The key to this place is volume and stretching your dollar. The sweet and sour chicken and rice was about what you would expect from a grocery store deli. The staff was very friendly and helpful but there was some language barrier that made ordering a little complicated.

Tiny place with friendly staff and great food! We stopped in on Christmas Day, because of course Chinese food on Christmas. The food we wanted wasn’t visible in the buffet line, so they happily made it fresh for us. I had sweet ‘n’ sour chicken, and the wife tried garlic broccoli. Portions are generous! Both entrees were great choices, and I immediately wanted to come back to try more of the menu. Would definitely go again.

I’m from Oahu visiting Kauai with a tight budget. Have been to Number 1 in Lihue in the past, and liked them, but our group decided to eat dinner at Super Number 1 in Kapaa this time. We came in a little late for dinner, so the steam table was a little low on volume, but there were about a dozen choices. You can also order from the menu and there are also daily specials. I was hungry so I picked a 3 choice plate which was only $ 7.95. Volume. If you are really hungry, this place has very generous portions. It was«CHUNWAHKAM» size portions, but $ 5 cheaper. Taste. I got fried rice, honey shrimp, beef broccoli, and bbq pork. The fried rice was very simple, but it was good. The shrimp was ok. It’s honey walnut shrimp, without the walnuts. It was crispy outside and moist inside. The sauce was very light. The bbq pork was like a cross between kau yuk and char siu. The beef broccoli was pretty much the same as everywhere else. The dining room had about 6 tables, small, but it is a small place. The lone server was very polite and nice, always had a great big smile.

This review is for Super No.1 Chinese which is different and better than the No.1 Chinese chain around the island. This Super No.1 is next to the Kapaa Brick oven pizza. On average I liked them, good cheap Hawaiian Chinese food. If you grew up on it, you recognize Hawaiian Chinese as being it’s own style of standard chinese dishes. I like their convenience of being open late and their willingness to tackle any dish from Chinese to local plate lunch. They’ve got your back whenever you gotta get get something to eat.

Your typical Chinese take out spot. Decent food & good portion size for only a few bucks.

Surprisingly a good place to eat. The name alone would have me run away but since everything else was closed or had a 1+hr wait, we decided to give this place a try. I ordered the ahi with garlic and it wasn’t bad. The fish was overlooked but everything else was tasty. My son ordered the BBQ mixed plate for $ 9 and he got the largest amount of meat I’ve ever seen in a single order. My son loved it!

Surprisingly not bad. This honestly appears to be a very low-end Chinese BBQ spot, but turned out to be a couple steps above that. Atmosphere is utilitarian and cafeteria-like. Service was spotty, as the order-taker behind the counter spoke very little English. However, with the display of the order board and the accompanying food counter which housed the day’s specials, in-depth communication was not necessary. We pointed to what we wanted… the BBQ chicken and garlic shrimp combo. It was pretty good. No fountain bevs, only individual cans/bottles in the cooler, just like most other places on the island. This chain appears intermittently around the island, and this location seems to be just like the others. Try it — it’s reasonably priced, particularly for the amount of food you get. We were pleasantly surprised. You won’t rave, but it’s truly not bad.

Much like and taste like the other No. 1’s on island with what looks like a few more daily selections. Unlike the other No. 1’s, this place serves breakfast and for $ 2.99 I definitely will be checking it out soon. For the price you can’t go wrong but don’t expect anything but home-style cooking. Went back for the 2nd time in two days and was disappointed with the Cold Ginger Chicken as it was fairly dry. The ginger sauce was about average and could be improved. Besides the hot food line, there is a nice selection of cold sides. There is an ice cream freezer and I expect it will be operational soon. Credit goes to the family team who took on the challenge of opening this restaurant.

This restaurant was newly opened on Friday February 20th. Everything looked nice and neat. I know there are many NO.1’s on the island already, but I think this is the only one that serves cold plate(kimchi). Really delicious Chinese food for an affordable price. Plus, 10% off everything for the first two weeks! Hurry before the discount is over!
