We rented masks and fins for our family of 7. They charged us $ 45 per day per person for 7 days. I was not happy with the rate. They told us if we returned the equipment on Thursday, we would only pay for 4 days. They said this a couple of times when we rented the equipment, but my brother-in-law, returned his equipment earlies and they said the same thing. When I returned the remainder of the equipment, they charged us for the full week. One of the staff was great, but he was not there for the return. The rate was outrageous.

Great snorkel gear and beach equipment rentals. Rich was working here the day we came in. He was really friendly and helpful. You may book tours here(snorkel tours, kayak tours, zip line tours, etc.)

Love their prescription masks, and they gave us an unexpected refund when we brought back our one week rentals before the week was up!

Walked in looking to just get snorkel gear… walked out with a great set of snorkel gear AND a discounted Napali Coast dinner cruise. Richard was super helpful, willing to give recommendations for the best spots on the island, and quick to get everything in order. Great experience!

Best place to rent the gentleman running the store took his time with us and told us good places to snorkel. Thank you for taking the time even though your store was crazy busy.

Last 2 days of vacation here on Kauai, we decided to rent beach chairs. No problem they said. We paid for a 2 day rental. We picked the chairs up at 11 am on Tues., 4⁄26 and were told we needed to bring them back by 5pm closing time on Weds., 4⁄27. When we took them back today(4⁄27) at 3pm, Richard told my husband we needed to pay for an additional day because they should have been brought by 11 am today. There was no arguing with him. People are only as good as their word. Snorkel Bobs Kapaa is not the place to rent anything. They just screwed another tourist. I hope this saves you from the bad feelings we left with.

We went to Snorkel Bob’s to book some excursions around the island and received great customer service. Ask for Jonathan!

The guy was really friendly and patience with us being we have 5 curious boys. He offered kamaaina discount and even sold us a used child snorkeling set for a decent price. He also gave the other boys a piece to hold the snorkel to the mask for free. Awesome customer service.

Pretty disappointed with the gear we rented. The first time my daughter put on her fins the back split open and would not stay on so my daughters first snorkeling experience became quite challenging. Also, the looky board we rented was very old, bordering on junk. We dropped the gear off in the convenient night drop but I was surprised to see another charge on my credit card without any explanation or call or email… will not be going back, theres another rental shop next door.

Sometimes Unilocal confuses me and tires me out. I left review on snorkel Bob’s a week ago and nothing has changed. To paraphrase, I love the place they were very customer service oriented from my experience and I would definitely do business with them again whenever I’m back in Kauai. I don’t know why I had to update my previous Unilocal review but that’s it in a nutshell

I’m giving Bobs five stars because they called me to let me know that they were sorry for inadvertently charging me the adult price for my kid’s gear. Now that’s integrity! You don’t see that too often these days. They promptly gave me a $ 15 refund. Thanks!

We’ve used Snorkel Bobs on every island for years! They even carry tough prescription masks, which have helped one of our kids to see when she wasn’t ready for contacts.

So sad. The worst customer service ever!!! This was our 4th year renting from Snorkel Bob’s. NEVER again!!! My family and I and my buddy Jay and his family all came in to rent gear. 3 sets each. 2 guys helped us both very nice. As they where explaining to us how to return the gear. Jay and i said to the guy helping us that we where going to return them on a Saturday night as our flight out was the next day. He said no problem. Here’s the combo just put them in the box. We even asked if we should rent for an extra day. He let us know it wasn’t a problem. Fast forward a week and … So my buddy Jay was about an hour ahead of me returning his gear with no problems thanks to the great customer service he received from Jake. So I return the gear an hour later and a guy who works there calls me demanding a $ 30 late fee. I explain to him the conversation I had when I rented. He then tells me no way that was said and that I had spoke to the owner. And that he would never say that. I then said my buddy Jay had just retuned his equipment to Jake with no problems. He told me I was lying and that he’s been there all day and my buddy never was in there returning anything. Aaaaaaa yeah. About that. Good equipment bad customer service. Go literally next door and rent $ 24 for 3 sets for a week and they won’t call you a liar.

My wife and sdon and i have been coming to Kauai for 15 years and have tried them all, Snorkel Bob is the best. For all kinds of snorkel gear, even perscription masks they have grweat gear at great prices. I love their beach chairs complete with straps to wear as a backback, a kooler pouch for my lunch and a cup holder. The two guys who run it are windefful, super helpful pointing out best beacheasds or suggesting day trips. Dont waste your time just go to Snorkel Bobs.

We live on Kaua’i and rented snorkel gear from the guys at Bob’s when we had family visit and they were great! Super customer service, and very knowledgeable! We had such a great experience with them, we ended up buying our gear!

The response posted by the shop is fair enough BUT why is it when you walk in, there are no prices posted and you have to ask? The snorkel sets are very clearly separate and it would be easy to put a $ 15 $ 25 $ 35 price on each level. The reason they don’t is the upsell and that’s the rub.

Learn from our lesson and rent from someone else on the island. I’ve rented from Snorkel Bob’s before in both Maui and Oahu with good success. I urge you not to rent from the Snorkel Bob’s in Kapaa. I take some of the responsibility for not researching rates and doing my homework. They overcharged us and even if they had not, we came across many deals on the island that were considerably cheaper. I felt extremely taken and went back mid-week to discuss the charges. They would not make any accomodations. When I went to return our stuff they said we rented more masks and snorkels than we did. After 10 minutes during which time the guy said that perhaps they had overcharged us, they came back and said it was a keystroke error and that we had indeed returned what we rented(I already knew this). They still would not change the exhorbanant bill(over $ 250 for two + snorkel sets and 3 boogie boards for a week). In Kapaa they rent full snorkel sets for substantially less for the week.(keep driving North about 2 – 3 miles). The places in Hanalei at the Northern part of the island also offer much better deals. If you’re headed South, rent in Popiu. I realize Kauai is expensive and expect this when I vacation here. Seldom though have I felt like someone was taking advantage of me with little remorse.

Spend the extra money at Snorkel Bob’s; it is so worth it!!! Rented three sets for the week and we had a great time snorkeling, not a single issue. After turning in our stuff, we decided to save some money and go to another place in town with cheaper rates, and rented out sets for the day so we could hit our last must-do spot, Tunnels. MISTAKE! the guys there were super nice, but the gear wasn’t up to par… With the gear from the other unnamed place, each of us had at least one problem, including foggy masks, a painful mask pushing up at the bottom of my nose no matter how I adjusted it, and pain from the fins. I would have given 5 stars to Bob’s had the worker smiled even once. He was very professional, almost too much so. We were the only ones there so he could have relaxed a bit. Otherwise, a great place to go!

Rented snorkel gear for the week and brought the nice mask and fins to every beach we could. Helpful employee. Hubby upgraded his mask. Paid $ 34 for the week. What more can I add? Convenient option if you don’t want to bring gear and the experience was way better than at Boss Frogs.(We rented a boogie board there and though it was significantly less expensive, I’m not sure it was worth the annoyance.)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Snorkel Bob location! Been renting equipment here for years. The people that work here are so kind and helpful. Ritch is the BEST. We asked to rent a sun umbrella but they don’t rent sun umbrellas. Ritch was so kind and unwaveringly let us borrow his personal sun umbrella for the entire week. We utilized the hell out of that umbrella and are forever grateful. Thank you, Ritch! And thank you, Snorkel Bob! Great prices, great equipment and unbeatable customer service. We appreciate you!
