If i could give a nonstar I would I come here often and tonight one of my friends left with my phone so I told the security guy I would be right back that I needed to get my phone he said ok. When I came back he would not let me back in and said that I needed to go. I told him I had my card open at the bar and asked if I could at least go back in and close it he said no. I have never had such a bad service anywhere I will never go back and they have lost a really good customer.

This was like the 3rd stop of the night and many drinks on a very cold night in KC on a Saturday night. A beach type theme bar in the Kansas City Power & Light District with women walking around in bikini tops(I know they were kinda freezing!) The music selection was okay and it was not too crowded and a small dance floor. It was just okay, nothing special.

After my husband lost his cell phone(brand new of course) tried using ‘find my phone’ app, knew it was in P&l but couldn’t pinpoint. Thought lost until Luke called, had it safe and sound. Nice guy, very helpful. Next time in KC we’ll go back!

Awful customer service! Scott, the claimed manager, is awful, rude and terribly disrespectful. So sad, was just looking for a good time as a full adult out with my young adult kids. Don’t go if you want a good time cuz it will most likely be spoiled. They are only looking for volume… NO customer service what so ever.

You gotta come here in the right frame of mind for this place, it’s here to fill your longing for the opposite of the center of the US. Beach beach bitches! They’re going to loudly play popular music on the speakers and Michael Jackson videos on the screens. You’ll want to go here if there’s a game being shown on the big screen. Someone will want to dance with you inside or out, and they host private parties on their deck. It can get very crowded. Sometimes they use blacklights, so if you wear a peacoat here in the winter you can surprisingly look like you were on the unfortunate side of a porn scene. Also at this bar be ready to ask yourself why everyone looks so young. It’s because they are young, and you are not.

From a guy’s perspective there were plenty of girls in bikinis which was awesome. Otherwise this place isn’t great. Poor selection of booze and not easy to get a drink inside do to odd bar placement.

Awesome bar! Wonderful staff and fun music! Only thing I didn’t like was that they had small tables near seats that were kind of in the way. If it wouldn’t have been so busy then they would have been great to set our drinks on.

I came here the other night with a group of people and was fairly disappointed. The environment is fun. I enjoy their music of some throwback jams, club music, and top hits. Hearing Backstreet boys in a bar will always make me happy. I went up to the bar to grab a drink and the bartender & some girl who I was assuming was a friend of hers talked for 20 minutes. I am standing there waving my money along with a big group of people and she continues to ignore everyone. I then walk over to another part of the bar to a different bartender. I still had to wait 10 minutes to make the simplest of drinks. It is super frustrating when you are trying to have a good time with your friends and it takes you 30 minutes to get a drink. The dance floor is fun but gets super crowded. There are some scary/sketchy people that are on the dance floor so it’s best to stand on the patio or at a table. Safe to say I wasn’t here long.

I dont know what to say… We went to P&L… My first time going whilst living here for 4 months… I was disappointed. There were girls walking around in bikini tops and jeans shorts that had no business doing so. *As bigoted as it sounds… Its still true* The shirtless men were sculpted which made them more noticeable. There were boxes I wanted to do box-jumps on… But too slippery from all the spilled drinks by dancing fools. The drinks were waaay over priced, but the sexy bartender did hook up my birthday boys drank so that was nice. The girl at the coat check/cover charge box was rude. You know who you are, because you know you be rude… ALL. DAY. LONG. Then a wedding party of about 40 – 50 came in and stole the show. It was awesome to see a bride in her $ 8000 wedding gown(trust me… it was nice) saturate all that spilled alcohol. Not my place for an after wedding throwdown… But they were having fun. This was the only«dancing» place we went to that night after McFaddens, because we did not want to pay cover again for something just as terrible… The only reason this isnt 1 star is relativity to the rest of the joints there and the sexy bartender that took care of the birthday boy. Ive been to these kinds of dance/bars places before… And I did not expect this on the P&L.

Fun music as it’s not bad loud rap music but stuff you can dance too. Mixed ages as I’m on the older age bracket of power and light. Yes thee girls are in bikinis and do cheesy dances on the bar with a horse head or two but a pretty fun place if you want to dance.

Wasn’t sure about this place since the bouncers at the entrance had already put me in a bad mood, but after a drink or two, the place started to grow on me. The crowd was great and the bartenders were quick. Went there with a big group, and stayed until the lights came on. Too bad I don’t live in KC because I would go back in a heartbeat.

I won a free happy hour drawing at Shark Bar, for which I am appreciative of the 9 free drinks for my entire party(3 free drinks an hour), but I feel kind of mislead! I had never been to happy hour at Shark Bar before so maybe that was my bad, but when they said free food buffet, I thought that was something special for my winning! Nope, not at all, food buffet was for everyone and, as a result, there was nothing left when I got there! The waitress also told me they were going to refill(it was only about 8:15PM) but they never did. Ridiculous. TBH, I probably would not have chosen to come here on a Friday night if I knew that my free happy hour winning did not consist of anything special. I think the music is whatever here(they tend to play more older 80s kind of stuff) but the décor is also a bit kitschy in my opinion. They do have a nice patio area that is roped off, from which you can see the main stage, but seating is limited and it just got way too crowded later on in the evening. I should also mention that I’m sick of these types of P&L, kind of douchy, overly Barbie-fied crowds so my review might be a bit biased… but hey, it’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it!

I haven’t the slightest clue as to why this place gets such bad reviews. Maybe its from the younger bunch. I however loved this place. It was the favorite place I went to in all of KC. The music was wonderful, the DJ’s played our requests, the staff was fun, and I liked the atmosphere. It had plenty of room on the dance floor for everyone to have fun. I ordered a Red Stripe though, thinking it would be the standard 11.2 oz for about 4 bucks or so. They pulled out a whooping 24 oz bottle. I never heard of such a thing, and it was 9 dollars! I really just wanted something small, because I was full from all the drinking I have been doing, but I was also kind of happy, because I never saw an awesome big bottle like that. All in all, if I ever decide to come back to KC, I would definitely come here again.

Eh– not a fan. I think the issue was more with the type of people hanging out here rather than the bar itself. They have a cool outdoor space with this hanging rope structure that is pretty cool to check out. The inside is just a lot of really young kids having fun, but also those types out looking to start fights– which I can’t stand. The music was ok, I was all about hearing some awesome 80’s music but it wasn’t a good selection at all. We had a drink then left, not worth staying.

It’s always fun to dance to songs 10 – 15 years old but not so good when the DJ can’t mix at all. There were some interesting performances from an MJ-impersonator to some two Magic Mikes singing BSB. Seems like one of the more sloppier places in the Power & Light district which may or may not be a good thing depending on your mood.

The Bartender was nice, I ordered the $ 9 Beach Pail Punch, which was the top billed drink sounded like a «famous» one there and claimed to have«Secret ingredients» and if those secret ingredients include moldy feet then that sounds about right. The drink was terrible, like a naty light mixed with cheap cheap liquor and water. I had my friends try it before telling them i hated it and they all made the same face I did, wtf is this? blehhhh One of my friends grabbed it and tried to get it exchanged but they wouldn’t do anything at all about it. Whelp, i know one bar we are never going to again.

My friends and I were dancing in the ‘common area” of Power and Light when I had to use the bathroom. {Found bathroom. Did my thing} Returned to dance floor and my friends were gone. {Almost had a panic attack thinking about getting stranded in KC after dark} After about 20 minutes, I finally got a text saying they had moved to the upstairs floor of Shark Bar. $ 5 cover for guys, free entrance for girls. Found friends and within 5 minutes, they decided to leave. Thank God it was ladies’ night at Shark Bar. I think I would have cried if I had to pay a cover and then had to leave 5 minutes later. Oh, and they had these cool lights where everywhere that was white glowed in the dark.

Felt like bartender overcharged because I asked prices for beer vs well drink. He said beer $ 4.25 and well $ 5. But when I ordered 3 beers and cran vodka splash pineapple he said $ 5.50 so I decided on screwdriver instead making what I thought was a well drink. Somehow 3 beers and one screwdriver was $ 24. Given prices $ 4.25/ $ 5 quoted I don’t believe the downtown tax rate is that high to make bill what it was. Sorry to sound petty but its merely the principle that he said a price but I don’t believe that was what was charged. If the price adds up then its all good, but based on what we were told the numbers don’t add up. By the way, Friday nights free for women and $ 5/guy entrance.

We got a few beers from the Shark Bar last Saturday when we needed a break from drinking whiskey at the KC Whiskey Tour. The servers were friendly and attentive and the beer was cold.

Have you ever thought, what I really want to do while drinking tonight is cram myself into a small area, preferably with unpredictable temperatures and humidity, then rub myself against other sweaty/clammy people who may or may not be completely hammered, all the while being subjected to overpriced drinks and poor bartending? If so, you should definitely check out Shark Bar. The idea is great — beachy bar, with a small dance floor, couches, a little patio off the side, a cabana area, etc. Unfortunately, there is just not enough room to make this an idea that works. It’s more of a shitshow, with a very small dance floor and long waits for drinks. The bartenders seem to have processed through their small brains that without their shirts on, they would be what has traditionally been considered«good looking.» Unfortunately, I don’t care how tight your bikini is if it takes you thirty minutes to take my order and five minutes to open a Bud Light. Also, be careful they don’t put extra drinks on your tab. If you’re looking for a really crazy time, don’t mind paying for cover and some high priced beverages, Shark Bar might be worth a trip. But, I don’t think it is somewhere that most people would want to frequent past the age of 22 or so.
