I went to this store to show my niece a certain carrier and if it worked buy it for her while I was visiting. The store was empty and i asked if someone could show her how to use it only to be told they charge a $ 15 fee to try it on and then if you buy it the fee will go to the purchase. Are you kidding me a fee to sell a product. I am from California at one time I owned 3, 5000 sq feet baby stores I know the manufactures give the stores the samples to try on for free and in my opinion it is customer service to show how any item your are selling works and without a charge. We also shopped at Lauren Alexandra they couldn’t have been nicer. We tried on a lot of stuff for free and guess what I ended up spending almost $ 500.00 because the customer service was better, the store had better displays and items, and overall the fact there was no charge or“fitting” fee for anything we were buying! I hope anyone who shops at Itsy Bitsy Bums will protest this so called fitting fee and realize it is just poor customer service!

Time to let my hippy side shine and talk about cloth diapers. I won’t get into the pros and cons of cloth diapers, that’s not the purpose of reviewing Itsy Bitsy Bums — this is all about the business here. First, the world of cloth diapers can be extremely overwhelming. There seems to be a limitless combination of diaper types and things to stuff in them. Toss in different brands, sizes, fastenings, etc., and it’s enough to make your head spin. Thankfully, the staff at Itsy Bitsy Bums takes the time to walk you through the store and explain all of the options. It also helps that most(if not all) of the employees seem to have used the products on their own children. Second, the store gives you the option to try before you buy. For newborns, you can rent out cloth diapers for the first three months. This is amazing since spending the money on newborn size diapers is pointless since they have limited life. Even better, you get store credit for a sizeable portion of the rental amount to use towards diapers when you’re ready to buy. Or, if you decide cloth diapers aren’t for you they will give you cash back instead(albeit, a smaller amount). Third, free shipping. Rentals and purchases get sent to you for free. So, no need to trek on down to the store when trying to deal with figuring out how a tiny human works. I haven’t found another store like this in KC and, honestly, I’m shocked there aren’t more that caters to this growing demographic. Given the service and quality, I’d be hard pressed to go anywhere else for the diapering needs.

I really like Itsy Bitsy Bums. They’ve done a great job expanding their store over the last few years, and have made a national name for themselves largely via social media. I’ve been a cloth diapering mom for almost 3 years now. IBB has an incredible selection – I’ve never gone in there looking for something and not been able to find it(or a close-enough approximation of it). Now that my first son is a bit older, I love their selection of toys, feeding items, and skin care as well as the diapers, wool, and carriers for my new baby. I docked them from 5 to 4 stars because the service is a bit inconsistent. I’ve experienced great service on some visits(I go at least once a month or so) and terrible service on others. Even if their products are awesome, check-out is always a very slow process, and I’d love to see them find some ways to streamline it. There’s often only one cashier working, and they have to look up your account, put in the order, scan your card… it’s sort of a production. It’s not somewhere I’d go if I was in a rush – it’s a place for leisurely shopping when you don’t have anywhere to be. Also, their registry system is confusing for the buyer(password protected? Why?) and not always representative of what’s actually available in the store at the time. I do love their rewards program – 50 points(or $ 100 spent)-=a $ 5 reward certificate. They also offer great freebies and occasional discounts. This is my go-to place for a unique baby gift!

Wonderful place! They have a large selection and I got tons of help picking out and trying on carriers. Definitely worth the 30 minutes I drove to get there. Very happy with the service I received and there was even a couch for me to sit on while I nursed my little man.

Itsy Bitsy Bums is a little jewel of a baby store tucked away in Brookside. They have a huge selection of cloth diapers and accessories featuring brands like Grovia, Blueberry, BumGenius, and Econobums. Need help picking out diapers? Have questions about cloth and don’t know where to start? The staff here is amazing. Don’t be shy about asking questions because they are incredibly helpful. This store carries a lot besides the fluffy stuff. Laundry soap, wet bags, wool dryer balls… Yup, they have ‘em! Their other specialty seems to be baby carriers– think Zach Galifianakis in «The Hangover»(but cuter). If you want a non-stroller method of taking your kid around town you will find it here. Brands I noticed were Boba, Ergobaby, and Tula. One of the employees even offered me a hand adjusting my carrier when I came in with my kiddo. Now that’s really knowing their stuff. I could spend hours browsing here. There are lots of natural skin and bath products, baby toys, and even jewelry that teething babes can chew on. If you’ve got a little one at home or need to spoil a mom-to-be, stopping by Itsy Bitsy Bums is a must.
