i have been here several times now and really love this place. we have only dined in once but have taken out a number of times. Their pasta dishes are very good. Portions are not big, but just right. They were also very accommodating to my 2 year old which made our experience even better. There pizza is very good as well. All of them are good, but we love the pizza with broccoli rabe and sausage.

We came because we were going to Longwood Gardens and saw the great reviews. MAJORDISAPPOINTMENT. The place was fairly empty and it took 15 minutes for us to get a table. At the same time we were waiting for a seat, 10 more people arrived in the lobby and actually left because they were waiting so long. Meanwhile, they sat a couple before us who arrived well after we did. It took another 10 minutes to get menus once we sat down and another 10 to even order drinks. We finally ordered a Margherita Pizza as an appetizer which was pretty good. For dinner, I ordered Chicken Parm with potatoes and vegetables which came out cold. My boyfriend ordered the Pasta al Forno which he liked and was hot. Our waiter never came to refill drinks. We had to flag him down finally to refill them. Our original waiter never came back and someone else started waiting on us. They took the Chicken Parm off the bill which was nice. Definitely wouldn’t recommend or return. The only reason for the 2 stars is because of the pizza, taking mine off the check, and my boyfriend enjoyed his.

Never even got a chance to try the food here. We stood at the front entry for over 5 minutes on a Friday night around 7pm. 3 or 4 different severs saw us waiting at the host stand and ignored us. They just carried on with what they were doing. Several other people came in behind. There was at least 10+ guests waiting to even be greeted and still no one could be bothered to even say they’d be with us shortly. Ignoring new guests at the door is a red flag for me, so we left and found a different restaurant for dinner.

Alrhough the strip mall atmosphere isn’t overly appealing, the quality of food more than makes up for it. I had a wonderful sausage and pepper sauce over rigatoni and my boyfriend had gnocchi. Both were excellent. Our caprese appetizer was also outstanding. I hope this place lasts — there were only a few diners on Friday evening — because the service and food make it top notch.

We’ve dined at Bite of Italy several times. The space is warm and inviting, as are the staff. The family that runs this restaurant is from Italy, and they are always happy to talk with us. Very friendly! As for the food, it’s authentic, fresh, and delicious. This is a great place for a quick drop-in, regular visits, or special occasions. A wonderful addition to our neighborhood eateries.

We loved the food here. We tried four different dishes and two deserts. Everything tasted very good and fresh. They also can accommodate special requests you might have. Definitely recommend to stop for lunch or dinner.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. We had 3 pasta dishes(gnocchi, lasagne and fettuccine) and they all were amazing. The sauces that accompany the dishes made the dishes unique, well spiced, and all different. The bread was homemade and served with virgin oil, garlic and pepper. We will definitely be back.

Authentic, amazing Italian food. I am extremely picky when it comes to Italian food because of growing up having home made dishes from my Italian family, but this is by far the best Italian meal I have had. Must go!

Yummy thin crust pizza. Came here before heading to longwood. Was empty other than one table. However, we shared three pizzas and all were great. Super light and thin. Cannot comment on other food other than the pizza. Diavola was best but also tried a couple others and all were yummy

First time. Last time. We ordered a pizza for take –out. It was so salty it was nearly inedible. One out of three of us ate it. Although their phone etiquette could use some work, I was greeted by a Very friendly and helpful manager at pick up –thus the second star. Order was filled quickly, but was, hands down, the worst pizza I’ve ever had. Will not be checking out the restaraunt.

Love, love love the veal saltimbocca! My veal dish was perfect with white northern beans and broccoli rabe. My husband had the seafood ravioli and it was delicious and everything super fresh. The seafood was fresh that morning. The bread is so soft and fresh out of the oven. Very tasty with the bread dipping oil. The owner was so nice and gave us bruschetta on the house. They know what they are doing with pizza too and explained everything about pizza. It’s an art form to them not just sustenance.

Like many other reviewers, I found this place when scoping out restaurants close to Longwood Gardens. Usually, when we visit the gardens, my mom and I eat at the café there, but I feel that the food there is generally overpriced and mediocre. On Sat., I talked my mom into stopping here for a light meal before we entered the gardens instead, and it worked out quite nicely. Ideally, I would have liked to have ordered the lunch combo, but since we arrived right at 4pm(which is usually the cutoff for lunch, in my experience), I didn’t inquire about it. Instead, we just ordered a margherita pizza with mushrooms. When the pizza came out, it had a nice, crispy crust, which is the key attribute that I always look for in a good wood-fired pizza. The amount of sauce was a bit on the heavy side, and flavor-wise, I found it a bit on the salty side, but neither took away too much from the pizza. There was a decent amount of fresh mozzarella and mushrooms, but I’m pretty sure that the mushrooms were from a can, rather than the fresh mushrooms I was hoping for, given that Kennett Square is a prime mushroom growing area.(Use of canned mushrooms is a crime that many well-known pizza places in Pittsburgh are guilty of, as well.) Despite these shortcomings, I was quite pleased with the quality of the pizza, esp. for the area – a good, crispy crust is something many of the wood-fired pizza places in Pittsburgh can’t even seem to get right! We also decided to order dessert, and ordered the dark side of the moon torte. Upon eating it, it was clear that this dessert was pre-made and frozen, given that the bottom had some slight freezer burn. Despite this, the flavor was quite enjoyable – my mom, who loves chocolate, especially enjoyed it. The price, at $ 6, was a touch higher than I’d like, esp. for a previously frozen dessert. In general, we were pleased with our meal here, despite a few shortcomings. Our check came to $ 22, so with tip, we spent about what we would have spent at the café at Longwood, and the food was definitely a step up in quality. Our meal took around 45 min., so factoring in the extra bit of driving, we spent about as much time as we would have at the café, and we avoided the frustration of standing in line and dealing with screaming children running rampant. That’s a win in my book!

Before driving down to Kennett for a day at Longwood Gardens with the grandparents as their Christmas gift, we scoped out Unilocal to see what restaurants would be close and offer up good food. So, with a reservation for 8 in the books, off we went. It’s located in a shopping center about a mile from Longwood. The bright-neon sign was easy to spot, and we were seated in the back room, which was empty, but would be full by the time we left at 6:30. In short, everyone enjoyed their meals. The house salad($ 3) was spot-on with a tasty balsamic dressing, and my linguini with crabmeat, was very good. Kids inhaled the pizzas, grandparents inhaled a margarita pizza, and wife liked the seafood ravioli. Waitress was prompt, friendly, and had everything correct the first time. Total bill for 5 adults and three kids was $ 140. Solid meal, good value. No hesitations in recommending!

After going to Long Wood Gardens, our dining experience here topped off the day! Brought our own wine, and started with appetizer with delicious fire roasted red peppers, cheese & olives that went well with the warm rolls. Entrée’s are large and very filling, but be sure to save room for their wonderful desserts! Top dinners at our table were the Large slice of Lasagna, Rigatoni Camapagnola, and very rich Mushrooms Ravioli. Lots of sauce served on the dishes! Not suggested the eggplant parm., which is baked ontop of spaghetti and very mushy. suggestion: serve Italian loaf bread :)

A surprisingly good find by the long wood gardens. The best mushroom ravioli ever and the grilled salmon was just perfect
