Motel 6

Place is pretty sketchy. Toilets were clogged and there was piss all over the walls. It’s just an overall not good place. The lady at the front desk was nice. Even though it’s really close to Worlds of Fun I would probably not come back here, ever.

I made the reservation online, as I was traveling cross country with my two children and dog. I needed a place that was accepting of pets and was easily accessible to my vehicle and walking my dog, so your hotel had everything I was looking for. We finally arrived at the hotel after being in the car for over 13 hours. My children and I were exhausted and ready to get out of the car.
When I walked in to check in the woman at the front desk was on a call with what seemed to be a potential customer. She was very rude on the phone to the person and continually rolled her eyes and had attitude while talking to the person. After she was done on the phone, I explained I had a reservation and was ready to check in. After being asked if I wanted a smoking or non-​smoking room and if I wanted to be on the first or second floor I was given room keys. (I requested a non-​smoking room on the first floor.)
Upon entering the hotel room, it was not at all as I expected it to be. We had 2 double beds, both of which had cigarette burns in them. Again, I was supposed to be in a non-​smoking room so I called the front desk and explained the situation. The lady from the front desk came down and brought new sheets and a comforter which were left for me to strip and remake the bed (she also noted she should have checked them before she brought them to me but did not). Not that this is a big deal, but when I purchase a room for the night at a hotel after traveling for so long, this is NOT something that I should have been responsible for. I was told to leave the old bedding on the floor and she would make note that there were extra sheets in the room.
Next, I went to take a shower and to my disgust, the shower had mold in the corner and the shower curtain was completely full of mold which you could clearly see and smell. At this point it was after 9 and all I wanted to do was get some sleep. I took a quick shower and when I went to get out I noticed the towels all had black spots on them. I couldn’t find a single towel in the room that actually looked clean. I used the cleanest looking towel to dry off.
Once I was ready to go to bed, I still had to strip the bed of the burn holed sheets. I put on the new set of sheets and surprisingly they were fine. Once I put the comforter on, I saw more burn holes, just not as many and not as big. At this point I was beyond frustrated, exhausted and just wanted to sleep. If I wasn’t so tired and didn’t have sleeping kids, I would have left and gone to a new hotel.
In the morning, I went to the front desk around 0630 to check out. When I walked into the front lobby, the desk clerk was clearly sleeping at the desk; he had his head down and didn’t hear me when I walked in. Finally, after about a minute, I tossed my keys loudly on the desk and said excuse me, which gained his attention. I told him I was checking out of room 128 and needed a copy of my receipt. He looked in the computer and said «Well that room is vacant so it can’t be your room.» I explained it was the room I was given and showed him my keys to the room which clearly had 128 written on it. He asked if it could have been booked under another name and I explained no, that the name I made the reservation under was the same name on my credit card and my ID they checked when I checked in. He looked under my name and again couldn’t find anything. I explained to him that I even called the front desk the night I checked in to complain about the bed. Upon further looking he was able to see that I had checked in and printed me a receipt. He told me that when I had checked in the night before my card was ran, but they never put in the computer that I was occupying a room. I have many problems with this but my main concern is that they could have given that room to another guest, with another set of keys and someone could have walked into that room while my children and I were sleeping. The man working didn’t seem to care nor did he ask how my stay was.

After driving for 13 hours straight and until 3 am, I was sooo looking forward to jumping into bed and taking a shower beforehand. But as I opened the door to our room, I was sorely disappointed by the decaying cigarette smoke that hit my face, in a non-​smoking room and one king size bed, that was original supposed to be a two bed room. I made reservations through
and upon arrival, the front desk lady had some difficulties checking me in right away. Anywho, I was shocked to see how modern the inside of the room was but the smell of the smoke and dampness the room had, I was immediately turned off and wished I did not make reservations or just slept in the car. Right away, I had the hubs check for bed bugs on the mattress and noticed a small bug that was dead. Hopefully it wasn’t bed bugs, but I guess I’ll know in a couple days!
The room barely came with toiletries and lacked in towels. All they had in the room was an ice bucket and a couple small bars of soap. No hair dryer, complimentary shampoo/​conditioner, no coffee maker, extra pillows, tissues, toilet paper, or even welcome guides. I guess that’s what you get though for the price you pay. I made reservations for three people and a small dog, through
for a total of $~65…not bad, considering they charge $~55 per person if you were to walk in. And the pet was free of charge. Another thing I felt was odd was the room had hard flooring and completely filthy. I ended up wearing my flip flops the whole time, to prevent my feet from becoming covered in dirt.
The room just felt and appeared dirty, despite the modern look that I decided to just go to bed and take a shower in the morning. The one good thing about the room was the water pressure from the shower head.
I would highly recommend going someplace else of you want to have somewhat of a comfortable nights sleep.
