How have I lived in KCMO over 6 months and never had Minsky’s until now?! We ate here for Valentine’s Day and had the cheesy bread appetizer and Mediterranean pizza. Cheesy bread was well-priced and a good size portion, but nothing special. The Mediterranean pizza was lamb though? So good!!! Thick layer of cheese with the meet tucked in to the cheese; nothing slides off. Crust is really a stand-out; it’s thick enough, but not doughy and/or undercooked. We got a medium for two of us and still took 2 – 3 pieces home. My boyfriend does not drink alcohol, but really likes Minsky’s for their craft sodas, particularly the birch beer. I had a Sprecher orange creamsicle soda. One thing I really like about Minsky’s, is that it’s always full of people from all walks of life– there’s just as many young couples as there are families, which to me, is a positive. We also had a super bubbly young lady serving us and she was so pleasant!

Definitely one of my favorite pizza places. Only get to eat here when I travel to KC unfortunately. I love the combo pizza. The cheese on top of the pizza make it taste different and better to me. I eat pizza a lot of different places all over and this would rank in my top 10. The toasted ravioli is a really good start to a meal as well.

(This review will be based on their pizza) I’ve lost sleep deciding how many stars I should’ve given Minsky’s(ok, not really, just me drinking coffee before bedtime). Two particular things Minsky’s does is: 1) tuck their toppings underneath their cheese layer…2) this generous and überrrrrrrrrrr thick, chewy mozzarella layer. I will admit, this sounds great; who doesn’t want an extra thick mozzarella layer on their pizza? But in reality, it’s not really cool when you only take one bite of your pizza and the whole top layer simultaneously slides down your throat(I’m probably the only minority here that finds this inconvenient). If I could eat the top layers of each of their slices, I’d be happy. I do like lasagna. In fact, if Minsky’s made lasagna I’d buy it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, lasagna is not what I came to Minsky’s for. Their thick mozzarella layer is pretty consistent with their pizza(which is good and bad, I suppose). I just wish there was some magical way that they could make the top layer stay on… Customer service is good though; it is interesting that they always seem to place my dad and I in the same spot. Well, in the meantime I’ll be scouting for more pizza places.

Ate here with my daughter, after an appointment at children’s hospital. Needed a gluten free meal. We each got a mini pizza and shared a salad. The salad was nothing to write home about, but the pizza was delish, although slightly overdone. I didn’t give a 5 because waitress wasn’t very attentive. I asked about a drink special of the day, and she never got back to me. Missed a sale there. We also had an annoying gnat flying around our table. Noticed the lady next to us experiencing the same problem. So — I might try them again, as pizza was good, but would ask to be seated in a different part of building, away from the Windows.

Minsky’s cheesesteak was a pleasant surprise for me. I met with some friends for dinner at this Minsky’s location. I was in the mood for a cheesesteak, and thought I would try theirs out. I was expecting an average KC cheesesteak, but got much more than that. I actually received a very respectable cheesesteak that was the most authentic Philly cheesesteak I’ve had in KC so far. I found out from the waitress that the managers are from Philly — pretty cool! Congrats Minsky’s, you beat out Grinders and every other KC cheesesteak I’ve had so far. I hope all your other locations are just as good!

Minsky’s Pizza seems to fall into the love or hate category, doesn’t it? Well I can safely say I’m on #TeamMinskys from multiple good experiences over the years, particularly at this 50th Main location. Their ingredients are choice; thick, real mozzarella, pepperonis buried underneath the cheese to it’s tucked in and not sliding off, and a medium thickness crust that’s neither too thick nor thin. I think what really seals it for me is their tomato sauce, which is a dark red, hearty sauce that they’re always liberal with. I’ve had people literally laugh when I say Minsky’s is a top three pizza in town and I just don’t get the hate for it! It’s damn good, although I do hear that it can be inconsistent from time to time. Maybe some people don’t like that it’s a handful of bucks more than generic chain pizza, but… One is delicious, one is inedible. I’ll spend the extra couple bucks! It depends where you get sat in this location, because there are some good seats and this«joynt» as the sign says has a good pizza shop feel to it. There are also some seats closer to the bar that are less than ideal in my opinion. Since I live so close, it’s mainly take out from here for me. In a town with a wide range of pizza, they fill a nice niche and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
