Great selection of spirits and mixers, including some that are impossible to find in other liquor stores.

Great, large selection of beer here! Stuff from breweries all around the country, but especially… you know it… Boulevard! This place saved my trip here while I was out and about looking for the newest releases. I checked three other stores who said they had sold completely out. But, Royal, either anticipating the sale correctly or buying every other store out and then reselling it, had just what I was looking for! The clerk didn’t talk much, but whatever, I found my beer. Thanks Royal Liquors!

Even being just a couple hours to the south, Kansas City seems to get quite a few more breweries than we enjoy down in Wichita. I figured it was time for me to take advantage of this on a recent trip through town and was happy to find a bottle shop that was crammed with the giant variety of craft brews that I as a millennial beer drinker have come to take for granted. With a couple selections from Perennial my back seat, and a fresh tank of gas, I was on the road again.

If I could give them a lower rating, I would. Royal Liquors has a large selection of wine, however, extremely poor quality and customer service. We purchased a bad bottle of wine {cork and taste immediately reflected it}. Rather than apologizing and refunding our money, the arrogant clerks told us sometimes that just happens and refused to exchange or refund our moldy purchase {less than 24 hours from purchase.} From the appearance and amount of dust on the bottles of wine, we should have known that the quality of their product and customer service would match.

Nice selection of craft beers, always have the hard to get stuff. Even their wine selection has some of those hard to find gems that I love.

The staff is friendly. Especially Alan who is the manager. He is so knowledgeable about wine I hardly make any decisions without asking him first. A real find is his wine blog seriously NO one knows about it. (I think there are only 20 subscribers) But he keeps notes about every wine he tastes to help him memorize each one that a distributor brings in. It is very bare bones blog just like the store but I like the lack of flash and bling personally.

I have to say I’m not a comparison shopper so I can’t really speak to the prices of the store as compared to competition so I’ve left my review to the things that matter to me. Which are mainly customer service related stuff.
They also do wine tastings in the store on a regular basis but I’ve never made it down to one cause they are usually on Thursdays and that is bowling night for me.

Best beer selection around. Friendly, smart, helpful staff. One of their buyers is a beer fanatic and their selection shows. This great local store rivals most superstores. They have a great discounted wine selection. Since it is in MO you can also buy your mixers at the same time, which I really appreciate. You know it’s a great place when everyone from the local yuppie to the highway panhandler shops here.

What a great place to buy fuel for my car and my liver. Royal liquor, is a gas station and a liquor store located in Kansas City, MO. The store is absolutely crammed with booze. The left side of the store is aisles and aisles of wine, followed by chilled malt beverages and rows of bottled liquor and finally coolers of beer.
The best part of the whole journey is that while your car is filling up with gas, you can stock up on alcohol and even a spicy pickle or beef jerky and be out in time to throw the gas cap back on your ride and hit the road.
