another 10 minutes. Even when water is poured the server did not even acknowledge us. No waiter. We wait another 5 minutes and finally get up and leave. Can’t comment on the food but I am sure it’s not worth the wait. Thanks so much Foxfire for a lovely evening you lazy bums! Went down the street to Catherine’s which was fantastic so I guess it worked out after all!

Wow — another dazzling little BYOB in Chester County, PA, this time housed in a funky old barn along a windy road in horse country outside of Kennett Square. You’ve gotta think ahead, as Foxfire is only open a few nights a week, and you have to leave a message to get a reservation. In our case, we finally called back 48 hours after leaving that message to make sure they had saved us a table for four. «Oh sure, no problem!» Turns out things were pretty quiet on this particular Friday night so we probably could have«walked in» for immediate seating, but given the remote location, I don’t think I would want to chance that. The ambiance of the main dining room is early American cow-stall — and I mean that in the most complimentary sort of way — with a blazing fire in the fireplace, rustic wood paneling, and propane light fixtures on the walls that reminded me of those in my dad’s travel trailer when I was a kid. But the tables were set elegantly, with all the appropriate stemware, and the wait staff was quick to explain(in a Portlandia sort of way) that everything they served was either grown, fed, caught, or plucked within a 20 mile radius of the restaurant. Farm fresh — I got it! A few extra treats, like a butternut squash purée served in a hollowed eggshell, and a dash of sorbet between courses, really help set the palette for dinner. For me, it was the beef filet(which I hardly ever do anymore) with smashed potatoes. She had the amazing spinach soup du jour, and a fabulous crab cake. Our server made it known that there were no daily specials because EVERYthing was special, as the chef changes up the menu from one day to the next. We were really impressed, all the way down to the chocolate molten lava cake, which took an additional fifteen minutes to bring to the point of eruption. Our friends accompanying us that evening reported that their previous experience at Foxfire for the Sunday brunch was«very good,» but nothing like this foodie extravaganza.(Our server confirmed, «Oh yeah, the brunch is totally a different deal!) And all said, we were surprised that the final tab was considerably less than we’ve grown accustomed to at similarly trendy BYO venues. It would be a great place to bring an out of town guest if you want a taste of that Lancaster home-grown ambiance and you simply can’t bear to go near the«Amish Farm» attractions surrounded by outlet stores. This place is anything but touristy, and gets an A+ from us for excellent, flavorful food well suited for bring out the best of our own bottle! I hope they live long and prosper — in a sustainable sort of way!

First, the interior is beautiful… rustic, lots of wooden beams and a gorgeous, huge, fireplace in the center of the dining room. The menu changes, we were told, weekly to include the freshest and most local ingredients. We had a wonderful scallop appetizer over beet risotto, pear salads and we both had the crab cakes bc they were highly recommended and they were out of the pheasant! We were very happy with the food and the service was great. We will definitely return.

Came here for a Newcomer’s luncheon, and it was so good that we hurried back with our husbands later in the week. The mushroom soup was excellent, and the crabcake, which is made with scallop soufflé, not breading, was outstanding. It’s a BYOB with zero corkage fee, which is also a plus. My only regret is that their dinner hours are very limited, but we’ll be back.

What a delightful experience. We went here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised having never been before. The dining room is in an old barn with a giant stone fireplace. The fire was crackling, setting the atmosphere of a quaint country restaurant. The service was slow, but that didn’t phase me, because this isn’t where you go for a quick bite to eat. The food was amazing. There were four of us in the party, each ordered something different, each was exceptional. Strongly recommend Foxfire, I would go back in heartbeat.
