This place is actually pretty good, as far as casino buffets go. Usually eating at casinos is something I actively try to avoid. I’m not a huge fan of crab legs and I think it’s pretty silly to pay that much when I plan on eating veggies and side dishes, but my dad and sister can’t get enough of the things, so last Friday night we decided to come here with a friend. We chose Isle of Capri because the price for the dinner buffet was significantly cheaper, at $ 20.99, than most other casino restaurants. Even skipping the crab legs, I found plenty of food to keep me happy. This will sound funny, but their mashed potatoes and gravy were freaking phenomenal. The dessert bar was pretty fantastic too. If I hadn’t gone crazy with the mashed potatoes, I could have enjoyed some more of the delicious chocolate covered strawberries. I have been craving some of those strawberries all week. The staff could have been more attentive. Understandably it was Friday night and I don’t expect to have my empty plates cleared the moment I finish, but I also don’t enjoy coming back with seconds and having to stack plates two or three high. I tend to be a pretty picky eater and have high expectations of the restaurants where I eat, but overall, eating here was a treat and I would gladly return.

I won a free meal or else I don’t usually do casino buffets. I went for lunch on a Sunday. I enjoyed the salad bar immensely. In fact, that was mostly what I ate. The hot food bar was not well-stocked. I think you can get better food at Ryans. I’d expect better food from a Casino, but didn’t get it here. This food was about hospital-grade in my opinion. Things were underseasoned, overprocessed, and alien in appearance. So, I just ate lots and lots of salad. They had several prepared salads that I really liked, so since it was free, I was okay with that. I decided to try a dessert. The desserts didn’t look like much, but I took a piece of chocolate pie that was pretty good. I was tempted to try some more, but that didn’t seem very healthy of me, so I headed home. I find myself craving some of their salads, but I’m not paying $ 10+ for a salad bar and some dessert because the hot food is not worth putting in my mouth.

This place is alright if you are using comps, but I would not pay for it. It bothers me that none of the food is ever labeled what it actually is. The food is not very good but at least they usually keep it fresh.

Roomie was craving crab legs. Now being a mere 4’11, doesn’t stop her from tearing a hole in the ocean of the crab population. So a search for a crab buffet was in order. I figured the casinos would be a good bet. After comparing days and price, Calypso won with being available Friday & Saturday with the cheapest price of $ 21.99/person. The price seam reasonable for her crab fest. Me on the other hand, am not a fan of crabs. Also I was on a healthy eating binge at the time. So, for a picky eater was this place suitable. I would have to say yes it was. I found many healthy options. I stuck to mostly veggies and sugar free desserts. Even though this is a smaller buffet version compared to other KC casino buffets. It still has a good variety. I was thoroughly pleased with all options. As for the staff? Excellent. The cashier was extra friendly. The seater was pleasant and accommodating. Our drink/busyboy was always on a hustle and very observant. Severs were on top of buffet lines and keep food items full and cleaned. Managers were present and attentive. Everyone tried to make you feel like this was a place to come home to eat too and not just a stand in line and get a meal place. The only other time I have been here was for the their breakfast buffet and few years back. If I remember correctly, it was just as good. Would I be back? For sure!
