This rental is right on the beach and located in front of the Aulani resort, lagoon one. Parking is limited at the lagoon, so it offers a smaller crowd. Okay, I must admit that we had a load of fun, but it came with a hefty price tag. There are absolutely no kama’aina or military discounts at this resort. We rented the stand up paddle board for half a day(4 hours) at $ 78. There were kayaks, snorkel gears, umbrellas and chairs for rental here too. We were required to wear life jackets and we must stay within the lagoon. It wasn’t adventurous for the non beginners of this sport, however having beginners with us, we weren’t too keen on going pass the lagoon anyhow. There were waivers that needed to be signed and the workers monitoring us to keep our life vests on while paddling. I believe they put these restrictions in for liability sake. The one cool thing about the boards was it had a circular cut out with a piece of plastic over it so you can see the ocean. Unless it’s a clear day there’s not much to peep, but it’s still fun for kids to ride along. People around us were asking about the prices and just shy away when we told them how much the rental cost us. They had a great idea to bring their own paddle next time. Hmm… wonder if that’s okay, since it is a public beach? The workers at the rentals were nice local folks and had sympathy for us since we didn’t get any kama’aina rates. it’s definitely geared towards the Disney members who either own time shares or some kind of privileged annual fee. The area is peaceful, it’s not so crowded, there’s convenient restaurants nearby and it’s a one time deal for us. If we didn’t have a kid with us, I probably would not go this far away from Waikiki to pay nearly double the price to go around in a lagoon.
