As a kid I used to accompany my dad to the hardware store in hopes to get a Nut Roll(remember those?) at the end of the trip. Guaranteed a candy bar, I looked forward to hearing my mom suggest home repair while my dad grudgingly grumbled, «Yes dear.» Aside from the sweet treat, I slowly started to appreciate the items found at hardware stores. The excitement of diy projects, the smell of sandpaper, the sturdiness of nuts and bolts, the pure ideas of making your own. It’s so awesome! I came across Sutherland’s because I needed hardware to make my own bookshelf. After doing some research, I found that Sutherland’s had everything I needed in one store(and it’s close to my house). It’s a big store! Sales people were really nice, walking me through all I would need for my project(obviously, they make things too). It was awesome because it wasn’t a Home Depot, I felt like it was more community oriented(though it is a national chain – just can’t escape them these days). Price was just right – only cost me $ 40 to make my bookshelf! They had lots of other things too, like a lawn stuff, appliances, pre-made furniture, fencing, etc. I guess a typical big, hardware store place. Though they didn’t have nut rolls, I will be back when I need to make something else
