That was the worst meal I’ve had in a long time. Everything we ordered was so coated in salt it was completely inedible. Not to mention my 3 year old was served flat bread with sliced cheese barely melted on it and we were charged a full $ 14.50.

Stopped in here for a really late lunch at about 4pm. Ordered poke taco and edamame off the bar menu-both were delicious. Taco was awesome but the flavor of the sauce overpowered the fish –but the sauce was really good! Edamame was«spicy garlic» and served chilled. I would have liked it better warm but it was good and didn’t have an overwhelming garlic flavor which I was grateful for. Bartender was mildly friendly. Décor was nice, casual. Open air breeze with overhead cover and sits directly on a main road which detracts from the ambiance but makes it easy to find.

Honestly 6 Months ago wouldn’t have said it was that good maybe just OK. BUT went there for LUNCH on recent trip. I like what they have done with LUNCH menu it is improved by 100%. I haven’t been there at night in any recent trips so cant speak to that but happy hour is decent.

Why 3 stars — should be 5! We stopped in for dinner and were blown away. The 4 women had exceptional lava flows served in schooners. We had a caesar salad, hand made at the table with all of the dressing ingredients fresh and added individually — a great show and we all agreed it was one of the best caesar dressings we’d ever had! I had the best seared ahi steak I’ve ever had. The other five meals were rated very good to excellent. As it was one of the women’s birthday, we had Banana Royal, Kauai style, made at the table with mango, bananas, macadamia nuts, lots of butter, home made vanilla bean ice cream, Kalua, Cointreau and Brandy set on fire. It served all six of us. The price was moderate, great value for the money, but half what it would cost in L.A. If you want cheap, get fast food. If you want a memorable dining experience, try Wahoo.

This restaurant pretends to be more than it is. The service was efficient if just a bit perfunctory. The food was good but over-priced in comparison with other venues.

A splurge for certain on food that was only«so so», but the reader 101 was superb! Plus, the décor and server were delights.

Excellent local-beef cheeseburger, cooked to near perfection. Amazing homemade garlic fries. Good service. Right off the main highway in Kapaa. Quiet shaded outdoor seating with beautiful view of surrounding hills. A little limited on the selection for the lunch menu. But I would go back if I lived nearby.

We went in for 1PM lunch — the menu was extremely limited, which I think greatly affected our experience. A majority of the menu were burgers or fish burgers, with a couple of vegetarian flatbreads. A meaty flatbread would’ve been great to see. The Burgers we ordered were large, but the bun was unimpressive and soggy when they got to our table. The temperature of the several burgers we ordered were not correct /overcooked. It was disappointing to not have a side included with the burger to fall back on(fries were additional and around $ 6 I think… the fryer wasn’t working so we couldn’t order them). Finally the attention was disappointing. The waitress seemed uninterested and not welcoming. There were only a couple more guests eating in the large large dining room, so we wished we could’ve gotten better service, especially for the $ 20+ per person we paid for just a burger and a drink. I will say: the interior of the restaurant was really nice and modern. there were plentiful interior and exterior seating options. To get the most of your visit I would recommend going for dinner instead.

Food left a lot to be desired. I had the teriyaki sirloin burger and my husband had the tuna burger. Both were«wish» sandwiches. You wish there was more than bread. The salad bar was laid out in a backwards fashion — lettuce and dressing then toppings at the other end?!? The service was so so. Our waitresses were very nice and friendly when you could find them. The parking lot lines were painted either as a cruel joke or by a person from the Louis Braille school. They are too narrow for cars and the cement curbs don’t line up with the spots — so parkers beware you could get clipped. The only saving grace was the coconut royal dessert. Eat somewhere else and go for dessert.

We enjoyed a lovely Christmas dinner! With 3 picky teenagers, there was something for everyone. The salad bar was a little lacking and the soup container was empty. I pointed it out to a server, but nothing happened. When I told OUR server, she dealt with it right away. All in all, we had a good meal and very friendly service. Mahalo!

Stopped by here the other night for dinner. The menu is deceiving my good. I had the Ono burger and my companion had the teriyaki burger. Both surprised in a good way — the menu doesn’t fully explain how delicious they are! Each had distinct flavor a that I wouldn’t have guessed. Service was pretty good, but nothing overly stellar. The ambiance is a typical restaurant — nothing overly romantic, but still pretty good. Overall it was a good dining experience.

I really like this place. A little pricey, but really no complaints otherwise. I got the crab legs, and thoroughly enjoyed them. My husband got the filet mignon and stuffed shrimp with mashed potatoes and it was realllllly good! We got the chocolate soufflé for dessert and it was a really yummy treat.

My son and I ate dinner here on our last night on the island. Walking into the restaurant, you notice the lovley open concept with no walls between you and the outside. Coconut trees were swaying in the breeze that gently blew through the buildinng. Our waiters and waitresses were friendly, funny, and right there when we needed anything. The menu had a great variety of food; from fried chicken to steak, to seafood and local delicacies. The prices were very reasonable and the portions generous. There was also an extensive wine menu with prices that varied from cheap to very expensive. My only regret was that I had not eaten here earlier in my trip… because I would have come back to try some of the other dishes! This is a «must try» place.

We were hungry at a weird time — 5pm. Stopped in here and sat in the bar area. Amazing shrimp sandwich, ono sandwich, garlic fries and drinks. I had a fruity drink that was so very good, not too sweet at all. Some kind of coconut/pineapple/amaretto punch concoction. Garlic fries are in my top 3 ever. They were golden and crispy and not overpowering on the garlic. We didn’t look at reviews in advance because they haven’t been very reliable so far on our trip. Based off this initial visit it would have easily been 5 stars. We wanted to go back for the sandwiches again so we went again at night. They stop serving those at 6:30 though so we were unable to order again. Hungry, we ordered shrimp cocktail and shared crab legs. Reading the other reviews before posting this one I am sad to say I have to agree with others dining experiences at night. We were asked this time if we were locals or visitors and that shouldn’t matter. It was offputting to be asked. It indicates perhaps there is a different menu or pricing. They were understaffed and the bartender was so busy making all restaurant drinks and serving 4 other parties. I ordered the same drink and it was not as tasty, probably because he was so rushed. And our food.. .let’s just put it this way, my husband will eat anything and he said something in the rice tasted rotten. I’m certain our crab legs were reheated. As another mentioned, hot plate but only warm food. The shrimp cocktail looked beautiful but was chewy/rubbery. The saddest part is in reading the prior reviews this am, I recall our first visit we were told we couldn’t be served until 6 although the menu says they start serving sandwiches at 5. We were offered drinks instead. If this was a ploy for our money as tourists I am hurt and disappointed. We would have ordered drinks anyway and didn’t need to be conned, if that is the case. The people here seem so burnt out. Where is their passion for food and people? Someone there has it, I can tell by the amazing food we had our first visit. I feel sad that they’ve seemed to have lost the very things that could make them happy and this place thrive: making good food people love and that they are proud of. Feeling purpose and pride in what you offer to people, regardless of where they come from. In all honesty, they deserve less stars. They are serving questionable food to people. Reheating crab and old, previously cooked food can make people sick. But my heart really aches for them and the level of unhappiness it takes for people to get to this point. A point where the service provided by cook and wait staff is disconnected from the people they provide it to. I hope they find their passion and purpose again. I would love to visit for a punch cocktail and a deliscious sandwich when they do.

Stopped in for a drink. Bartender kept inferring about what I was looking for while in town; reference Craig’s list blah blah blah. Offered to help me out in the parking lot AND followed me out after I paid my tab. Not a gay dog but this was BS. Beware of bartender w mustache.

Was not too impressed with the service. We came with a rather large group – about 15 adults, 2 kids, and 2 babies. We made reservations, so the table was ready when we got there; however, it didn’t seem like they were used to having such a large party. We would order drinks and ask for things, and it never came. They seemed flustered. The food was just as disappointing. The portion of the fish was half the size of a standard restaurant. A lot of us ordered the banana flambé, and so two waiters prepared them by our table. The one waiter was explaining what to do to the other waiter as he was cooking. Not very impressive knowing your waiter doesn’t know what he’s doing. Shouldn’t management train their beforehand and not in front of customers? So unprofessional. We ate here because it was close to our hotel, but I will probably pass on this the next time I’m in Kauai.

Went for lunch(the lunch menu looks NOTHING like the dinner menu that’s posted online). The menu was simple — about 8 different kinds of «burger» type items(pulled pork, lamb, ahi, beef, etcetera), a couple of wraps and garlic fries. Food — mediocre(might have scored better if they’d actually brought what we’d ordered). Service — awful. We were one of 5 groups(I counted after the waitstaff complained about how«busy» they were). Example: 3 kids. Ordered: 1 chocolate milkshake, 1 vanilla milkshake, 1 pineapple milkshake. Received(15 minutes later): 3 vanilla milkshakes. Each«burger» item(except 1) required alterations upon receipt. And luckily we were killing time, because it took just over an hour for a burger and fries lunch. Not at all what we expected based on the name.

If you like being ‘managed’, ‘steered’ and ‘up-sold’ on drinks and dinner then stop by this place. I read several of the other reviews here and the insincere managers comments but see no way they will change because they are used to handling tourists who will never come back after their first visit. I have been here several times before and something very bad happened… maybe new management philosophy or new owners or just plain vicious greed. My last visit was 12÷29÷14. When I arrived, there were plenty of places to sit so I thought ‘well I can at least sit down at a table quickly.’ I approached the hostess station and the girl looked at me and said ‘I’ll be right back.’ 5 minutes later she came back and I told her dinner for two. She then asked ‘are you local or a tourists?’ I asked what it mattered. She then asked ‘what hotel are you staying at?’ I said I was there for dinner and would like a seat. She then told me I could wait in their bar and have a drink while ‘I get your table ready.’ The place was half empty! I asked her why we had to wait and she said ‘I need to go get two menus… but please wait in the bar.’ I walked to the empty bar where I was basically told order a drink by the bartender. I mean really… would you like to take my wallet and help yourself to my money? Don’t get me wrong. In Europe over this last summer I ate at several internationally renown 5 star restaurants. I have no problem spending my money on nice dinners. But when it’s done in the fashion of a carney barker at a county fair and I’m treated like a pigeon, I take offense. After a 15 minute wait for a readied table and menus why bother. I left! This restaurant steers you to the bar… then after a few drinks loads down the check while you are already half intoxicated. I’ve seen better service at reputable restaurants that pride themselves on their food and service… not up-selling you might expect at Mc Donald’s(would you like a large for 50 cents more?). All this after they have pegged you for a tourist. If you want nice go to L & L Barbecue next door. They hold no airs in their humble operations and actually have nice food. There were quite a few locals there too.
