Pizza is amazing! I always stop in when I’m in the area.

Best pizza in the Waldo/State Line corridor areas! Owners are always friendly and helpful with our kids, and the pie is excellent. Crisp crust, fresh and abundant toppings.

This nice little pizza joint has a solid lunch deal, and is well worth checking out. They are freshly renovated, and have a few TVs to watch while mowing down some great pizza. The pizza is a little like Fun House, with a crispy, flat crust and a balanced tomato sauce. Good cheese blend and quality ingredients. It doesn’t blow my socks off like Waldo’s does, but then again, I hold WP above the rest. Very clean restaurant, and can be a little harried at lunch time. I went a few days ago and the owner was the only person working as her cook(s) were no shows. It didn’t slow things down too bad though. I really like the Pepper Ranch dressing on the salads too.

I’ve been back to Pizza Oven a few more times since my initial review and have not been disappointed. The pizza’s are always fresh, with plenty of pepperoni and cheese. However, they never seem to be very busy. They need to step up the marketing a bit to bring in the crowds. If you haven’t tried it– do. You won’t be disappointed.

Pizza Oven is yet another locally owned pizza place in the Kansas City area. It is located in South Kansas City off of Stateline. The pizza slightly resembled chain pizza, a thick bready crust(not greasy) with a sugary red sauce. I had a few slices of the vegetarian pizza, which had a mix of mozzarella and cheddar cheese with black olives, peppers, onions, and mushrooms. It was pretty much just a standard veggie pizza. The meat pizzas looked quite meaty with a lot less cheese on them, but I don’t eat meat so can’t really say much about the taste. The pizza itself was good, but not really one of my favorites in the area, just seemed like a standard pizza.

I really hesitated over the stars on this one. This is a great little restaurant, the pizza man was super friendly, and I left feeling like«KC needs more little places like this!». HOWEVER, the pizza? Not really my style(I should add, my favorite pizza is the Wheatstate hand tossed wheat crust veggie dream – why can’t they open one of these on the plaza? That would be awesome!). The crust was kind of reminiscent of what you get from Papa Murphy’s, and I don’t think mine was baked quite long enough — still pretty doughy and the cheese wasn’t too melted on top.(they might have been rushing because I was waiting for the pizza there, but still…) I’ll definitely be back to give them another try, but I don’t think I’d recommend them to a friend quite yet.

Finally a great pizza place! I just love that all the toppings are fresh. The crust is wonderful! Almost a cross between thin and hand-tossed. Not to thick not too thin. They have great homemade salad dressings! Yummy! I am making myself hungry! If you haven’t been… go!!!

I was finally able to make it to The Pizza Oven this week. I don’t generally make it over that way but had an errand and took the opportunity. I’m glad I did. The pizza was delicious. The crust was crisp and toppings fresh and plentiful. The service was friendly, accommodating, and attentive. I don’t know how to describe the pizza. It has been a while since the one time I had Tim’s Pizza in Independence, but maybe it was like that. The crust was almost a mixture of «cracker crust» similar to St. Louis style and a more traditional«hand tossed» type crust. I also got hints of Pizza Shoppe style crust, which could also probably be described as I did Pizza Oven’s. The sauce was tangy and delicious. As for the cheese, they use a mix of 80% mozzarella, 10% provolone, and 10% cheddar. I highly recommend giving the Pizza Oven a try.
