Harold’s Drive Inn

Harold’s is more of a dive than a drive in… they don’t accept credit cards or checks… cash only… they open at 0600 and close at 1400… great place for breakfast and lunch… my breakfast recommendation is the biscuits and gravy with sauce crumbles on top… I could eat that every day and for breakfast, lunch, and dinner… the burgers are great also, but I’m a breakfast guy.

Have eaten here many times. While the food is good… I won’t be going back! The last time I went there, I took the lid off of the soda I had drank, to munch on the ice. In the bottom of the cup along with the ice was a cockroach. Needless to say, I will NEVER be able to eat there again!

A double cheese, thick crinkle cut fries and a med coke -$ 5.60. Great price, great burger cooked well enough to get crispy on the fringes yet not overcooked to taste the black pepper seasoning. The ladies behind the counter were friendly and actually singing John Fogerty’s Centerfield.
The neighborhood is sketchy and it sits next to a couple of run down motels so be observant of your surroundings but definitely go.

Fascinating and famous fast food joint, of the old style, dating back to the 1950s! Whenever I have needed to visit Kansas City MO over the past 12 years, I have always made it a point to stay in a hotel located within walking distance of Harold’s, so that I can walk there in the mornings to get my breakfast!
I can really only speak about their breakfast foods, and all I can tell you is that their breakfast menu, and breakfast foods, are GREAT!
Best of all, this is not a chain restaurant, but a genuine and authentic local business with lots of history, lots of local flavor, and tons of old-​America feel, style and ambiance! This place is a GEM! Did I say that already?
BTW, I have, on occasion, gotten one of their burgers for lunch or dinner, and they too are fine! However, my favorite foods on their menu are their breakfast selections.
In closing, all that I can tell you is that this place is a piece of history!

Great little spot! Nice staff, clean place, a little dated but it’s been open for 50+ years! The food is good. 2 double cheese, fries, & drinks for under $ 14. She even made a sample of their chocolate shake for me. No place to sit inside, but I don’t mind eating in my car. I’ll come back for another shake!

My first job out of high school was located a few blocks from Harold’s. What I remember is # It was the worst job I have ever had, #2 that I loved lunches from Harolds. One of the best burgers and rings in KC. Oh by the way… the terriable job was at Langley Optical. What a slave camp that was!

I have been a HAROLDS fan or follower or lover for over 15 years now, and I should have reviewed much earlier than now… I APOLOGIZE, I WAS LAZY, and INCONSIDERATE.
This is the quentisential burger joint. There may be others that are just as good, ie. Hi-​Boy (Independence), Big-​Burger (KC North), but none are any better.
Whats more they offer an awesome breakfast fare that goes anything from a simple bkfst sandwich to a full blown eggs with sausage gravy and biscuits.
Harolds gives you plenty of food for what is an awesome price. You can get double tenderloins, double fish sandwiches, double cheeseburgers, fries/​tots, etc.
The shakes/​malts are awesome too. A large puts other establishments to shame. it is easily 24plus ounces and is under 3.00 bucks. This includes a nice topping of… Peanut Butter, Banana, Strawberry, Vanilla, or Chocolate, oh and yes BLACK WALNUT YUM. Or do what I love the Peanut butter with banana and chocolate.
Do you like fried burgers and fries in large mouthwatering amounts??? If you say «YES» then you must go to Harolds.
Open at 6 for breakfast and until 3pm for lunch.
