Very Disappointing food. The samosa wasn’t like a samosa at all. I don’t think it should be called Indian. The quality of food is too bad.

Huge selection of spices(only 2 $/bottle!), great meals with a range of spiciness for meat and veggie plates, and nice location right in the market. The only problem is I can’t have it all.

We were walking by this store and the wonderful smells made us stop. We ordered the veggie curry, spicy and a spinach/feta«pie» to go. The curry was delicious and came w a salad. The spinach pie was very tasty. We will definitely be back next time we visit the market.

I’m sold off of the customer service alone. The made to order food is just a bonus. The food is consistently good and so is the service. They have non vegetarian items as well as vegetarian items, and they’ll even make it vegan. Everything is made when you order it and it’s always good. Love this place

It was the splendid space where a fragrance of the spice spread through in a shop!!! I can choose hotness. An Indian dish here is the best. I want to come again and again.

Tikka House is a must visit in the River Market Make sure you ask for the hummus! The hummus is not on their menu but it’s one of the hidden treasures! Also, don’t forget to try their fresh, warm naan! The owner of Tikka House is very motherly and sweet and recognizes me every time I visit. The atmosphere takes me back to when I was in the Middle East; the wonderful scents and décor are a delight and bring back feelings of nostalgia.

Great little spot in City Market, deceivingly labeled as Indian but really offering an excellent selection of Arabic/Mediterranean offerings as well, including fresh zaatar, which is not on the menu but they’ll make it if you ask. I had a great spinach/feta pie along with a tasty eggplant salad made with pomegranites and walnuts. Seating is a bit uncomfortable and cramped but all in all this will be a revisit whenever I’m down to the market.

Finally not a spicy curry rice! I loved the veggie lunch and baklava is the best! The girl is really sweet and helpful! I’ll be back for sure!

I’ve had about everything on the menu, it’s all been very good. The lamb kabobs and samosas are excellent. Staff is always very friendly. We buy tons of spices there as well, their Greek spice blend is the best we’ve ever come across. They have some of the best house made tzatziki sauce ever, you can buy a good sized tub of it for $ 5, well worth it. Highly recommend.

The food is flavorful and it’s a good deal. You really can’t get anything like this anywhere in Kansas City. It’s different than any other Indian I’ve ever had. Try the pita pockets or any of the curry dishes. Awesome hangover and just general recovery food, hearty but not too heavy.

This place was awesome! The spices and the food are great deals. Had the beef samosa, very tasty and good sauces. The lady who served me was delightful and worth the trip just for her beautiful energy.

The Samosa was the best I have ever had and it came with fried dough chips, red pepper oil, and tzaziki. The gyro pita pocket was delicious as well! Thanks.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of Saturday morning shoppers at City Market this is a slightly calmer spot to sit and rest if you need it. However, don’t sit without buying the handmade pita pocket sandwiches which are served with fresh tzatziki sauce and really spicy hot sauce upon request. They come in various versions. Also for sale is fresh-made hummus. If all you’ve ever had is the stuff in the jar at the supermarket, you’ll be rightfully delighted with the taste and experience of this hummus.

There’s no accounting for what this place is. The decorations are Indian, the food is Greek, the groceries they sell are Indian. Lucky them, Indian and Greek are my favorite types of food, though I’m sure my Turkish friends will be harassing me after this to tell me how the Greeks stole all their food from Turks. Freaking $ 2 pita pockets will hook you on their goodness. There’s a reason you’ll often see lines out the door on Saturday here, you want something warm and tasty to dip in your tzatziki sauce. I’d go for the steak or chicken myself, as I love the larger gyro there. That mint tea for a dollar is also pretty killer if you want something in your hand as you peruse the market. Seating is a bit tight inside, be ready to be friendly.

Family owned, operated and its all done with love. Best and probably only time to come is lunch where you will find specials like butter chicken with rice and salad for 6.99 or home made bread filed with spiced lamb, cheese, or beef for $ 2. Look forward to coming here every river market trip. Samosas are also worth a trip and let’s not forget the spices at $ 2 for a hefty scoop will make any novice cook into a wonder. Lamb rib is my favorite and have sent many there way to find it.

This place is like a fast food version of Mediterranean food. But it’s not particularly fast. Or extraordinarily good. But you can’t really expect gourmet from a tiny food-court restaurant sized place buried in the River Market. Come here for a quick pita pocket while you peruse the market. That’s what I do. I’ve tried their other sit-down fare and it’s not bad. Those pita-pockets, though, it’s like the taco bell of Greek food. They’re not really all that spectacular and yet I find myself ordering them every single Saturday. Good hung-over food. Lots of carbs. It comes with a side of tzatziki sauce and some chili sauce that make it complete as far as I’m concerned.

Cool little place in the River Market that I’ve always wanted to try but would always go to Burrito Brothers, Minsky’s or the Vietnamese joint. Glad I finally tried it. I had a lamb kebab with saffron rice, salad and the cucumber sauce. It was delicious and the perfect size for lunch so I didn’t keep over with a food coma. But, enough to get me through to dinnertime. The young lady behind the counter gave me a hot cup of cinnamon tea to warm me up while I waited. They also have a nice selection of bulk spices and I bought some garam masala, green cardamom pods and ground black cardamom which will come in handy for my Indian cooking forays. I’ll be back. The price for lunch was decent too. The young lady behind the counter was very friendly, very helpful, very professional and very welcoming. I really appreciated that, not knowing much about Indian spices.

Oh, it’s okay. I didn’t do much research ahead of time and expected a larger menu, but in reality there are only a few choices. The line was pretty long, and it took many minutes to even be able to order. But the service, when I did, was very friendly. The food took about 10 minutes, so not too bad. I ordered the Chicken Tikka lunch, which comes with rice and salad, as well as a cucumber sauce. I asked for it as spicy as possible, and they seemed to take me seriously and promised for it to be fiery. But, when the food came out, it was barely mild. Really, truly disappointing. The chicken itself was moist and had decent, though not amazing, flavor. Rice was okay. Salad was decent. Cucumber sauce was nice and refreshing. All in all, it was rather«fine», and a true disappointment on the spice. I would like to come back for the spices, which look plentiful, good and affordable. But for food, I don’t much need to rush back.

Great customer service and very friendly every time I’ve been in. I’ve bought quite a few spices from here and they have a huge selection all for ~$ 1 – 2 a scoop! I ordered a beef samosa and a chicken pocket recently and it cost about $ 5. It came with two sauces and some crispy pita chips(?). Fulfilling, delicious, and cheap! They have a lot of options, I’m hoping to try the feta or potato pocket next time I’m in City Market :)
