Good walleye, good perch, but not the best either. It’s a bar, don’t expect much more than that. Decent food, but it’s probably known more for being a local watering hole. Price was affordable, and fresh fish is really hard to mess up so it was good, but like i said it was not anything spectacular.

The Village Pump on Kelley’s is the best place on the island! They’re all good but the Owner Gary will go above and beyond to make you feel welcome! Don’t forget to High five him!

We were there on Labor Day weekend, and even though it was crowded we didn’t have to wait long to get a table. The food was good, nothing too insanely memorable. But the service was not great. A waitress said they didn’t expect to be so busy, so they were short-staffed. We’d probably go back again, but only if they weren’t crowded.

Food was just ok. The prices were high for the quality. The waitress was very rude!!!

We came here again last night and had a much better experience! We had a pound of perch, walleye bites, and beef and chicken nachos. All of it tasted great. The service was great also. I want to like the Brandy Alexander but haven’t adapted to the taste. A lot of other people seem to really like it though!

Great perch basket! Also the sweet potato fries were awesome. Very good place to eat! We will be back next time we are at Kelly’s Island.

It is very close to the«good times» dock so it is easy first hit when arriving at the island. Particularly if you’re hungry. The food is somewhat expensive I didn’t think extravagantly so except for the perch. You are on an island so I would think that everything but fish would be expensive. So perch basket $ 17 with five pieces of Perch and Way too many fries, A five dollar Amstell light. There are cheaper places to eat but what the heck you’re on an island and on vacation.

We were highly recommended by many locals to eat at the Village Pump and we were a little disturbed by the atmosphere and looks on the outside. The next day we decided to go and their was music playing loudly so I could barely talk! When we ordered our food they didn’t tell us that the smallest side or a starter was the size of a meal for 3, and because of that, it was very expensive. The food was okay, but I got full from just eating the starter and barely could finish my full course meal. Despite those negatives, our waitress was talking to a guy for about 5 – 10 minutes and didn’t realize we were waiting to get our check and that we were done eating. I am just trying to list things here so you don’t make the same mistake my family did, eating at this establishment.

Perch here was absolutely delicious. Really enjoyed the walleye bites as well. Staff was really friendly and helpful. I’ll be back next time I’m on Kelleys.

I love the Village Pump! As a vegan, eating out can sometimes be challenging but the Pump very kindly created a delicious veggie sub for me that was so big I couldn’t finish it. It’s so nice to be able to go to a restaurant and eat something other than a salad. Also… the Pump fries are great! My husband and I love the friendly atmosphere and we have always had great service!

The experience started ok until it was time to leave. It took forever to get our server’s attention… And don’t dare ask for separate checks or you will get evil looks from the staff. Very disappointing first experience due to the service.

My expectations were low. Island low. However the hostess won me over. This girl seated us and had the personality that was fun, magnetic and appealing. She talked to the kids; she joked with us. She told us of the specials and got us drinks. Our server showed up and took our orders and ms. congeniality hostess stopped by and told us «you get the green bean fries. the beans equal out the fried yumminess»…kids inhaled them. Wife and I ordered another beer, kids sprites. We both had the artichoke/white pizzas with enough garlic to choke a vampire. I tasted it for days. Days… but the fun part was that the hostess loved her job so much she’s sprinting around the place, ran and got our food and delivered it with a spin. What a fun spirit. Overall the food was a solid 3, the hostess a 10. Bar was SUPER loud; partiers were our and about. Kids in this place, even at dinner, maybe weren’t the best idea.

I love this place. No island run is complete without a Brandy Alexander, a basket of walleye bites, and a bowl of lobster chowder. Oh yum! A friend just had the perch, and said it was excellent. This means I may have to forgo my beloved walleye bites some visit. I love all the historical photos on the walls, and talking to the locals. Fascinating folks and place! Service is good, food is great, and you get a beautiful view of our great lake! We always stay at the marina, and it’s a short bike ride to the Pump. And very convenient after a Jet Express ride to Put-in-Bay. Enjoy!

I’ve been coming to the VP for 20 years! The drinks are cold, people are friendly and the food is more than you would expect from a bar. Weekends are always busy in the warm months. This is where the islanders hang out.

Easily one of the best places to eat on the island. Great service. The signature frozen brandy alexander(grown up milk shake) is amazing. Get a pitcher. The lobster chowder was amazing. Flavorful, with lobster flavor in every spoonful. The perch was lightly breaded, cooked beautifully and moist and tasty. Service was attentive. Nice bar selection. Overall, great experience and would return.

The Pump is a very friendly comfortable spot to have drinks and dinner while on the Rock. Service is excellent with engaging staff sharing their thorough understanding of the ingredients and preparation of each dish. The lobster chowder and steak bites appetizer make a nearly perfect light meal. While the mixed green salad and shoestring fries were adequate, the new T-bone steak left much to be desired as it was fairly thin with almost no filet, grisly, and terribly under-seasoned. The noise level was also fairly high but that’s really to be expected on the Lake Erie islands. I recommend a visit, and will come back to try other menu items on return trips.

Love this place. Friendly people. Excellent food. Known for Lake Erie perch, Lobster Chowder, and Brandy Alexanders. Pick up a Pump shirt at the house around the corner on Division Street.

The good: Excellent perch dinner, wait staff was very attentive, I would go back just for the perch dinner. The disappointing: The Brandy Alexander’s did not seem the same as a few years ago, very weak and for $ 25.00 a pitcher I was expecting better.
