Go for banana and pineapple! So yummy. I also tried blue raspberry the next day. I liked this place better than the place down the street. More flavor selection. Really yummy!

Late to open on several occasions. Went out of our way three times to be there at noon to try this ice cream. Each time the store is empty with no signs of opening soon. I don’t know if I was perhaps supposed to pick the locks and help myself? Anyway big big disappointment three times over. Lost a customer for life this time.

If you’re looking for shaved ice, this is your best option hands down! They have more flavored than you’ll know what to do with and the pricing is great compare to everywhere else we saw. Most places charge upwards of $ 6.50 for a small shaved ice bowl and this place only charges $ 3.50!!! You can also get ice cream on the bottom, cream topping, or any combination you can dream up. Don’t miss this shaved ice stop while you’re in town.

This is the best of the classic shaved ice shops! So many flavours, such amazing cups. Go there!!!

Meh. You get a lot and the ice is well shaved but pretty mediocre taste. Pretty sugary and some of the flavors didn’t actually taste like what you would expect(cherry cola didn’t taste like cherry cola at all). I’ll choose other places next time.

Overrated, the ice was chunky. Shaved ice in Oahu much better. Portions were big. Overall, average not good or bad.

Delicious! I ordered mango and pog shaved ice with vanilla ice cream and mochi, topped with snow cap. They are very generous with their portions. I couldn’t be happier! I can’t wait to go back for more.

I got multiple recs to go to this place from family and friends. I absolutely love shaved ice and eat almost two a day whenever I visit Hawaii, so I had to check it out. Ono Ono is fairly easy to find and there’s plenty of parking everywhere. There’s even a lot in front of the location(which is just a small stand next to other shops). There are also benches next to the shop for you to enjoy your shaved ice in the sun. I thought about giving this place a 4 because I already have a favorite shaved ice spot, but the price and variety at this place is too good to pass up. You can pick up to four flavors and add ice cream(which you should!) and other specialties for a dollar or so. There is a variety of flavors to choose from and you can get so many of them for one price… so why not! Also, I don’t know how to tell you how GINORMOUS this portion is(please see photo). I highly recommend sharing this one…

Large, delicious and you get 4 flavors! Plus half the price of others we tried, you can also feed the geckos at the seating area, just drop some on the ground and watch

Not the best shaved ice, not the worst. But I expected more(like Matsumoto –Oahu– status) since it’s hawaiian style. You can get up to 4 flavors on your ice so I got mango, lilikoi, guava, and strawberry. The mango tasted more like orange, the strawberry like cough syrup. The lilikoi and guava were passable. I got a scoop of vanilla ice cream(which they put in the middle) so the creaminess would help balance out the sweetness. Unfortunately the ice cream didn’t do much for the whole thing and it was far from«good» ice cream. On top of that, the wait was 20+ minutes! On a more positive note, the price is good: $ 3.50 for a big portion… But do yourself a favor and go try Wailua Shaved Ice around the corner.

their price is good deal. really can’t complain. However, the flavors are what you pay for. It didn’t get all the way to the bottom and was a bit watery-icy towards the bottom.

Probably the best halo halo on the island. The shaved ice is huge! It’s a fun little dessert shack to take your kids and there usually is a pretty long line! The acai bowl sucked. It was the smallest portion that I had on the island and although it tasted fine it was like eating 4 bites and being done. Don’t waste your time for the acai bowls there and go somewhere else. But if you want halo halo or shaved ice, you gotta go here!

It’s my go to old school Hawaiian shave ice. There’ve been more newer premium fancy places that have opened up like Tege Tege on the north shore, or the Fresh Shave in Koloa that use real all natural ingredients. But that’s another sub category of shave ice. Ono shave ice is good because it sets the bar high for traditional Hawaiian shave ice. The portions are huge and served in a big flower shaped plastic cup thingy and you can pick as much as 4 different flavors in your shave ice if you decide you want to customize it instead of picking an already made flavor combination. They have a lot of flavors and flavor combinations. I always have wanted to try the unique ones like Horchata Tata or Na’pali Adventure but I usually end up with my go to: passion fruit, guava, mango. You can choose toppings but I just get a snow cap(condensed milk). Hawaiian shave ice isn’t Hawaiian without the ice cream. Macadamia nut ice cream with the shave ice is a classic. Nowadays they have Halo halo, the Filipino ice cream dessert. Ono shave ice is good for what it is. Traditional shave ice with super sugary syrups and ice cream. The syrups aren’t premium and all natural but if you’re going to Ono you shouldn’t expect that.

Huge delicious shave ice! I got the sour cherry & pineapple combo. Loved it. Next time I’m going for sour cherry and lemonade. I posted a few photos of the menu. 50 flavors. This is a great location on the north end of Kapaa with a little parking lot.

Awesome shaved ice and friendly service. $ 3.50 per cone up to 4 flavors! The list of flavors are endless. The portion is huge. Enough to share if you want. Should try this place out if you are visiting the island!!! Only a few parking spots in front of the location but you can find parking on the street.

Drove past and saw a huge line so I thought it would be a good spot for a sweet afternoon snack. I’m not a huge fan of shave ice so I opted for the halo halo instead. It honestly wasn’t that good. I did like the ube ice cream on top cuz u could taste the taro flavor. But there was too much ice and the fruit and stuff was all from a can. Not a bad place, but not sure if it’s worth the wait or the $ 6. I’d maybe come back just for a scoop of ube ice cream.

The best sunny day cool down! In Kapaa(where all the good food is for me), we stopped for this sweet treat that’s large enough for two. There’s a wide range of flavors that you can customize, ice creams and halo halo. We ordered the Kauai Sunrise(passion fruit, pineapple, coconut, mango) with coffee ice cream in the center and a coconut snowcap. Yummy! P. S. Ono means delicious in Hawaiian :)

We stayed on the gorgeous island of Kauai for 9 days on our honeymoon. Through this 9 days of excitement, adventure, and vacationing, we ate a grand total of over 30 meals. Without a doubt, the best thing I ate of all the 30 meals, in all the cities, on the entire island… was what I ate at Ono Shave Ice. Lemme tell you, this thing was so good, it earned an entire page dedicated to its glory in our shutterfly honeymoon album once we returned to California. SOGOOD. We found Ono Shave Ice because it is owned by the same family that runs Ono Family Restaurant, my husband’s favorite breakfast on the island. All the syrups in the stand are made custom by the owner’s wife and the stand is mainly staffed by family members and friends of the owners. I was on a mission when we got to Hawaii to find something called halo halo, which is a dessert that is difficult to find in Northern California given its mixed ethnicity cultural deliciousness. When I found out that not only was it just around the corner from us, but that the locals consider it to be truly ONO, I was fixated on planning a special trip just for this experience. Halo halo is just a fraction of the offerings at Ono Shave Ice, but it is not to be regarded lightly. A parfait to fit an island king, this pinnacle of perfection is layer upon layer of good stuff that just gets better. A base of tropical fruits, jelly, and other goodies, topped with shave ice and condensed milk, with flan, ube ice cream and red bean, this is a glorious vase of splendor. I’ve always been a fan, but I can say unequivocally that this has set the bar for tropical desserts for probably the rest of my life. Beyond the mind blowing marvel of halo halo, we also had an asai bowl with granola and apple banana purée which my husband raved over. Service is fast, attentive, and precise… but they are so popular with tourists and locals alike that long waits are typical– so get there early for the best choices and shortest waits. We returned before the close of our vacation just to put our mouths on that ube ice cream once more, and agreed there is nothing like it we’ve ever had; it was sinply the best. Parking is only on the street, so you may have a walk ahead of you, but much like the waimea waterfall and tunnels beach, this kauai one of a kind landmark is both not to be missed, and so worth the journey.
