Denny’s is Denny’s. It’s not a place you willingly go to. It’s when all options have dried up(or it’s midnight) and you have nowhere else to turn. It does pretty well being situated in the same parking lot as the Drury, but I’m sure the folks at the Drury would much rather eat the free food there than walk to Denny’s. I had bone dry French toast my first visit and the waitress was weird as hell. Every time I asked a question, she gave me this look like I was stupid or something. I know waiting isn’t the best job in the world, but the condescending attitude has got to stop. The second time, the restaurant was half-full, but only had two waitresses. I felt so bad for ours. She was running around like a chicken with her head cut off, sweating and overwhelmed. I thought she was about to pass out. It took them forever to sit us, bring us menus, our drinks, our food… it was just a long night. I ordered the steak and eggs… My steak was overcooked, but I didn’t expect much. The eggs were perfectly over-easy, though. My coworker ordered the salmon. At first, our waitress told us that the piece of salmon the chef cooked was too small so she ordered another one for free, but that one took about 15 minutes and was crispy, crackly dry by the time it got to our table. Come on, Denny’s. The only reason this Denny’s isn’t receiving one star is because of the people there, mainly the customers. Being the place that it is, it attracts some of the most bizarre and interesting people. My coworkers and I ran into a magic troupe one night and got a free magic show.(And the guy with the Koolaid red mohawk and the black vest and pocket watch doing card tricks was gorgeous~) But as I’ve stated before, no one goes to Denny’s — they end up there.

Got food poisoning, I’m assuming from my over easy eggs not being fully cooked. And the bacon… What a joke. Seriously disappointed but at least I’m feeling better now!

I’m hoping my server reads this review and quits to find a better restaurant because this Denny’s is a dump. I was greeted warmly by a young man and he said to sit in his section. He did everything right. He suggestive selled, he upgraded my drink order. I watched him do the same for his other table, bumping their tab up $ 20 without taking a breath. Its to bad that no one was helping him at all. In fact it almost seemed like the other servers were sabatoging his good intentions. While he was taking my order another server came right up to my table to ask him for a cigarette. When he excused himself to tell her to leave him alone she started a phone conversation. All right at my table while Hes taking my order. My food arrived quickly and it was mediocre. The restaurant wasn’t very clean but that’s to be expected when most of the employees don’t care. I hope that young man finds a more upscale place to work because his skills are excellent.

If I could give ZERO stars I would! I have gone to this location on and off for 17 years and I have never had a good experience! Just 30 mins ago I got home from another terrific visit. There were maybe 5 other tables in there but it took 30 mins after being seated to be recognized. They brought us menus and then we waited 15 more mins for water and someone to take our order. Everything we got was oily and burnt. We never got anymore water after the first fill. We never saw our waitress again as she had friends to talk to. When we complained we were treated like we were over reacting, insignificant idiots. … The time before this visit a waitress with a wrist brace spilled a hot syrup carafe onto the table which bounced and sprayed sticky syrup all over my friend and I. Silk shirts were ruined, in our hair and on our glasses! SHUTTHISLOCATIONDOWN, PLEASE! IFYOUCAREABOUTYOURCOMPANY! This is the Denny’s that represents Kansas city as it is next to the stadiums and off I70. Ffffffffff this location! Go to the Noland rd location, they are always on par!

I wish I could give this place no stars! Went there when it wasn’t busy. Maybe there was 4 other tables and then my party. We placed our drink order and order at the same time. We ordered 4 waters, an orange juice and ice tea. It took 30min for her to bring our drinks!!! When my friend asked the hostess she replied, «can you give her a minute!». This of course was after 20min of waiting. Finally we get our drinks and she brings the brightest neon yellow orange juice and when my friend tasted it he about puked. The waitress told us our food was coming out in 5 min. After waiting another 20 min we finally stood up and told the hostess to cancel our order. Horrible!

Ugh. What can I really say? The food was below average, the waitress was a dingbat and its just not good. I always think that Denny’s will be OK but I just end up dissapointed. As my husband said, McDonalds breakfast is actually better.

First off we went here after a Royals game(they lost to the Sox 4 – 3) so it was around 10:30 or so, making it odder/freakier than a Dennys normally is. We were greeted and seated immediately by a nice young guy who got our drink order for us. Our server came over a few minutes later and was very friendly. While waiting for our food to arrive we watched our server grab a drink and her purse, yelling over her shoulder to us that she would be back in a bit. We then watched her walk to her car, start it up and drive off. When our food came up on the pass it really only sat for a couple of minutes before another server brought it to us. While eating the manager on duty got pretty loud with one of the servers when she said it was slow and she wanted to go home. It went on for quite a few minutes and honestly was really starting to irritate me. Meanwhile back at the booth a very weird couple came in and sat 2 booths over. I couldnt tell if she was a hooker or just cracked out. The guy with her looked worse. Everything was going well, relatively, when a hellacious thunderstorm kicked in. It poured and poured for about 10 minutes when we saw our original server come back. The lights flickered and went out. A few seconds later they came on, but went right back down. I told my husband finish what you got, we are out of here. No way Im sticking around this place in the dark. Lights went up and down about 7 more times before they went out for good. The freaky cracked out couple got up and started walking around. The woman stood at the register walking back and forth while the guy started walking to the back of the restaurant. The lights came up one more time and we were leaving! My husband whipped out cash and tried to pay, but the register was down. He said keep the change we’re out of here. Walking/sprinting for the door a guy who was now with the freaky couple was walking with us to the door and said you dont want to do that. My husband side stepped him and we were gone. Dennys after dark, you always take your chances on who/what you will encounter. By the way the food was good. I love their club sandwich.
