Tower Tavern

I just recently tried Tower Tavern because I wanted to watch some sports. Not that I know a lot about the sports, but some days my testosterone gets the best of me and I feel like drinking a beer and watching sports. This, so far, is one of my favorite spots to watch them. The bartender Christina is very sweet and nice. You’ll notice from any of my reviews I need to know the nice bartenders names so I can rave about them. Being a bartender once myself I think they need some more recognition. Food is great, I had the pesto chicken sandwich, which I will have to get again. Great basil flavor and creamy. Will definitely be back.

This place has amazing food and a menu that offers just the right amount of options. The grilled chicken caesar salad is one of the best I’ve ever had, and my boyfriend loves the Cuban sandwich. I’ve heard that their Triple Grilled Cheese Sandwich is amazing, but I haven’t tried it yet. Their drinks are always delicious, and the relaxed, casual environment can’t be beat. Best bar in Martini Corner by far.

Came here to watch a world series game. Service was great and really friendly. I’d say the crowd skewed to 25 and up… definitely a lot of people in their 30s and beyond. I got the spin dip and it was pretty good, I liked that they grilled the pita. Overall, I would come here again and also recommend it to others.

Tower Tavern is the place to watch sports in mid-​town Kansas City. First, there are monitors everywhere. In nice weather, the windows roll open to let in fresh air. The servers are very helpful and efficient. The wings are may be the best in Kansas City. The sandwiches and pizzas are equally top notch. I love this place. Highly recommend.

sad to say it was ordinary even though the tomatoes are wonderful right now they weren’t on the sandwich
The fries were not hot they arrived «five minutes after being served» temperature
The toasted bread was toasted a little too hard to be comfortable eating and I have a pretty durable chomping mechanism

This is a great spot to watch a Royal’s game. The best spot on Martini corner it has good bar food and a relaxed atmosphere, really the ideal neighborhood bar. The only concern is that it can be understaffed at times if you are at a table. Nonetheless, this is a spot we go out of our way to hit on occasion.

Came here after a disappointing experience at barrel 31. This place got our food and drinks knocked out fast. We had an amazing time, staff was friendly and the bar was even busy. Food was fantastic too, way beyond normal bar food. We’ll be back!

This is definitely the best bar in town to enter through the window. They leave the big boys open so much it’s far easier to choose your own entry than to wade through the crowd near the door. Especially use this tactic during the End of the World Pub Crawl; Can’t let the zombies win!
The décor and feel are a bit sports barish, but really there isn’t much of a theme. Everything about the bar is damn convenient though. There’s a deck out back, a quieter room on the east side, and a well stocked bar on the west. The food will surprise you with how good it smells, usually making everyone nearby you exclaim, «Damnit, why didn’t I order that?» Their chicken pesto pizza is legit!
During a world series game I took a short break from watching to play the Walking Dead pinball, determined to make the large zombie spill its guts. Due to this I missed seeing some great plays that got the Royals ahead by 4 as I recall. So while my instinct was to watch the game, my friends said my pinball skills were leading the Royals to victory. Thankyou for helping me help the Royals win that game, Tower Tavern.

Nice bar with underrated food. Lots of TV’s, very spacious, and a great spot to watch a game or hang with friends.

Tower Tavern is my go-​to bar in KC.
When they are on their game they have the best wings in town, however the quality isn’t always consistent for every visit. I usually eat the wings a couple times per month and get a subpar batch about 1 out of every 5 visits.
If you are a sports fan, this is a great spot. Every time I go there they put whatever game I want to watch on one of the many TVs. Plus, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
There are a couple minor negative aspects that keep me from giving tower 5 stars. They really don’t offer any good drink specials so if you stay a few hours the tab ends up being pretty pricey. Also, if you eat there between 12 – 1 you’re most likely going to have to wait an excessively long time for your food (30 – 45 minutes). This is also the time when the wing consistency takes a drastic turn for the worse.
Overall, Tower is a great place to have a drink, watch a game, and eat some wings.

The staff, at least the waitress we had was the most unfriendly person I’ve ever come across in the waitressing field. I bartend/​waitress myself and I would never treat my customers as she did. Very rude, rolled her eyes at us anytime anyone needed something, and the place wasn’t busy enough for her to not try and help her customers a little more than what she did. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they like unfriendly people!!!

Great staff, atmosphere, and trivia on Tuesdays! Lentil soul is a must have. This is my go to being new into KC area!

Short and sweet. Just your average sports bar. Lots of bar seating and screens to preoccupy you, pretty roomy actually. They also have a game room with pinball, pool, darts, and etc. Seeking more excitement, we vacated after about 30 minutes and ventured across the street though.

Went in on a Wednesday evening for co-​workers bday HH party type deal. The service was friendly. Although there were only 2 people working the entire place. So wait times were hella long!!! But when Id go up to the bar to get drinks instead of waiting for table service they calculated everything without qualms.
The hot wings were par for the course. The pizza was actually REALLY good! Seriously. Got the pesto artichoke and the cheeseburger. Both of which were hand crafted and decorated. Flavors all went well together. This was eaten an hour before actually being technically «drunk» so trust my words.
Other than 2 guys working a fairly packed house on a Wednesday night… It was a chill spot for a nice drink and bar food. Oh… TURN ON YOUR A/​C!!! I wont hold it against you because no one in KC is turning their A/​C on… Hellerrr its 90 degrees!

My girlfriend went yo meet a friend there tonight to meet a friend.
She said she walked in and got harassed by a drunk at the bar sitting with female employee giving her dirty looks. First impressions mean everything!
I will never step foot in there again!

This is a nice space, open & airy with lots of TVs. Service was just fine for me!
The food… Maybe I was just ordering the wrong things. The bean dip app was just ‘ok’ there were two scoops, a red bean dip and a green edamame dip. I’ve been on an edamame kick lately but that green dip wasn’t good. The red was better but overall the dish wasn’t impressive. Boring as hell.
Then bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer.
For me, again not very good because the bacon was jiggly. I like my bacon crunchy. It has a better flavor and texture when crisp, in my humble opinion.
Lastly, the chili. We’ll problem #1 it was cold!!! Chili should be served steamy!
I think that ruined my ability to explain it any further. Chili should be hot, stewing all day, releasing spice and flavor. If it’s not hot — I am rendered speechless.
Still thought the bar was cool.
Surely there have got to be some great things on the menu if I had enough stomachs to try everything! It’s nice that it’s not your typical bar food and is an upgrade. Just wish that what I had was delicious.

Dear Tower Tavern,
How I love you. You complete me. I liked your old happy hour food before better, but I still love you anyways. I love your wings and your house salad and your cheese sauce on the your warm ass pretzels and your sliders with fries and cream cheese and bacon. One thing, You need new music on your IPOD, and kick those noisy ass dental students out back. oh and maybe your own parking lot so that crappy mexican place across the street won’t quit stealing yours.
also, happy hour until 7 should be the LAW and not the except.

I come here because of convenience and proximity. For a sports bar, the food is actually a step above just burgers and pizza. I mostly just have a few beers when I am here, but on my last visit I started off with the soft baked pretzels and then had a french dip sandwich. The pretzels were average. Don’t get me wrong, they were inhaled by our group. The sandwich was surprisingly good and the au jus tasted homemade.
Now for the service. Sad, sad, sad. The waitresses here seem to always have a scowl on their face and overall appear to hate their job. Also see Erin M.‘s review… I complete agree with her! I have noticed that the service staff does on occasion act a little friendly to the males.

After years of hanging out at Tower Tavern (and previously Café Trocadero), I finally get around the writing a review about it. I’m ready to designate TT with «home bar» status as my go to watering hole for good times with friends any night or day of the week.
I end up here quite a bit for weekday lunches with co-​workers when I can get away. The food is top notch and MUCH better than your traditional bar fare. Try the pizza special, any of the sandwiches, or the appetizers for a perfect lunch nosh. Happy hour brings with it great prices on apps and drinks, and the kitchen is open late for late night carbicide.
The staff and servers are always attentive, friendly, and on top of your orders. My only complaint would be TT being short-​staffed at times when the bar and lunch crowd gets busy. Though sometimes a little slow, the servers always retain a smile and positive attitude.
Love this place and everything that goes with it. I’m stingy with 5 star reviews, but TT definitely hits the mark.

Tower Tavern your service is consistently bad. The reason you get two stars is solely for your food. It is always spot on! My friends frequent this place and I still have no idea why.
This time your server was terrible. I have no idea what her name is and don’t care to ever know her name. She was pretty non existent during our stay and when she did come over and we would order drinks she would walk away in the middle and not we would have to call her back or wait for her to come back for the rest of our party to order. What.the.hell. had you maybe asked if anyone else wanted a drink or waited for the rest of the table to order then you wouldn’t have to make several trips.
A few friends were sick of waiting for her to come to the table so they ordered drinks at the bar. As one of my friends was walking to the bar to order something she let the waitress know she had a tab at the bar. the waitress walked over to our table, grabbed some trash off and made a comment «i’m just your server but whatever». Could you have made that comment to yourself. Definitely turned our table off to ordering from her. The other person who started a tab at the bar was going to transfer his tab to the waitress. Not anymore, at least the bartender was pleasant.
As I said, go for some quick food. Don’t go if you think you will get good or even remotely quick service.
