If you say you are open, then at least put a sign up that says you will be back or something. Leaving the place empty with no indication of whether you will be back or not is bad style.

Great food truck. Some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had. I had spicy pulled pork.(you can also get mild) the pulled pork also came with beans and coleslaw. With rice under the pulled pork. If you live in Hawaii on the big island, or are visiting there I think you should definitely go visit this food truck.

This place is awesome! We stopped by with a group of 30 people on our way back from a hike and they were super accommodating — really quick taking our orders and cooking up us our delicious food. They were incredibly friendly and even gave us an extra pulled pork sandwich for the road! Definitely get the PORKRIBS and the BRISKETTACO. The taco is a deep fried flour tortilla, not your average corn tortilla street taco. And the portions are HUGE! I have leftovers for 2 days!

Nice people; friendly town. Got the pulled pork taco, it was huge– N Carolina style but very sweet and little to no vinegar edge. Recommend getting sauce on the side. Slaw good. Large portions

I was in Hawi on main road just East of downtown and stopped at well kept food truck for some local smoked meats. Best I ever had ribs. Pulled pork tacos are a must with tons of pork and very large. Very reasonable prices and above normal quality as compared to some major chains that claim smoked but is really boiled and liquid smoke added. Tues-Fri days open. Well worth the stop if you are going for a trip to Kohala area, Waimea or for the Malasadas and Waipio valley overlook.

I walked out from work and saw the Holy Smokes lunch wagon parked nearby. I took a quick walk over and my eyes widened at the selection of smoked meats. Pastrami, smoked meat, ribs, and then my eyes landed on brisket! A few minutes later and I was on my drive back to Kona with a quarter pound of brisket and some fries. I told them I was eating on the road and they cut my meat up to perfect finger food sized pieces. The big mistake I made was not asking for more BBQ sauce! I need to find them again so I can get a pastrami sandwich. And maybe a side order of smoked meat. And ribs.

Holy smokes is right! That’s what was going through mind mind when I tasted this BBQ. The pulled pork was amazing. I had it spicy and it came with coleslaw on the sandwich. I do not like coleslaw but with that pork I was lovin it! Very nice people own and operate this. I was on vacation from California and ran into this place right after zip lining. It is a catering truck with a few tables. Really well worth the visit. Don’t miss out!

What a lucky day for my husband and I to discover a true Delight for the taste buds! Holy Smokes! It’s all in the name, words can’t describe the perfection of this BBQ! We were going to share the pulled pork sandwich, one BITE and I turned right back around for my own. A must stop and savor the moment, with the absolute yumminess!

Stopped by mid morning after seeing a sign on the street for BBQ brisket and pastrami. They have a food trailer in a large grass lot off the main road(270) between Hawi and Kapa’au and you can sit outside on the grass or take food to go. Had a BBQ brisket sandwich on a fresh baked bun with barbeque sauce and coleslaw. The brisket was tender and flavorful — not dry! and the coleslaw was sweet and tasty. They also gave us a free taste of pork bacon — great! Fado and Shannon(the owners) were really nice; had good conversation with them and they are really into their food. Shannon makes fresh buns and coleslaw among other things and Fado does the smoking/cooking. Worth a stop if you are in the neighborhood for some local flavor.
