I have not gone in, but my roomie goes in to get the torillas sometimes. They are close to the butcher we go to so sometimes it’s just easier to go here. However, even though made fresh we have gotten them better from other mexican bakeries in this area.

So my team was interested to try Laura’s out. We called twice this week to make sure they were open for lunch. Both times our questions were greeted with«no speak English» and a click. I do speak enough Spanish to get along, so I was upset that I wasn’t given the chance to make an attempt at communicating before being hung up on. Obviously they don’t prefer to cater to clientele with English as our primary language.

Holy smokes. What a friggin TORTA. The tortas here are gigantic. I mean they make an H2 Hummer look like a Smart For Two. I think the best part of it all is the avocado’s they use. They are perfectly ripe and buttery in texture. This place does not know how to serve bad toppings. I recommend going with pork. The meat is actually on the lean side, however extremely juicy. The only con is that the bread that holds this thing together is always on the losing end of the battle. At the same time, It is the best device to hold all of this goodness. I recommend splitting it and sharing as opposed to trying to take it head on. For drinks, their horchata is super super über delicious. I’ve yet to go here and have a watered down horchata.

Mexican sweet bread? Check. And tasty. You walk in and you can smell all the tasty treats in the ovens. They also do a great job at decorating their bread. It looks scrumptious! But their definite specialty is their cakes, No, not your regular cakes(chocolate, vanilla, etc.) but their fruit-filled cakes. Middle fresh fruit fillings and some have nuts like pecans or coconut or a combination of all. The outside of their cakes are garnished beautifully with colorful fruits, then lightly glazed to make them look shiny and even that more appealing, I ask for a Laura’s cake every birthday! I just love them.
