I was happy to see the first Vietnamese restaurant open up in Katy, but to my disappointment it’s not up to par. I know the restaurant is called PHO Katy but their menu consist of way more than phở! I was excited to try their banh bot chien along with their com thit nuong with an egg roll and fried egg, my friend ordered some chicken dish that I forgot the name to. Every single dish was a disappointment. The banh bot chien the most, 1⁄5. The banh bot was fried a little too long, the eggs were slightly raw still and both combined were very bland. The com thit nuong and chicken was ok, at best it would be a 2⁄5. I also order their meat ball spring roll, 3⁄5. It actually had flavor with a decent amount of crisp to it. I also ordered their Thai tea and that just tasted like I was drinking condense milk with a tea spoon of tea mixed in. I’m all for supporting mom and pop businesses but not this place. Maybe I’m use to eating authentic Asian food on bellaire so I have a higher expectation when it comes to Asian cuisine, but this is not how Vietnamese food should taste like.

My husband and I came here for dinner. Everything tastes fresh and the service is excellent. I got the #52 and my husband got #29. We both give our dishes a 5⁄5. They have more choices than other phở places. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. We will be coming back again. This is our new favorite phở place.

I came here with two friends the other night and the experience was not very satisfactory. We arrived at 9pm and wanted to go to Phở Saigon but it was closed so we had to settle for this. My Vietnamese friend has been here but my friend and I have never. He was willing to give it another try since he didn’t like this place the 1st time. Service wasn’t very friendly and told us the kitchen was closed when we were just ordering… it was 9:30pm(they close at 10pm) and they didn’t tell us last call when we walked in. So they couldn’t make my friend’s dish of fried rice fresh because«kitchen was closed» yet they could make all the other entrees? We were confused especially since we’ve all been in the restaurant industry. Our server also didn’t check for the allergies I had warned her about and served it to me.(My friend told her in Vietnamese«no cucumbers» 3x and was then served cucumbers in the roll, the spring roll wasn’t even comped off in the end) I ordered Spring rolls: 1⁄5 which were very unsatisfying. My friend and I couldn’t even finish one order bc it tasted inedible. The peanut sauce wasn’t very tasty either. Phở saigons spring rolls are a lot fresher and flavorful. My friend ordered meat phở: 4/5, we thought the phở was pretty good, I guess since we’re not Vietnamese or used to it. My Vietnamese friend who is used to eating phở and authentic Vietnamese dishes didn’t think it was good. Lastly, my Vietnamese friend ordered the pork chop rice dish. He finished it but said it was(2⁄5) In conclusion, based from what my Vietnamese friend said, «I’ve been to half-assed Vietnamese restaurants and this is pretty half-assed. People who aren’t Vietnamese, or used to Vietnamese food, would think it’s good but Vietnamese people would know this place isn’t worth it.» My friend and I had to agree with him due to the service and quality of our food. Save your money and go to Phở Saigon across the street. This place will most likely not be open for long.

Picked up a regular dark dhicken Phở to go for the first time for lunch today based on Unilocal reviews. Pretty good and not too pricey. They only deliver if your order is $ 20 or more which to me IS a bit pricey for delivery.

We stop by local Vietnamese Phở place for traditional noodles but this time ordered the specials, which is deep fried squid, think Vietnamese style calamari and popular hard noodles. See pictures.

Finally took a chance and tried this place out since I was craving Asian food and hubby wouldn’t drive me to bellaire. We ordered the following: Nem nuong spring roll: this was okay, didn’t have much flavor. Banh bot chien: do not order this. It doesn’t look like the picture in the other reviews. It was soggy and the taro was too big and undercooked. You will be disappointed. Chicken wings: these were good and crispy. My intent was to order the nuoc mam wings but I’ll try those another time. Bo luc lac: this was the best item we had. Good flavor and tender beef. Overall, I would probably come here again to try some other things since it’s so close to home.

Ate here on a Saturday night around 9pm since they close at 11pm in Sat night, unlike most restaurants i Katy. Not busy at all. We ordered the grilled pork spring rolls, Phở w/well done brisket & flank, child’s phở chicken and Koren BBQ with fried egg and rice. The phở had a great flavor, broth very tasty. My 3 yr old gobbled down all her phở chicken soup. Loved it. I still prefer Phở Saigon’s grilled pork spring rolls, more flavor. The Koren bbq was to die for, so flavorful and tender! The menu has a good variety of choices. More to offer than Phở Saigon. Nice booth seating and child friendly menu. Would definitely recommend and go again!

Most places in Katy usually stay open for business until 9 pm, it’s seldom when it’s 930 pm. But one night, my friends and I were craving some phở. We usually go Phở Saigon or Phở 3D, either places are really good. But they were already closed for business. We Unilocaled up other places around and found the newly opened Phở Katy and decided to give it a try. They were also open for business until 10pm! The service and the workers are super friendly. The also have TVs all around the restaurant, so you can watch sports while eating. The food tastes wonderful, although the meat to noodle portions are less than usual. Thai tea is also good, but sometimes too sweet for my tasting. They also do the spend $ 100, get $ 10 credit as well. go try this place out!

Pretty impressed with this phở restaurant. It has a high rating mainly because of its quality and what it offers, for Katy. Like many others have mentioned, the food is actually comparable to restaurants in Bellaire(Chinatown). I love the fact they have such a wide variety option on their menu. I literally can come here if I crave any Vietnamese food. I ordered bun bo hue(hue beef noodle soup) and canh ga chien nuoc mam(fried chicken wings with fish sauce). Very satisfied with the noodle broth seasoning. Kind of spicy and the savory flavor was there. I asked for extra fermented shrimp paste to complete the flavor and it was good enough. Can’t this this anywhere else in Katy. The wings in my opinion was ok. But my boyfriend liked it. It’s crispy however seasoning was kind of salty. Boyfriend got the special phở bowl, which was not disappointing. The broth was comparable to bellaire. It’s up to preference then where you like phở more(between phở Saigon across street or here). He also ordered banh bot chien(Vietnamese pancake) which was a good attempt but to me it tasted like tofu. I would not recommend it but he was ok with it. I can’t wait to come back and try more food they offer. It seemed like a small family business. They try to make you feel welcome and provide fast service. However, it may seem a little slow since small staff.

My parents live in the Katy area, so its always nice to see some new Vietnamese cuisines open up in the area. This use to be one of the Vietnamese crawfish shops, and you can tell because most of the designs still remain. The menu was huge! We had such a dilemma deciding what to order, definitely want to return to try the other items. They offer lunch combos as well! I thought that was always neat! –Bot chien: The actual dish wasn’t horrible. Nice attempt, but nothing is comparable to the well know Tan Tan’s. The sauce was not on point at all. It was almost too sweet? –Hu tieu ga kho/phở ga kho: Nothing special to be honest, but nothing horrific either. Both items were ordered, and you may be wondering why I categorized them together. We compared both items, and they were identical. –Phở: I didn’t get to eat it fully, but I did try a spoon of the broth. Felt like it was too fatty for my taste, but who knows since I didn’t get to fully eat it. I have high hopes for the restaurant. Staff was very attentive and nice, along with an awesome menu. I really can’t wait to return to try the other menu items. But on the rate of the food that I did try, its mediocre and nothing to wow about. Although, it is definitely something different that is being offered in the Katy area that I admire.

When eating phở in Katy, it’s natural to compare to Phở Saigon, as it has set such high standards for the community. Phở Katy lives up to said high standard, and in some area exceeds. Their phở broth is some of the best I’ve ever had: rich, aromatic, flavorful, the list could go on. The vermicelli bowls are much more exciting that Phở Saigon’s, as you can see from the photo. The only area where Phở Saigon is significantly better than Phở Katy are the spring rolls. Phở Katy’s spring rolls don’t have as much meat. This is a great Vietnamese restaurant, with a HUGE menu. The Katy community is lucky to have Phở Katy!

Came in on a busy Saturday night to try out the new place. I was alone and had to wait about 40 minutes for my chicken spring rolls to arrive and then phở followed after. The kitchen was really slow in bringing out food looking at everyone else. My spring rolls and chicken phở were good when it finally arrived. I ordered phở with white meat and had to pull out chicken skin and other weird meat. Never had that experience before. Overall the food was okay and employees were nice but staffing definitely needs to be increased to handle high occupancy times in the kitchen and in dining area.

Food is on point. I was skeptical at first but phở is great even compared to Bellaire Blvd standards. I think I will become a repeat customer. I am already a fan. They also have a frequent shopper discount where you get $ 10 back when you spend $ 100. They tally it by your phone number. Authentic flavor, large portions and fast service.

Came here on a early afternoon weekend for lunch. It wasn’t busy at all inside. I ordered a large bowl of Phở with tripe and flank. The broth was awesome. Flavorful yet not salty at all. I ordered chicken wings for the appetizer. Came out hot, crispy, and juicy.

My co-workers and I tried this supposed new Phở place off Mason Road today. I was not impressed the moment I walked in. The cleanliness of the place did not seem up to par either. My colleague asked the waitress to come by and clean the table again. The food itself was OKAY, that’s why I gave it Two stars(I’ve experienced better) When it was time to leave, they took forever to bring us our bill. Would I go back? Very unlikely. Unless all the other Phở places in the Katy area go out of business.

My daughter and I enjoyed the food at Phở Katy. The spicy beef rice noodle soup was a delicious choice for me. I also recommend the fried chicken with sweet rice(#107). The chicken has a very special taste.

I am viet and I have to say this place has an authentic taste. I always go to their old restaurant before they move here to Katy. Will only be the only phở place I go. Boyfriend always orders Shaken beef with fried rice. Yummy.

Opening day! Fantastic, friendly service with great prices, large portions, and a HUGE menu filled with great eats. I started off with a banh mi(its like a Vietnamese po-boy, y’all.) Which was awesome. Crisp, warm french bread, cilantro, fresh jalapeños, cucumbers, and marinated, grilled pork. SOGOOD… and at $ 4, cheaper than Subway next door. Can’t beat it. Also ordered a bowl of their Sweet and Sour fish soup.(Canh chua ca’ for you traditionalists.) Which was one of their more expensive dishes(but still only $ 15) …and was GIGANTIC. Seriously, three to go containers worth. It’s insane, and if their largest bowl of phở(they offer small, large and extra large) is that size, I’m sold.(On that note too, it should be mentioned that the Phở is less expensive, with the Extra large bowl being arround $ 9.) Most importantly though, the service was great, which is not something I’ve seen often in the area. Friendly and pleasant waitstaff, and a non-rushed vibe. Yall, its just a good place. Check it out!
