Never disappointed by Planet Sub. One of the few places that I visit regularly but never get the same item on the menu. Recently I had their version of a French Dip. I used the online ordering system which thankfully doesn’t require that you make an account. Food came out of the kitchen quickly. It was excellent and well packaged considering the au jus.

Ehhh this place left me with mixed feelings. I was in town for work and ended up here back to back days for lunch. The first day I had the experience and all its melty goodness. It was delicious and had so much flavor in each bite. The second day, I had the buffalo chicken and it just had an odd taste to it. The chicken’s flavor was just out of whack, and there was barely any buffalo sauce to cover it. The bleu cheese that I asked with it, ended up coming in a squeeze packet. You’re a sub shop… And oh yeah, the inside décor is straight out of the 90’s, I felt like I was in an episode of Saved By The Bell.

The key to Planet Sub is its bread, which you can smell blocks away. I’m not sure what the secret is, but from first smell to last bite the bread is one constant to a myriad of amazing sandwich options. About those options… they have hot subs, toasted subs and cold subs. There’s almost every concoction available to choose from. Meat, okay no problem. Just veggies, they can do that. Cream cheese, oh yeah. Don’t feel bad if you have to study the menu a bit because there are a lot of good options. They even serve soup and salad if you’re not in the mood for a sub. This location, especially during lunch rush, can get super busy. They do have a lot of seating though so there shouldn’t be a problem getting a seat, but on occasion you may have to wait for a spot to open up. It happens. Just a quick note if you’re from out of town: This location is smack in the middle of downtown. Parking will be tough, but if you’re down here for a convention or an event it’s a really short walk from where you will be.

Planet Sub gets 1 more star from me. You can now order online! Yayyyy. I always use to feel awkward asking to hold off certain ingredients because they’re so so busy and it feels like you’re wasting their time. Now I can make my pickiness online which is easier for everyone. I tried a wrap for the first time and was pleasantly surprised!

This location seems to be resting on their laurels, which will only last so long. Planet Sub is known for their wonderful sandwiches — great bread and great filling options. These guys are skimping on the fillings. On more than one occasion now I’ve shown my sandwich to my server who has agreed that it was pretty bare. Don’t skimp, gents! Still better than Subway, but there are plenty of good sandwich options downtown — please remain one of them!

I love this place. The sandwiches are hot enough to fog up my glasses when I take that first bite. The bread is second to none – it screams FRESH! I’d highly recommend«The Experience», with tasty crisp bacon, grilled chicken, jalapeños, and cream cheese. This location is pedestrian friendly(parking downtown sucks), with plenty of seating and fast service.

A touch on the expensive side for a sub, but their quality is awesome. I never leave unsatisfied. Broad array of fresh ingredients, toasty delicious bread, and usually pretty awesome staff. PSub over Subway any day of the week.

One of my favorite places to get a sandwich. They have some great sandwiches, including a tasty chicken parm and a BBQ brisket that let’s you know you’re treating yourself for lunch.

I’ve been here twice. Both times were great. The lunch crowd is pretty thick but regardless I took about 30 minutes between my arrival and throwing my trash in the can and moonwalking out the door. I’ve had the Planet Combo with Brisket and Turkey. It had artichoke on it and peppers which I wasn’t to crazy about, but thats my own fault for ordering it. It was still good and I would return. The guy told me all the different meats they had and the list was longer than a home run in a football stadium. I’ll be back, it was cheap and solid just as I would expect from a sub chain. Props, yo.

Good bread. Full menu of vegetarian subs. This is not subway. However, this is not, as they have posted on their signage, FAST food. Call ahead to save time.

While this is a local chain, I don’t think Planet Sub gets the kudos it deserves for having some of the most delicious vegetarian offerings in town. With an entire veggie menu, it might be hard to choose — the Pesto Bello and Tempeh Parmesan are my favorites(see, I can’t even pick one favorite off the veggie menu!) Order a half size if you’re only moderately hungry — the full size subs are HUGE. Another pleasant surprise? The great soups. The broccoli cheddar soup is one of the best I’ve ever had. The soups change over regularly, but I’ve never had a soup there that wasn’t an excellent version of itself. It gets crowded at lunch time, so be sure to give yourself a few extra minutes — the downtown lunch crowd really packs in between about 11:30 — 12:30. Outside of that, subs come out quickly and the service is always friendly.

Planet Sub holds a spot in my heart only because of the location in Lawrence, Yello Sub. Man what I would give to go back to my college days and eat meatball subs and rice crispy treats with a Fanta Strawberry to wash it all down. Oh the fondness that Planet Sub gives me… This location is alright and it’s really busy since it’s in the heart of the business district. My main beef with this place is the gigantic sitting area right in the middle of the place. Mind my words, I said sitting, not seating. Sure there are a few booths, but the area is an annoying waste of space for people to just stand and wait. And when it fills up with Dicks and Janes waiting on their lunch to go, there is nowhere to stand to wait on your own food. Awkward and annoying as hell. My meatball sub and soda was $ 8. Not really worth it, but what other option did I have at that point. The meatballs are always a safe choice. Meatballs, sauce, and cheese, all melted together on some fresh bread. Can’t go to wrong with that. I’ll probably continue to come here because it’s close to work, but I just hate that middle oasis of awkward standing room.

I must confess Im not a frequent patron of Planet Sub but everytime I visit this store the food is excellent and the staff is very friendly and efficient. The last time I was in I got a cup of black bean soup: just the right amount of spice, excellent consistency, albeit a little too salty for me, but still very good. This is a dependable stand-by for anyone in the market for a well made, reasonably priced lunch. Keep up the good work guys

If you know Planet Sub then you know that you are getting good sandwiches. Its a good local success story. If you are a real aficionado of Planet Sub then you will notice that the menu board here downtown does not have all the sandwiches on it. That does not mean you cannot order those sandwiches. The Planet Combo with double Italian sausage is my favorite and is not on the menu. I would give all the other planet subs 4 stars but there is one loud dude that works there that really interrupts my lunch conversation or peace time. Knocked a star off. * Menu 1. Great sandwiches — many standbys and many originals… but here downtown, the menu is incomplete and does not contain their full list of sandwiches * Wine List 1. NA * Cleanliness 1. Yes… very * Décor 1. Nothing special… its a sandwich shop * Atmosphere 1. Busy at lunch — quite at other times. They serve breakfast too… great place for a quiet breakfast. * Other Patrons 1. Business folks mostly * Kitchen Staff 1. Happy to work there. they do have one guy whose voice is like nails on a chalkboard. He delivers sandwiches to your table. When you order you get a playing card and he YELLS your card number and suit. He is too loud and interrupts conversations. I actually don’t eat in anymore so I can avoid his voice. * Host 1. NA * Location 1. Town Pavilion downtown * Parking 1. Crappy downtown parking * Restrooms 1. ?? never been * Cuisine 1. Great sandwiches * Presentation 1. Wrapped in aluminium foil * Creativity 1. Original sandwiches are indeed that — original. Also has standard sandwiches.

Hot subs on wheat bread with plenty of choices and lots of local flair. What else could you ask for? I’ll tell you what. The only downside to the this location is that it closes down at around 6pm i think. I really with wish they were open later. I understand they are in an odd location for that though. This location is on the outside of the Town Pavilion building.
