I wasn’t very impressed with the food here. It was ok to good. I ordered the beef burnt tip and short rib platter. Both meats were average. The beans were good, I will give them that, but very saucy. Overall I prefer Texas BBQ to KCBBQ. Would I recommend this place, yes… gotta try it and form your own opinion. Will I be back? No, I like trying new places each city I visit. Service was good, but a «thank you» would have been nice when handing me the check.

I moved away from KC15 years ago. When I come home this is my «go to» BBQ. All of the meats are tasty and my favorite BBQ sauce hands down.

I had the Pork Spare Rib Platter with mac & cheese and onion rings. The sides were very tasty but the ribs were eh.

This is my favorite bbq. Period. I usually get the smokehouse special. The smokehouse bbq sauce is soooo good. And the French fries… oh my gosh. Everything is so good you’ll go into a food coma. I like eating in, but I also order food to go. At one point I felt like I got more food when I ordered to go than when I ate in. But maybe it was a one time thing. I’ll say this: I’m picky about Cole slaw and the slaw here is a thing of beauty. So delicious! Baked beans are amazing too! There isn’t much I can say that can convey the awesomeness of smokehouse bbq. You’ll smell it. You’ll try it. You’ll be hooked. The end.

Delicious meal. Love the Crispy burnt end sandwich. The hickory pit beans are the a perfect blend of smoke and slightly sweet. We hosted our volleyball team farewell dinner and the staff was fantastic. With 43 in our group we were served in a timely, efficient and organized manner. The staff met all requests and still were beyond helpful and friendly. We will be back and I highly recommend this restaurant for great BBQ and beans!

Solid BBQ, just don’t see the value here compared to other places that are better. $ 11 for ring of fire and a handful of fries doesn’t add up to me especially when the 2 meats are turkey and sausage. Sandwich was really good, service was decent but there are many equals and better that offer better value.

I usually end up here every few months when having lunch with my boss, I could think of many other BBQ places I would prefer, but for convenient location near home and work it fits the bill. There is nothing that I do not like here; it’s clean, efficient staff, good sauce, meat is great… but still it doesn’t have that WOW factor that would propel me to visit more often or bring friends here. Today I had a Ring of Fire sandwich — ham and beef, jalapeño’s, white cheese, and onion straws on a bun that deteriorated immediately because of the abundance of sauce. Very tasty! My co-workers had the Crispy sandwich and Ribs. Everybody had good words but all agreed with me that it doesn’t enter their top 5 or even top 10 in my book. if this place was in Sedalia or St. Joe it would probably be the best in town, KC is a rough city to make your mark.

Haven’t been here in years but gave it a try today! Sliced sausage, sliced ham were delicious! The sliced brisket came right out of the refrigerator! Even the sauce could not hide the stale taste. Hostess and our waiter were great! They are what brought this review up to 3 stars! I guess we’ll wait another 2 years before the next visit!

As soon as I walked in, my first thought was«This is too clean to be any good.» Seriously bbq places need to be slightly dirty. Our meat didn’t have much flavor but the fries were great. I tried the legendary cheesy corn and it was, well, basically a melted velveeta-like product with corn mixed in. I’m not sure how that’s supposed to be good but whatev. We got here early for lunch when the place was pretty empty and the food was super slow to arrive(which is exactly what you want when your party includes several young kids). All in all, I was not impressed and do not recommend.

Seated immediately on a noon hour on Sunday. Greeted by a friendly waiter. Ordered quickly. Good took about 25 minutes to reach our table which seems odd when everything is smoked in advance plus it wasn’t THAT busy. Good was good but we have had better in this area. Worth a try especially if you like wet BBQ. Clean restaurant and noise level was medium.

Hubby & I went in for a late dinner. Big mistake! We ordered potato skins for an appetizer & they were terrible, the potato part was actually dark brown, instead of white & the potato skin was black… It was so dry I actually starting coughing. We ordered Chefs Sampler, the chicken was dry, the ribs were fatty & the burnt ends were actually crunchy I’m fan of burnt ends but these were too burnt & not good at all. The beans were good amazingly enough. And last but not least the cole slaw was a disaster.

The best baked beans in the metro. Also grrrrreat burnt ends. Usually order take out for large groups, but the dining area looks nice, and the parking lot during dinner time speaks to a good dine in experience.

Week 4 in «The KCBBQ Tour!» The sauce here is a bit more on the spicy side. The sandwich as a whole was fantastic with great color, and flavor, on a toasted bun. The fries were almost perfect on crispiness. They had little salt but that worked in favor. The fries got a bit to zesty when dipped into ranch. A great place scoring an 86%, just on the pricy side.

Good BBQ the way KC intends it to be… Maybe. This is not a «frilly» restaurant(See my Jack Stack’s review for the BBQBOMB!), but it will get the job done if you have to have BBQ and your stuck in Gladstone. I have been a couple of times, and had the sliced brisket and ribs. Both were good portion sizes and rather inexpensive(You can get in/out for lunch for under $ 12.00). Service is usually my issue(It’s not that they’re rude, they’re just not interested in your experience… If I’m misreading the level of service, which typically I’m not, I apologize!) The last time we(table of 4) had a waitress that took 5+ minutes to come over, took our order in one swoop, then checked on us again while dropping off the bill. What?!? In addition to the service, this place has the WORST Men’s room ever(i.e., bathroom). You know the type… One where no matter how much soap you use your hands still feel dirty afterwards. It’s super small, dirty, and smells like a bakery(just kidding!) Bottom line… Was I satisfied: Sure(Food gets a Yes /Service gets a No) Will I return: No(There’s too many BBQ joints in KC, and I already suffered through 2 lunches here) Will I tell friends/colleagues to Go Here: No, I can’t honestly brag about the place…

This is good food for this style of barbecue, which is, admittedly, not my personal favorite. I had the two meat lunch sampler, with pulled pork and spare ribs. The pulled pork was juicy and lightly sauced, and tasted faintly of pineapple, so they must brush some juice on the shoulder. The hickory flavor became a bit overpowering for me… I much prefer pecan or fruit wood for smoking, which lend a subtler note; hickory smoke can bum me out when it’s too heavy. The ribs were good… tender, meaty and flavorful, with that typical KC sauce, tomatoey and tangy. I had baked beans and slaw as sides, and have nothing to complain about there either. I like the caraway seeds in the creamy slaw. All in all, pretty good.

This was much much better than Fiorello’s Jack Stack last night. Not even close. Juicy delicious pulled pork. Did I detect pineapple? The sauce is KC classic and good. Not my personal favorite sauce but it went well. The pork ribs were good too. Mostly tender. The smoke level was good throughout much heavier, surprisingly on the pulled pork. I really like the beans. A little sweet but not overboard and pleasantly tangy. I really don’t like the slaw but it’s just a personal preference most likely. Good. Torn between 3 and 4 stars. You should try it. I might come back.

I love me some good BBQ and smokehouse knows how to do it right! The pulled pork is great and the beef burnt ends are to die for! The sauce is great — sweet(but not too sweet), tangy and just enough! I absolutely love their cole slaw, too! There were 4 of us in the party and the waitress had a number of tables, but we never went wanting for anything. Everyone loved their meals and it was so good there weren’t any leftovers to take home. We will definitely be back!
