Rude rude rude service. So rude infact that I almost left without purchasing anything. This place needs to teach its staff about attitude, Either that or chaperone them. Donuts were excellent as always.

I stumbled upon this place by driving past and there was literally a line out the door. After the first time I came and sat in line for about 10 minutes which wasn’t that bad considering it was out the door, I learned to come early. Around six 630 there seems to be much less people around. The staff are very very friendly in particular Brian. I did not strain on my trip I got a chocolate filled long John and a chocolate sprinkle doughnut and a medium coffee. I cannot tell you the heaven that I experience when I finally ate my donut. My jeans hate me but my belly loves me. This place is absolutely amazing and well Kansas City may be known for their barbecue and steaks for me I will always know it for its donuts.

Best donuts in town, imo. My absolute favorite donut is their white cake, white icing with sprinkles. Takes me back to my childhood every time! tip: Go right before they close and you’ll get a few donuts free!

Apparently their hours of operation have changed. The door says 5:30am-2pm. It’s 5:45 now and it’s still not open. I was the first person in the parking lot and I counted at least 9 cars drive parking lot and leave. Sucks for business.

Cool and what a selection. Better get there early or they may be out of your favorite pastry.

For those of you who rate this Lamars with anymore then 1 star, is because you are to young or to new to K.C. to remember the original Lamars. I have been eating Lamars as long as i can remember, wanted to share my experience with my grand kids. The ride over i was like«Oh you have no clue to what a good donut is until you can compare them to Lamars.» needless to say i was eating crow, not donuts… Q.T. is 10 times better… Lamars is no longer a great K.C. experience. buyers beware.

Best donuts I’ve ever had. The people there are great and basically every kind of donut is delicious. Not too expensive either!

Lamar’s Donuts are as good as Donuts can get in my opinion! I really don’t know if it was the fact that i went there post-workout and extremely hungry, or my expectations were lower, but this place blew my mind with the donuts i put in my mouth. I went in planning on getting two, I left with half a dozen for myself(not really surprising if you know me when i walk into bakeries). Im the type of guy that has to try everything that looks/sounds good and thats what i did here. I ordered some classic cake donuts, specifically, the apple spice, red velvet with cream cheese frosting, devils food cake, and the m&m crumble cake donut. All had such unique flavor, so sweet and soft and moist and melt in your mouth good! Aside from the assorted cake donuts, I ordered the Chocolate fluff filled Lamar Bar which blew me away! So chocolatey and so delicious. I love sweets and this is some sweet donut action at Lamar’s. And to top off the morning, I had a buttermilk bar! You can always tell a good donut shop either by their buttermilk bar or their fritter. This may have been the best buttermilk bar i have ever tasted to say the least. Go to Lamars, order your fill of donuts, don’t forget milk. It will be an experience you will never forget.

This location is MUCH friendlier than the Liberty location. When you enter the Liberty store, they push away from the counter, sigh, and say«box or bag?». This location has the friendliest employees – they actually ask how you are and what you ‘re looking for. I MUCH prefer this location!!! They’ve even offered to add sprinkles to a plain iced one for my 8 year old and 7 year old niece to make them happy. I will drive 20 extra minutes for that service. Thank you!!!

Holy goodness, those are some good donuts! Easter Sunday morning I Unilocaled some donut shops near my hotel in KC and headed over to LaMar’s hoping it would be open despite it being a holiday. The man working the register, quite possibly the man~ the myth~ the legend himself LaMar, was super duper nice and friendly. I got compliments galore plus he knocked 60 cents off my total for no other reason than he was a happy, cheery fellow looking to give this Chicagoan a good start to her morning! The donuts… the donuts! I tried a couple cake donuts and the cake itself was magical. So soft it practically melted in my mouth. Not to sell their frosting short at all because it was also delicious but… the cake on those donuts! Eek gads! I ordered two candy coated chocolate frosted donuts and then one chocolate cake glazed donut. All were equally amazing. They had some cool flavors like Oreo, M&M and a few other candy coated little guys. I’m pretty sure most people come for their super sized, mega huge long johns. Those looked real appetizing!

I was running late to work so figured I would distract the late arrival with a box of donuts. My drive to work is pretty bleak for donut stops. The Unilocal app led me close to this one, but I am guessing they moved from the other location around the block. There is a sign for the donut shop on the sign with the Costco and Lowes, but if you turn into their lot, you will never find the donut shoop. Although on the same land, it is in a little strip mall facing the street. Really kind of confusing and joining them together with an access road or parking would be a smart move. Once I finally found the store I was happy with the selection. It has been a while since I bought a dozen donuts and there was a bit of sticker shock with the prices. A dozen donuts, one cream filled long john, and a milk shot a twenty dollar bill. Lamar’s donuts are good. Always fresh and sometimes still warm. I like that they have a cream filled long john which can be hard to find. T The employees are just there, not friendly, not mean, not helpful, just there to fill your order.

I was excited to check out LaMar’s Donuts since they had such high reviews on Unilocal. We came in around 9am on a Friday, and they still had a large variety of donuts available. I tried asking which donuts were the most popular, but the guy ended up listing most of the donuts, so I just went with: –Bavarian Cream Lamar’s Bar($ 1.95, ): Ok, but the chocolate frosting was really sweet. They don’t skimp on the Bavarian cream though, and that was actually good. Although this is a good deal, I probably wouldn’t get this again. –Raspberry Filled Bismarck($ 1.95, ): Not that great– the powder on the outside gets everywhere when you bite into it, and there was too much filling for me. However, I’m not a big fan of raspberry jam, so jam lovers will probably love this donut. This is a skip for me! Although I didn’t enjoy the Bismarck, and thought the Lamar’s Bar was too sweet, they have so many different kinds of donuts that I’m sure there is something here I would like. I was very intrigued by the Red Velvet Donut, so will definitely order that if I’m ever back in Kansas City/LaMar’s again. They have their own parking lot, but it’s very small; however, there is some street parking available.

There was once a time in my life when I thought that I hated doughnuts. My experience had taught me that doughnuts were flavorless lumps of sugar, and it took a great deal of arm-twisting from a close friend before I would give LaMar’s a shot. Everything changed. These doughnuts are perfectly fluffy, sweet and flavorful, and altogether delicious. The Main St location is so conveniently located, I can easily swing by. Whenever morale needs a boost at school or work, I know that a dozen doughnuts will do the trick. I’m so glad I gave these a chance!

I thought I was a Krispy Kreme fan, but I was so wrong!!! LaMars is truly the best. Their original raised, Glazed donut is the tastiest 220 calorie treat I’ve ever eaten. I love to heat mine in the microwave for 8 seconds(no more than that). A dozen of these will make all your coworkers happy(well, assuming you only have 11 coworkers).

Love this place when I have a craving for a donut. I especially love the any donut with nuts on it. today a little disappointed(ok i arrived at before noon on a Sunday) and only found one donut with peanuts on it left. and no non filled long johns. the guy at the counter was understanding and substituted the non filled long johns with two round donuts. Cool. This place is great. Perfect on a lazy Sunday afternoon craving something decadent.

My Krispy Kreme loving steak ended the second I sunk of teeth into a gooey, delectable raspberry filled doughnut from LaMar’s. The world of sugary treats that I thought I understood came crashing down before me. I love LaMar’s! My room mate and I decided to have a doughnut picnic at Loose Park one afternoon and the nice girl gave us 4 doughnuts for the price of 2. Free doughnuts?! Yes please. There were so many options and all the doughnuts were so fluffy and creative. Krispy Kreme is a doughnut of the past. LaMar’s has my heart now.

Woohoo, as good as it gets… for doughnuts. LaMar’s is a KC institution and all locations serve up fried doughy goodness. Regret is inevitable after eating one of these bad boys, but it’s worth it. LaMar’s is the best doughnut in town easily torching that overglazed stuff they serve over by the«hot light.» This location along Main St. stays busy in the morning. I occasionally stop here on Fridays before work to bring in a couple dozen doughnuts to the folks I work with. LaMar’s doughnuts score you major bonus points with colleagues. So much so, in fact, I often bring doughnuts in before I have to make a tough announcement or decision with employees. Bring these rings of love into the office, send out an all staff email, watch your co-workers line up to grab a red velvet temptation, and then sit back and reap the colleague high fives all morning long. They aren’t good for you. They have no nutritional value. They are round with a hole in the middle. They are delicious.

Friendly service. Tastey donuts. And it’s hella close to my house. *no stalkers please* So far have had the long john, strawberry filled frit, regular, twist, cake donuts. All good. But I’m a sucker for something filled donuts… So I liked me the long john. Even after watching Van Wilder I still went back for more! Saturdays go like this… Wake up. Lamars. Home Depot.

Great donuts, great service. These aren’t good for you, but they sure are good. Now I understand why there’s no Krispy Kreme in KCMO — the local competition is too good.
