Received a gift for Christmas that didn’t fit. I took it in as soon as I could to exchange for a different size or something else. They would not let me, even with a gift receipt, because it was past January 7th. I tried to return it on Jan 13th. Do NOT buy gifts from here. This policy is ridiculous.

I love the style of the clothing they carry. I haven’t yet found another store in this area that has such a huge selection of clothing that appeals to my taste; they are comfy, elegant and unique. Many items are pricey, but if you have the money, and want to look classically comfortable, even in their dressier things, there’s no place better to shop. The jewelry is also one of a kind. The people working in the store are all very helpful and friendly. They have some great sales, where you can get a good deal on unique items. It’s a lovely change of style and shopping experience from the department stores. Most of the fabrics in World’s Windows are earth friendly. I’ve never seen any polyester double knit in there. Another great thing is they DO carry larger sized clothes and they are STYLISH!

Alright, so, I have a love/hate relationship with this store. I love it(and want to give it 5 stars) because it is filled with AMAZING finds from around the world! Now, the reason I hate it(and have instead given it 4 stars) is because it is PRICEY. I mean, ridiculously so. What makes it hardest to stomach is that you know these are all handmade in developing countries and purchased for no more than $ 20(I say this from travel experience). Then they bring them back here and mark them up at 500%(okay, using artistic license here — don’t know actual markup… but it certainly feels like this much!). I personally prefer to shop at Ten Thousand Villages where you can find similar items a bit more reasonably priced(though still often quite expensive)…the difference being that at least at Ten Thousand Villages it is all FAIRTRADE. This happens to be a very important and passionate value of mine. That said, Ten Thousand Villages is a national nonprofit and have quite a few stores, so the things made are done so for them. At World’s Window some of the finds are from true artisans and therefore more rare and highly unique. So, both have their place. Be sure to check out the back room! There are some great things you don’t want to miss! I also highly recommend walking through twice, because you will not catch everything the first time through! Décor, clothes, jewelry, musical instruments, accessories, candles, incense and so much more!

This is a cool place close to the Leopold Gallery. As the name implies, they carry clothing, jewelry and art work from all over the world. They were having a sale today, w/a draw your own discount promotion. I drew a 20% discount, so that made the teal rayon long sleeved shirt that had been marked down from $ 150 to $ 112 less than $ 90. In addition they have Balinese carvings and very beautiful raku wall hangings on the wall behind the sales counter. Lots to admire and to tempt.

Like Amy said, if you are a «dirty hippie» like me, you’ll like this store. :) The owners, a married couple, try their hardest to have products that are fair and free trade, as well as eco-friendly. Most of the clothing is more aimed for«older women”– long skirts, emus, etc(I’m not saying they are ugly, just sayin’ they aren’t really ‘fashionable’, if that makes sense.) Besides men and women’s clothing, they also have some jewlery(most is handmade) and folk art. Overall, the store is great for browsing, but I’ve never bought anything. This is mostly because everything is pretty pricey– the handmade glass beaded bracelets are up to hundreds of dollars! Sure, everything is really pretty. But affordable? not really.

What a sweet little store. I walked by the store this afternoon and was standing out front window shopping because I had my dog with me. One of the employees saw me gawking and he came out and invited me and my dog inside and even offered Muggle a little bowl of water. I don’t always trust Muggle not to ransack a place, so I carried him and went in to shop a bit. Shopping isn’t easy when you’ve got a 24-lb dog in your arms, but we managed. The first thing that caught my eye was the Day of the Dead merchandise. I have a morbid fascination with skeletons and a got a few little trinkets to add to my collection. Since I’m becoming more of a hippie every day, I was very interested in all of the eco-friendly merch they carried. I can’t wait to come back sans pooch and check out the clothes.

A great store for those of us who embrace the unusual but still like to look pretty. The dresses I have from World’s Window are probably the most frequently complimented pieces of my entire wardrobe(but, yeah, not so cheap — still, I’d rather spend that money here than in a Plaza store to buy something that looks like everything else). Their sidewalk sales have a wealth of cheap goodies.
