I have a Sunday tradition. My sons and I go to Church and then right after that on our way hoe we stop by La Bala for some lunch. Its a totally unassuming«hole in the wall» type of place. But everyone is super friendly and the food is authentic and wonderful. Really can’t complain about much. Its very reasonably priced and the décor and setup reflects that. So don’t expect fine dining!

My Breakfast taco spot. Nice little spot in Fiestas parking lot. This is my 3rd time being here. Always a pleasant staff. Large amount of them so everyone is attended to as soon as they arrive. The flan is to die for. Tacos: Barbacoa-best, beef Fajita-secnd best, chicken-pretty good, Pork very flavorful. Breakfast tacos: eggs&chorizo:best, egg&potato, eggs bacon, egg&ham were all pretty good too. The flour tortilla is very fresh and has a homemade taste. That’s what does it for me. They take a little long for Togo orders so it’s best to call ahead and just pick it up but if you are dining in then it’s perfect.

I honestly don’t understand why these guys don’t have more stars… This place is pretty solid. The Cochinita Pibil is delicious! The service was good, but I can tell they’re definitely short handed. I’d still come back.

This is the best Barbacoa I’ve had in Houston! And the churros are awesome! Torta de la Barda is great just order it without lettuce, as the original from Tampico. I don’t recommend tacos al pastor, but everything else is delicious and cheap!

Get Mexican street tacos, and I’ve eaten my fur share at places in Houston and in Mexico. Tacos al pastor/trompo were spot on and as well as the barbacoa. A must try!

There is a reason why this place is a 2 star. Ordered 1 trompo &2 beef fajita tacos. Trompo did not have much taste to except the fibers of the meat. As for the beef about the same thing lots of small scrap pieces. Also I had this for take out. Got home opened my bag and cilantro and onions were not in the bag. Without those 2 makes the tacos even more tasteless. The only bright side that I got from this place is the green salsa. Other than that if your looking for tacos better to find yourself a taco truck!

Food is fresh and tasty, although somewhat inconsistent, depending who’s behind the grill. Service can be excellent(ask for Isabel she is the BEST), or terrible because they are usually very busy. They have the best breakfast red chilaquiles I’ve ever had!(Again, depends on cook). Good sopes, and their tripa frita and cochinita pubil are very good. Decent coffee too. They get so busy, it’s hard to find parking, but it’s free parking so can’t complain. My chilaquiles are sometimes not as crunchy as they should be, but Isabel always makes sure they fix it and get it right. I don’t mind a little margin of error if they are willing to fix it, which is way more than I can say for most other places. Prices are decent, mid range. It’s sometimes a gamble eating here, but its good, and when you win, you win big!

Ordered a Chicken Gordita, Beef Fajita Taco, Chicken Fajita Taco. The Chicken Gordita was one of the best one from a restaurant that I had ever had. The home-made tortilla that is used was almost like the ones my grandmother used to make. It could have used a little more chicken. Beef Tacos and Chicken Tacos were O.K. The meat was kind of dry, and the corn tortillas were also dried out which made them break apart. Overall the food was O.K., if I go back it would be for the Gorditas.

Look first thing is first décor has nothing to do with the food. The food Is amazing and at a great price helpful staff, evan if they don’t speed fluent English will work hard to make you happy. I haven’t had anything in the menu that I didn’t like.

Ordered a Cuban Torta and Fajita Taco. The Fajita taco was OK, but I’m not sure that was actually beef skirt steak. The Cuban Torta was inedible. There was an unidentifiable deep fried meat on the sandwich. This meat was completely dried out and hard. I tried to bite through it and was unable. There are far too many Mexican places to eat at in Houston, no need to suffer the bad ones.

My first impression of Tacos La Bala was not a good one. I remember during night time my family and I went to the retardant for dinner. The servers and owners refused to open the doors for us and ignored us completely. It wasn’t till way later that we were finally able to experience their food or service first hand. The establishment is OK, nothing stellar. Some cheap tables and chairs. They usually get busy around lunch time and customer service goes out the window. They only care about profit. Had some of their taco choices and meats which were really not bad but not great. Better than taco bell, not better than my grandma’s home mexican cooking. They forget custom orders and drinks because they don’t pay attention to detail, and their tables are usually dirty due to left overs from past customers who’ve eaten there.

Great for lunch, not so much for breakfast. I have been here a couple of times for lunch and it has been good in the way that I am promptly helped and time it takes to get food is quick. I’ve had the milanesa, which was pretty tasty and very filling, as well as the fajita taquitos which tasted delicious and although they seemed pretty small, they filled me up. They reminded me of the tacos I’d get in Mexico from the street(that’s a good compliment). I decided to try their breakfast tacos, as I’ve been looking for some aroudn this area. I was SO disappointed. The egg in the breakfast tacos was too easy for my taste and that grossed me out. I had to toss them. I would have returned them or asked for them to be made again if I had not taken them for take out or had known they were gonna be easy. Besides that, the content inside the taco was rather small. I can definitely say I will never have their breakfast tacos again. If you want some lunch tacos, this is a good place. Try their green salsa… not their breakfast tacos… gag!

As a transplant from Southern California, 99% of what is labeled Mexican food in Houston is an abomination! This place is exactly the opposite. I’m pretty sure on a rainy day, what you find at the end of the rainbow is a big pot full of tacos from Tacos La Bala. This was also the first place I found sopes on a menu, which I’ve been missing for nearly 2 years. Food here isn’t drenched with the completely unMexican insult to food that is Tex-Mex«queso.» Here, they understand that queso actually means cheese, not some nasty nacho sauce concoction — and that if the cheese is yellow, it has no place in Mexican food! Everything is delicious. The only reminder that this was not a California restaurant is that they call their carne asada«beef fajitas.» Well… nobody’s perfect. But when it comes to real Mexican food in Houston, nobody’s closer to perfection than Tacos La Bala.

This is one of the best dives in katy. Authentic mexican food, so if you’re looking for tex-mex be prepared to branch out. The wait staff is all very friendly, and the prices cannot be beat. For example, my family of 5 ate there yesterday, $ 25 for all of us. The food flavor and quality is impeccable. If you haven’t tried Bala yet, you must! Katy’s best taco joint.

Service has gone downhill lately. Too bad. It used to be good

I wanted to cheat. Yes, that’s right. I’m on WeightWatchers and I wanted something naughty and delicious that I wouldn’t regret. So… TACOS, it is! Spicy, flavorful red and green salsas on the table. Crisp, warm tortilla chips that aren’t too salty begin your meal. It helps to speak Spanish. But if you don’t, it’s okay, the extremely polite waitress will give you a menu with English on the other side. I recommend the Trompo taco on either corn or flour tortillas. I would give another star to make it a perfect 5 star review, but having lived in Mexico, I have had exquisite tortillas that are buttery, flaky and perfect. TLB comes close, and the fact that this location is down the street from me, it’s pretty awesome. Free parking and lunch for 2 under $ 20 is a darn great meal. No RAGRETS(insert Movie reference here)…

I think the tacos are just ok! I’ve tried the barbacoa, trompo, pork and apparently the cactus which I was told was pork. The tacos used to be $ 1.45 but they raised em up a bit to $ 1.75(corn)…I guess! I’m a big fan of the mexican coke, get it! In regards to the tacos, the barbacoa isn’t the best. It’s acceptable. I found the trompo to be hard and crispy. It’s not for me. I asked the lady what the conchinta(I think that’s how u spell it) was. She told me it was pork. So when I got it, I took a bite and it didn’t feel like meat. As I was picking at it, a gentleman came over and asked if everything was ok! He told me it was cactus… what the fugg? Gross! He traded it out for an actual pork taco. Again, just ok! I hear the chicken and beef are good but I haven’t tried… Overall it’s acceptable. 3 stars!
