A $ 6 taco with some shredded cabbage and extremely fishy(old) fish… It was terrible. Our group threw away the food– without asking for our money back– as the staff was rude and entitled and at least we know better the next trip to Hana. Next door to this bad choice is a plethora of amazing food! Skip this place and save yourselves a waste of money. I hope the burro surfs better than the cook and cook.

Great place to stop at while doing the road to Hana. We got the fish tacos and the fish burrito. Super great pesto like sauce and some other special sauce made them tasty! Definitely hit the spot. Reasonable prices. Only takes cash.

We were lookin for a place to eat and options are limited and expensive in Hana and decided this place would work. We ordered an Ahi Taco & a Chorizo Taco. Glad they recommended that Ahi Taco because let me tell you it was Delish! The chorizo one had a bit too much grease would have been better if they drained it. It was okay but would have been better with a bit more spice or sauce of some sort. Both tacos had lots of meat which was a plus. The Ahi Taco was $ 6 and the Chorizo $ 5 I believe. A Little pricey for just one taco. Anyways the staff was friendly and this place gets 4 stars for that Ahi Taco! Yummmm.

Awesome fish tacos! The sauce they put with them is so good! Good price and good amount of food. They serve breakfast but we didn’t try that.

I totally underestimated this place. Maybe cuz I was under the mistaken impression that a generalist food truck can’t be that good. How can you be a coffee bagel truck and a mexican truck? Well they did and are and do both extremely well. Don’t pout and be sad when you get into Hana and the only place open is this place!

Fish tacos fabulous! Rice was super dry and the quesadillas were so-so. The girls who served us were super sweet.

Can’t beat this place for your late night dinner needs in Hana. Came through town after setting up camp in Kipahulu, and the whole town was asleep by 7pm on a Saturday. Ain’t got nothin but love for you, paradise! These gentlemen shmoozed us with their rugged good looks, tasty cuisine, and scintillating conversation. Scored a fantastic plate of mexican spiced rice, beans with depth, hella guacamole, and a fat quesadilla. These guys are working on their infrastructure, and deserve it, so don’t skimp on the tips! Sweet ambience with the string of lights overhead too… P. S. one of their special lady friends said I needed to mention something about their half-and-half or cream or whatever, so consider it mentioned. XOXO homies

Super people and a great deal to have on that to the seven sacred pools hike. Lots of fresh ingredients including Ahi and avocados. Prices are Very reasonable and the wait was only about ten minutes from ordering –served hot and delicious. We asked for ours to be spicy and they accommodated with a nice kick. Hours are good here too. Closed Monday.

I have been twice to Surfing Burro and had negative experiences both times. The first time I ordered a bean burrito and it took over an hour to get. The second time was today, thought I would give them another try. They advertise«hand crafted tortillas. What I got was a white tortilla straight out of a package accompanied with frozen vegetables, no beans or rice. I had also ordered a quesedilla because I was so excited about trying their«hand crafted tortillas». What I got was a VERY scant amount of cheese inside ¾ of a tortilla. No salsa or anything offered with it! They didn’t even give me the full order! To top it all off they charged me $ 8 for the veggie burrito and the next people who came and ordered the same thing right after me were charged $ 5 for a veggie burrito. As a local I find it appalling to get charged more than the tourists! What happened to honesty??? I will be letting everyone in Kipahulu know to go anywhere but Surfing BS! Visited November 2014

Seems like a two surfer-looking-guy run operation, bright orange food truck, see reviews for«Surfing Burro», this is same spot. Located Next to Travaasa Hana, easy to walk to for a quick bite or 1minute drive on Hana hwy. Breakfast burrito $ 8, chicken $ 10, bagel $ 4, chorizo burrito $ 10, coffee $ 2.50, tea $ 2, Kombucha $ 3, Juice $ 1.50. Simple yummy menu. The breakfast burrito has explosion of flavor! Everything is mashed together in delicious flavor. Good spice with nice salsa.

You can’t miss this place! They have the best tacos on the island. Not to mention, it’s in Hana. There isn’t many places to eat out here so to find something so high quality is rare. Definitely check it out!

We were looking for open places in Hana on the weekend(the selection is pretty limited) and we saw the red sign for The Surfing Burro Food Truck and drove in. What a find! 2 guys cooking Mexican food and some vegan baked goods in a food truck. Food was delicious and affordable. They have a couple of picnic tables and we ate and chatted with a few of the locals. Good times. Definitely a great place to check out(it’s right across from the Hana Ranch) if you’re looking for some great Mexican food in Hana.
