This place is a total dive and quite filthy. But if you are looking for good food, stiff drinks and large portions you’ve found it!

The parking is terrible and when you walk into the main door the smoking section is right there. The food is okay and the drinks are not bad but some of the bartenders should be cutting off customers instead of continuing serving them when they are clearly drunk.

First of all. This is a bar. So those who complain about the run down aged ambience are looking in the wrong place. If you want a good drink and a really good breakfast and considerate staff. Come to AJ’s. It’s not intended to be anything but what it is. Good food, good staff, good drinks at a decent price. Try it.

This is a dark dingy little place with a smokers area right at the front door and people smoking cigarettes as early as they open for breakfast so I felt like I was walking through a wall of smoke and nasty fermented cigarettes which ruined my taste buds and the place needs a deep cleaning like badly, and there is nothing like having breakfast either in the dining area or at the bar next to people who are drunk and gamble a Holick’s spending the way their Social Security while you try to eat. Been in here at night and it’s not much better. The bartenders are hit and miss The guy with the blonde hair in a pony tail is pretty cool but the little dark-haired chick, Melissa, was extremely rude to me for no reason.

Food is awful, you’d be better off going to McDonald’s. I told one of the bartenders the ladies room had feces all over the toilet, she said they’d clean it up right away, and they never did, it was there all night. They said my husband had 11 beers! 11! That’s insane, it’s not even legal to serve that many beers to one person in a night. I kept track, he had six. We tried to tell them they over charged us and they wouldn’t listen. They even asked if his name was Cody because someone with that name called a cab and didn’t claim it. No cab was outside, I know because I watched for a good ten minutes. We think they even called the police on us because one followed us the whole way home. We came home just fine, neither one of us were incapable of driving. Horrible food, even worse customer service, terrible sanitation and they over charged. If I could give them no stars I would!

Please read whole review as I give FIVESTARS to the following: Servers. Excellent customer service from employees. Great stiff drinks. Great breakfasts depending on the cook. Unfortunately, I give one star(zero if possible) to the following… Management! John Taffer would have a heyday! Let me fill his shoes for the next few lines… Have someone clean the place once in a while; ie the front of the building. Blow leaves, trash, cigarette butts, and cobwebs away from the front door.(Leaf blowers cost $ 29 bucks). Fix the tears in the seats!!! Get rid of them or fix ‘em! Update the bathrooms so I don’t feel like I’m using Goober’s Roadside Fillin’ Station — more importantly, keep them clean and stocked! Scrape off all the cheesy«$ 8 Spaghetti Nite» signs off the front glass doors along with the pounds of old tape from previous signs… Water the plants… I could go on and on. Owner, get your act together or I’m taking the $ 500 a month I spend here elsewhere. Employees — keep up the great work!

First of all if you are solely into atmosphere — turn around and walk out. BUT if you are a fan of well cooked comfort food, sit down and enjoy yourself! The menu has just been updated(yes, there are been a few modest price changes too) and added on to. There are daily specials. You can get ½ servings on some of the breakfast entrees — which are served all day. Friday and Saturday nights you can get very tasty prime rib. It seems as if there is only one server at a time — and the place is huge inside — so sometimes it can take a few minutes to get your order in, but it’s worth it. The only negative thing I have to say is about their side veggies. Think they are canned and very bland — usually just don’t eat them, but that’s ok because the salad that comes with the meal is really good. Drinks are a good pour and there are slots if you are inclined.

My wife and I stopped here for a date and were both impressed. Very friendly service made it an enjoyable evening. Not to mention the food. Their home made honey mustard was fantastic and we were very happy with our meals. Definitely gonna visit again.

Nope. I walked in and it felt like going back to the fifties. The place I sat at had chairs on wheels and a décor that felt like the worst part of a family friendly sitcom from the birth of TV. The clientele was notably of an older age and while I don’t hold that against the bar(as I hope to one day attain that status myself), it may attest for the décor change. And all that is forgivable. But I sat for about fifteen minutes with no attention at all. I could have gone to the bar, I suppose, but I wanted food and, let’s face it, at this point I was being snotty. I admit it. But still, the bartender saw me, another person(I think she worked there… she was cleaning up tables and whatnot) also saw me… but I got nothing. Nothing. So I faked a phone call and walked out. I went down the street to another bar and grill and had an amazing burger and some beers there. I guess this place might be good… but honestly, I didn’t hang around long enough to find out. Oh well.

Stopped in here on our way home. We were in Salem for a concert. If this place was near my house, it’s the type of place I would frequent often. The servers were so friendly! Outstanding service and the guy sitting next to us was so funny. This place was surprisingly huge! It looked like a hole in the wall. But wow. We had breakfast. DH had the steaks and eggs which was the special and I had my two eggs and hash browns. Delish! Food/drinks were cheap! Awesome place. Glad I checked in here so I can remember to come back when I’m in the area again. Again, awesome, awesome service. Thanks again!

In town for West Coast Haunters Convention recently and hit AJ’s on Saturday night. Didn’t eat, but we sure drank! The place was very accommodating to the mass of costumed party people with quick service, good sound system and a nice outdoor area. Kudos’s AJ’s for putting us up, we’ll be back again next year.
