Burned my pizza crust twice, then when they got it right, it still wasn’t that good. I’ve had better pizza on airport food courts. I mean charred burned, not just grill marks from the oven. Cute wait staff but that’s about the only thing this place has going for it. Can’t wait for Spin Pizza to take over this spot.

You can’t be known for being a cool place to get a beer if it is flat from the tap. I know what Stone IPA tastes like, and it isn’t that. Really good pizza. I hope you don’t like beer.

Geez. What can I say other than I’ve given this place a shot(or 4 to be more exact) and I’m still not feeling it. Probably never will. Went for lunch with my youngest kiddo. She wanted the beef soft taco(from the kids menu) and I ordered the calzone. Here is what we got instead: «Beef soft taco» — Overcooked hamburger(yes a hamburger) that had been cooked to it’s dry death, complete with blackened burned edges, roughly chopped up, placed in a flour tortilla and paraded as a «beef soft taco» for real. Just looking at it was unappetizing. «Calzone» — Puffy dough that was nicely baked and filled with… pepperoni and mushrooms. Just pepperoni and mushrooms. Nothing else. As in, no sauce. No cheese. What say what? Who makes a calzone with nothing inside to keep it all together? This was also perplexing. And very weird. And unappetizing again. The waitress brought the check. I explained that my daughters«beef soft taco» meal was completely not edible and I said my calzone was the strangest and least tasty I’d had. I showed her the doughy dry crust filled with only pepperoni and mushrooms. She just said that’s how they make them. Paid and left. But not before I gave the manager/owner my two cents as I was leaving. With two tables during the lunch hour(me being one of them) you’d think they’d be all over customer service, but no. I’ve gone back here for meetings(not my choice) and sucked it up and ordered an appetizer only. Still nothing special.

The food was fine but the service was the worst. They were busy and I get that but the servers/bartenders were so scattered it was almost comical. We walked in and were somewhat acknowledged and then ignored. Instead of giving us the menus and going back to the mayhem we were completely ignored. Finally the bartender/server said I will bring you menus and got sidetracked several times. I finally got up and asked for them instead of any kind of apology she just handed them to me in a hurry. We waited for a while until Richard finally stepped up to the plate. He noticed we’ve been sitting there for quite a while and asked if we’ve been helped. We said no and he immediately started to wait on us and apologized. That was cool. The food was good. We got charged for fries we never received. Richard took it off. Will I go back? Hell no! I hope the owners read this. I understand that you get busy and you may have to wait. No problem, but to have them be so scattered and unprofessional, not cool. These people except Richard would never work for me and if they did I’d fire them or tell them to straighten up or ship out.

I gave this place another shot. I tried is when it first opened a few years ago and did not personally care for the pizza sauce. Today I tried the shrimp chorizo pizza withe the jalapeño cream sauce… pretty good. next time id make my own combo… J cream, shrimp and chicken and pepper jack instead of chorizo but it was good. I loved the beer selection including my favorite(hard to find) Stella Cidre!!! I know this does not appeal to most people but it’s a fave of mine so yippee. Good serve, friendly bartender. ok enough to try again!

I will return. I have seen comments about poor service. I had good and friendly service. I enjoyed the pizza. One had big mushrooms and not little slices. The buffalo pizza was tasty and not just hot. There was more oil than I like, but overall the pizza was good. The in store prices were higher than the Web posted prices. That is just lazy(criminal?) on the part of the owners. I will return.

Everything was great for us tonight! All pizza was excellent~we were a party of 20 and we had several different kinds of pies(white pizza was to die for!) ~the wings, mac n cheese, pretzels, fries and chicken fingers were killer too. The entire table was way impressed with the food. Super convenient after ice skating across the street. And after reading the other reviews, sounds like Savannah should have been your server. :( She was the best we’ve ever had at Allstar! Thank you!!!

I really wanted this place to be good. It has a cool atmosphere, great beer selection, and plenty of tv’s for sports. I’ve been three times and I’ve had problems with them two of those three times. We waited an hour and a half on the first occasion for our food but the pizza was good. The cooks were yelling at each other and the wait staff. The second time it was a totally different kind of pizza that they were making and definitely not as good as the first time we went. They must have lost their chef or changed ingredient distributors. The third time we went for beers and football. No problems they had that covered.

I have been wanting to try this place ever since I moved into my new apartment at Burlington Creek, and I thought that there was not a more appropriate time than the first game of the World Series! It sucks to say that I was overall disappointed with my visit. You would think that a place with brick-oven pizza and 43 beers on draft would be a force to be reckoned with, but their biggest downfall is one of the easier things to fix: service. It was terrible. I would have sooner summoned a genie from a bottle than gotten the attention of one of their preoccupied servers or bartenders. I mean, it was genuinely bad. I was even overcharged for a beer and didn’t find it worth bringing it to the attention of the bartender. In all honesty, it was a full house, but it wasn’t busy. Everyone there was there for the game and only needed minimum maintenance. I can’t comment on their pizza because I didn’t get a chance to try it, but I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Dip as an appetizer. No chicken. No buffalo. WHAT?! It was literally sour cream with trace amounts of buffalo sauce to change the color and with a price tag of $ 10, it was for sure not worth it. I can’t promise that I will be back.

The absolute best sports bar and restaurant in KC. Great for adults or families. Unmatched assortments of craft beers; it’s almost beer heaven. Great gourmet affordable food too. I had the Mac n cheese jazzed up with pick, beef, and jalapeño. Delicious! Highly recommended.

Since moving to the Northland, All Star Pizza has quickly become my go-to bar for craft beer and sports. Sadly, there’s really nothing else nearby that fills this niche. As a sports bar, All Star Pizza is well above average. It’s clean, they have a great selection of craft beers on tap, plenty of tv’s all around, and generally a good atmosphere in which to watch a game. They also have pretty decent pizza, but in my opinion it’s a little overpriced. My favorite time to come is during their happy hour, from 4−6pm M-Sa and 9−11pm Th-Sa, during which they offer good food and drink deals. My biggest complaint here is the crowd. I never know what to expect when I come. Sometimes it seems like a drunken college bar and other times it’s packed with 40 and 50-somethings reliving their glory days. Not really my preferred crowd, but as I mentioned earlier, if you want a good craft beer in this part of town, you don’t have many other options.

The first thing I noticed was the strange placement of the door in relation to seating. It’s always odd to me to see a table almost blocking the entrance, but it had an open kitchen which is typically a good thing. We were seated and promptly removed the dirty and nasty table topper thing to find a sticky table underneath. We looked through the menu, all decided on burgers and fries. The service was attentive as expected. It took awhile to get the food which gave me too much time to look around at the dirty walls — urg and to watch the cook prepare the food which he while eating and drinking! I ordered a mushroom and Swiss burger with truffle fries — everything is ala carte, please know that you can share an order of fries. The burger was good, the mushrooms excellent big chunks that stood out and tasted excellent. The swiss was an odd glob of processed swiss or maybe American. For a $ 1 premium on the truffle fries, they could have splashed on a whole lot more… Overall, bar with bar food. Not good, not bad. I’d image it’s perfect after 3 or 4 and concentrating on a game.

I have been to All Star many times without a review. I really like the variety of craft beers on tap. If you cannot find something to drink that you like here it is a shame. The food is decent. My favorite is the Thai Pie due to my total love of Sriracha. Other items that I have tired and liked are the wings, really big with great flavor. The atmosphere at least during the day is low key, a place you can chill without a lot of noise. The staff is nice and accommodating.

This was my first time here and maybe I hyped it up more than I should have. It looks pretty big and cool form the outside but that is not the case inside. There is a little bar area and then a big long dining room(which had no tvs) weird huh? For being a sports place? It took awhile for us to be waited on and there was hardly anyone there. We ordered the Supreme pizza and honestly it looked better than it tasted. It tastes like home made pizza. Some people might like that taste, but when I think of pizza i think of Domino’s, Pizza Hut, etc. This tasted like I could have simply made it. The pizza was average at best but it was filled with fresh veggies, which I really liked! They have a really good beer selection of all different kinds and they even have a board that says how much alcohol is in the beer! I might go back and if I do i just wont get pizza.

I’ve heard about the beer selection, and it is indeed excellent. Not an obscene number of taps at maybe 20 or so, but the ones they do have are thoughtfully selected by people that clearly know and love beer. There is a little bit of everything, with a bit of a focus on seasonals, and the selection is probably worth the trip alone. Bummer it sits in a random strip mall. Today’s trip was for a late lunch, though, and that’s something to be much less excited about. Naturally, with a place with pizza in the name, coupled with my minor obsession with pizza, I had to try it. We ordered a simple mushroom and Italian sausage pie, though the menu does offer a variety of specialty pizzas that may atone for some of this pizza’s shortcomings. It wasn’t bad. It certainly wasn’t good. The spark of my love for pizza wasn’t there. I just didn’t feel anything at all. The crust was dense with a little sweetness. Generally, the flavor was acceptable, if not lacking nuance, but the texture was unsatisfying. The sauce was so thinly apportioned you could barely taste it, but you weren’t missing much. Sampling a dip of the same sauce that came with an appetizer, it was runny and sweet without any savory balance. The cheese was also a stingy layer that added little flavor. This left the toppings to overpower the experience, with the greasy sausage setting the baseline. Credit, though, to the mushrooms — big fresh chunks roasted enough as to not be too wet and ruin the pie — but with such a wimpy supporting cast, they overpowered the pizza with their fermentation-like flavor. In all aspects of the pie, it seemed that someone hit the excellent tap selection too hard and thought it would be hilarious to steal the spice rack from the kitchen. They haven’t replaced it. Suburban strip mall bias aside, the space is decent for what it is, and the service was friendly and excellent, though we were the only diners at the time. If you’re in the neighborhood, this is one of the least objectionable places to grab a beer and maybe some appetizer, but save your pizza allowance for something far more worthy.

Looking for a stereotypical suburban eatery? Well, here ya go. Went to this place for a Sporting KC watch party; there were about 15 of us. They didn’t look like they knew what they were supposed to do with us, although I’m not sure if that’s their fault or if it was just miscommunication about the event. We were in the bar area, with decent views of the game and a pretty good set up. Service was… OK. It wasn’t spectacular, but it certainly wasn’t bad. Again, it seemed like they were a little thrown that there was a group of people in there to watch a sporting event. Which is a little bit unusual for a sports bar. I’m not sure if I can give the food anything more than a «neutral» rating. I had the mac and cheese — and sadly, the blue box with the powdered cheese would have been an improvement on this stuff. My friend had a pizza, which he claimed was fantastic — so I considered it a wash. In general, though, I didn’t see anything on the menu that would set this place apart from any other sports bar. The restaurant side was pretty dead on the weeknight we went, but we noticed an open– kitchen area and children’s artwork hanging on the walls(which someone here had mentioned earlier). There were also some coin-op games leading towards the restroom area, the bathrooms themselves were clean, and the prices were reasonable. They just didn’t give me anything special — anything to differentiate it from any other sports bar, anywhere. Perhaps they weren’t trying to. But — that’s also why it gets an average rating.

Well… the pizza is good, and they have an above average beer list. That’s gotta count for something, right? I’ve had this place on my radar for a while, simply because I had been told by people in the craft beer circles that this Northland restaurant and bar was aggressively trying to make a name for itself. This always struck me as odd, as the name sounds more akin to Showbiz Pizza or Chuck E Cheese than to a beer bar, or any place for people over 9. But not wanting to judge a book by it’s cover, I went along with some friends. I was closer to being correct than I had ever seriously imagined. Walking in the front door, the space is divided into what seems to be a main bar, and a dining room. Our party was too large to fit into the bar, so we were in the dining area. Immediately I felt ill at ease. The place was SERIOUSLY bright and the walls are covered in submissions to some children’s coloring contest. There are flyers everywhere about how to raise money for your child’s school programs. I can only imagine the uncomfortable juxtaposition of a few guys getting smashed watching the game on TV while a little league team sits at the next table, celebrating a big win. To me, this screams of a major identity crisis. You cannot attempt to be all things to all people, or you’ll just do everything in a mediocre manner. That being said, the food was rather tasty. They have a lot of great specialty pizzas, and the prices were legit. They have a gluten free crust, though they charge extra for it. To me that seems like bad PR. Take a hit on the cost of a crust and be the place that one KNOWS they can take their gluten-sensitive friend or relative. The nachos(which I felt compelled to snap a photo of) were equal parts delicious and disgusting. Service was bad. bad bad bad. Dude needs to figure out a new career option. I’m sure this cannot be the standard, and we just got a dud. The other employees seemed competent. I don’t even know what else to say about this place. A lot of people like this place, and more power to them. I’m just not in their company. I doubt I’ll be back.

I started out a little meh with ASP. I was excited when they first opened because they were so close to my house and, if I remember correctly, they had a former PB&J chef design their menu but my first two dining experiences were average at best. Then an interesting thing happened, I went there with my kids. Normally, dining out with my children is far from desirable but I showed up with my children AND3 additional children and their parents. Most restaurants would see 5 kids and 4 adults and cringe. Not at All Star! They have lot’s of long tables that can accommodate groups of any size. Then they did the coolest thing — they gave the kids pizza dough to play with. It was amazing because my boys were having fun, playing quietly and didn’t notice when our food took quite a long time.(We ordered wings.) Unfortunately, they no longer can give out pizza dough(health department) but they won my kids over so now whenever we ask where they want to go for dinner, All Star makes the list. I would say their pizza is solid and has grown on me after many visits. They have good burgers and I like their wings.(whole wing, like the Peanut.) They have a good beer selection and a full bar. They have two sides, I consider one side the adult section and the other the family section but I don’t think they make that delineation. And I must mention– this is not a chain! That’s huge! I love to give my $$ to independent restaurant owners whenever I can.

This place has a LOT going for it, and after one visit, I’m definitely a fan! First of all, the menu is pretty damn decent for what is basically a sports bar. There are all kinds of options, and I love that you can get a buffalo burger instead of a regular burger(for a slight up charge). I think the real star of the menu, though, is the pizza. You can go the traditional route, or you can go with something like the Shrimpy(which I did). People, they have shrimp on a pizza.(And chorizo, roasted peppers, avocado, and jalapeño sauce) OMG. The bartender told me that I’d be craving this pizza, and 3 days later, I am. The other pizzas sound pretty good too. They’re all brick fired, made fresh(Gluten-free pizza is also available), and there are a wide variety of nontraditional toppings to choose from, if you like to be adventurous. And I do. My husband had the Florentine pizza, which has chicken, prosciutto, spinach, artichokes, and a lot of gooey cheese on it. No red sauce, this one has a creamy sauce, and it was also really good, if a bit cheesy for me. He also had a Greek salad, which he enjoyed. The pizzas are very reasonably priced, and one of the smalls will more than fill you up. I suggest stopping in for dinner with a companion, or two, and ordering a couple of different pizzas so you can taste a bit of everything. But hey, a lot of the menu looked good, and I hear the mac and cheese has few rivals. Another thing this place has going for it is a good bartender. I’m a bit biased, as he used to be our bartender at another Northland location, but Grant does a great job of keeping your drink full and making sure you have everything you need. He’s the kind of bartender that will quickly learn your name, remember you the next time you’re in, and have your drink of choice waiting for you as you slide onto a bar stool. At a neighborhood joint like this, that’s the right kind of bartender to have. Lastly, All Star Pizza & Pub is not only a great sports bar, but it’s also a place that really focuses on community and highlighting youth athletics. I think it’s pretty cool that the owner wants to promote what’s going on locally. The location is a little bit out of the way for non-Northland residents, and it can be a bit difficult to find(it’s in the Tuileries Plaza near Em Chamas), but I suggest making the extra effort if you want a decent meal in a laid-back environment. I think I’m going to be a regular here in no time.
