Steve and NYWBBQ are the best! My fiancé and I wanted Kansas City BBQ for our wedding reception and we thought it would be extra special if the smoker was on site, to really get everyone’s mouths watering with the incredible BBQ smells. After speaking to many other KCBBQ caterers and restaurants who were unwilling to make the on-site smoker happen, I almost gave up on my wedding dream. But, then I called NYWBBQ. Steve not only told me it would be no problem to serve the meal right off his smoker, the menu options were delicious and the prices were incredibly reasonable. The final result was mouthwatering BBQ and sides that all the guests(and my fiancé and I) raved about all night. Plus Steve and his team are the nicest, most easy-going and accommodating people to work with. Talk about low stress! I highly recommend hiring NYWBBQ for any event! Your guests will be wowed and you will be able to relax and enjoy.

Can not believe the bad reviews, I have eaten there at least ten times and have NEVER been disappointed. I am a former competitor in BBQ contests and consider myself a BBQ snob, and this is competition quality. Beef brisket is a 10+, pulled pork good, chicken moist, burnt ends melt in your mouth. Sides are limited but ok. It isn’t in a fancy location, but clean.

So the owner of this place shared my review on Facebook with some passive-aggressive comments. On his profile he shared a ton of racist propaganda — needless to say: I’m never coming back to this place. If you like your product, good for you. I’ve had BBQ from all over KC and the nation and LC’s is probably my favorite, I’m no high class snob when it comes to good BBQ, this place just doesn’t have it and has folks that get personally offended if you refuse to appreciate a bite full of gristle and fat. ******UPDATE****** So the owner of this place shared my review on Facebook with some passive-aggressive comments. The staff was friendly and pleasant, however, the ribs were dry and tasted like they were old. The side items were decent. I might give it another shot… I was hoping for better food… maybe it was a bad day for your crew. The owner was a Gent. we talked over the phone and he’s going to make things right… that’s honorable!

Friday evening at 6:30pm. Only people in there. That should have said something right there. Had the burnt ends. Well let’s say beef jerky. Way over done. Not to mention all the fat left on there. If they want to make it in KC. They really need to step their game up like the name of the place.

I’m sorry to say this was probably the worst BBQ I’ve had. The meat was extremely dry, sauce didn’t help either. The jalapeño cheesy corn was terrible it was corn with a little bit of cheese. The baked beans were equally as bad. I wish there was something good I could write about this place, but I have nothing. In a city full of BBQ I could think of so many others to go to.

Excellent food and great prices are reason enough to check this place out, but the friendly, personal service puts it over the top. Try the burnt tips sandwich and the bacon-wrapped meatballs!

What a find, a small, local BBQ joint out in a suburb of the greater metropolitan area. Contrary to their name — the implication being they ain’t winning this year, or ever for that matter — they make some tasty meats. Easily the best part of this place. The rib tips were melt in your mouth pieces of sexy, savoury ‘Kevin’ Bacon, circa Dirty Dancing. Nowadays that dude looks like a corpse. He could always find work on the set of the walking dead. Back to it, the sauce flavor profile also impressed. Though, one could tell that their base sauce appeared only slight tweaked in each of these. The sides were«so-so», that hurts the rating. Nuke it, I guess… Service was great, super friendly. Its too bad the microwaveble genius of Hawg Fritz is down the street. People tend to eat what is advertised. Which most of the time is, as chef Ramsey says it, «rubbish.» Sincerely, we actually didn’t see any see shops, disappointing… Maybe?

This place is very close to work, but I never went because they only seemed to be open on certain days for limited hours. Well they now have regular hours and I stopped twice last week and I will become a regular from what I experienced. First time I had a rib tip sandwich and a side of cheesey potatoes for $ 6.50. Next time a had the bbq sundae, 2 meats layered between slaw and beans with a bacon wrapped meatball and pickle for $ 7.50. Made 2 meals for me. Wow! All 3 of the meats I had were tender, and smoked well. All the sides were above average and price was awesome. Two coworkers are now convinced that the sundae is heavenly also, and we all will be coming back. Friendly and clean also.

Awesome Bbq in the northland! Ordered the«First Runner Up» to split with grandma– came with two meats and two sides, plenty to share. The jalapeño cheesy corn is delicious! Spicy Bbq sauce not as spicy as I would prefer though. Will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.

The 4 and a half star ratings for this place are bogus, falsified horseshit, this place sucks, I ate here twice, the food is way overpriced for the small amount you get, and its nothing to brag to your friends about, if you want to brag to your friends, tell them about Smokehouse, Smoking Guns in NKC, they are real BBQ, just sit outside this place and watch for yourself, about 2 to 3 cars pull up for the entire day, so don’t let the false 4 and a half stars fool you, they suck and for anybody to make them think its good is a joke.

Had a flight delay so Unilocal helped me find this gem. Tiny little joins with no beers so owner directly me to head next door to BYOB. Amazing half slab if St Louis with 2 sides. $ 15. A steal. Friendly and clean as well.

Very good food! Don’t even need sauce but they have it if you want it! Cheesy potatoes and jalapeño corn is good as well. Staff is friendly and will do whatever it takes to ensure you’re satisfied. Don’t forget the bacon wrapped meatballs!

Better than Smoke n Guns. I’m beginning to see why Texans don’t cotton to KCBBQ. In Texas pre-loading the meat with sauce means you’re hiding something. My burnt end sandwich from Next Year’s Winner was piled high with well done meat, covered in a thick, sweet sauce and it didn’t break the bank. I added some of the«hot» sauce from the squirt jar on the table, hoping for a little zing, and that’s what i got, a little zing. I liked the sandwich but am beginning to think the KCBBQ in general is too sweet for me. Sweet sauce is fine on baby back ribs, but, for a sandwich or a few slabs on a plate i prefer what the folks in Lexington NC or Luling TX do with a Q rig and a pig(NC) or a cow(TX).

This place is as good as BBQ gets! Hard for me to believe a few reviews were bad, but seems the bulk of reviews agree with me! Love this place!!!

Ordered the ribs, a helping of burnt tips, jalepeño corn, and BBQ beans. I think I am having a religious experience! Very tasty. I definitely recommend this place. It was really easy to get to from the airport area hotels, about a 10 min drive. I liked the meat with or without the sauce. The meat is awesome. Wish I could order a Thanksgiving smoked turkey and arrange warm shipment to my home 1000 miles away!

Oklahoma Joe’s ain’t got nothin’ on NYW! For the most part, I compartmentalize my barbecue joints. One house does great ribs, another will do chicken well, but not the ribs, another will do great brisket, but the other offerings aren’t so great. Get my drift? NYW does it ALL so well, you’ll be dreaming of their food long after you leave their joint. Pulled pork? Incredible. Burnt ends? Fantastic, scrumptious. Ribs? Amazing. Sausage? Delicious. Brisket? Tender, juicy, falls apart. Chicken? Awesome. Turkey? You will come back for more! Potato salad, beans, cole slaw, fries, NYW does it all and for my money, it’s the best house in town!

Delicious and priced very well. We got the sampler with cheesy potatoes, jalapeño cheesy corn, and bbq beans and we liked them all! We will definitely be back!

We are from Austin, TX and were looking for the great Kansas City BBQ… well, we found it! Great portions and the burnt ends are to die for. The beef ribs literally melted off the bone and cannot eat any more due to portion size. The cheesy potatoes and the baked beans were amazing sides! Thanks for an amazing meal!!!

Came in around 4:30 on a Friday afternoon. We had skipped lunch on our drive to KC so we were looking for some good belly filling food and boy, did we find it! We split a large sampler platter, as well as sides of beans and potatoes. The cheesy potatoes are awesome, a great flavor with the just melted but still sticky cheese. The beans are fully of meat and pretty thick with a good balance of sweet and savory. A run down of the meats: grilled hot wings: moist, fall off the bone and a mild heat, some of my favorite wings ever bacon wrapped meatballs: as good as you think they sound ham: I’m not a big ham person, but really enjoyed the smokiness of the meat turkey: awesome! I hope my dad’s is this good next month burnt ends: not bbq experts so not sure how these are supposed to be, but these were moist, good flavor, not overly charred ribs: not quite fall off the bone, but good flavor and very enjoyable pulled pork: quite good, great flavor brisket: looked dry but when actually eaten it was pretty moist and a good flavor sausage: ok, kind of an odd texture, least favorite of the plate The sauces were all good, sweet my fav followed by spicy with sassy rounding out the three. All had some level of heat. I found myself not using a lot of the sauce because the meat didn’t need it! I“m usually a big saucer so this was a change for me. Service was great, very attentive and polite(we also were the only ones there, random time) Prices were great! We got a lot of food for around 25 bucks. Fed two people with leftovers for probably two more meals. Highly recommend and will return if in the area again!

We have eaten here twice now.. .the first time, it was so damn good I thought it might have been a fluke — how come no one talks about this place? So, we went back and there is no need to wait for the«third times a charm» — the verdict is in: Mighty good BBQ! First time we had the beef brisket and the Italian sausage. The gal behind the counter was mighty nice and knew her stuff. She brought us small samples of nearly everything and it was all to the good. Cindy’s sausage sandwich was served with the top bun off to the side so you could see the nice way the sausage slices were stacked up My brisket slices were piled high. Everything was top notch.. .good prices, nice serving sizes and good to eat. The buns were fresh and sort of a butter roll kind of thing with sesame seeds. They have three sauces: sweet, sassy and the other one.. .spicy I think. The sweet was alright but I preferred the sassy. The next trip we had the smoked turkey and burnt ends. We will probably purchase our Thanksgiving turkey here.. .so moist, nice smokey flavor. Mmmmm good. Burnt ends were very good as well. As noted, the portions for everything were nicely sized. My only complaint is that I am a french fry guy and they do not have fries. Lays potato chips in one flavor. The slaw was fine, I don’t eat beans so I can’t comment on those. My advice to the owners would be to look into creating their own fresh potato chips that would complement the meat or sauce. Lays are so common, so bland that they do nothing for the meal. As for the«décor» — well, that is bare bones. The big rear projection tv circa 1986 dominates the space. Thankfully it has never been on while we were there and we were able to bask in the glow of the Coca~Cola sign above the fountain drink machine.. . Going to try the bacon wrapped meat balls next time I think.. .
