My son drowned today in swim class. Theres only one instructor for classes. The instructor would not have known he was drowning if it wasn’t for me and my husband running to pull him out of the water. My sons hands slipped from the railing in the pool. And the instructor had the nerve to say«we have rules». My son was following rules but his hands slipped. That was my sons second swimming lessons from them and was our last. There needs to be two instructors in the water with these kids. Will be calling Diane on Monday!!!

I just celebrated my destination wedding in Oahu. Since I was unable to visit before the wedding, I had to do everything online — a daunting task. But everything worked out wonderfully. Not wanting a hotel reception and hoping to just have fun in a beautiful location, I held my wedding reception in Atherton Hall at the YWCA Camp Kokokahi. Everything was amazing! The site is right off of Kaneohe Bay providing a beautiful backdrop of water, lights and boats, there is a large grassy area behind the hall for pictures, volleyball, etc, and the staff were incredible. They really went out of their way to accommodate our group; even letting us borrow a volleyball net and ball for the reception! Communication was easy(Casey was very attentive), check in and out were a breeze and we were able to choose our own caterer, bartender, and other vendors. It was exactly what I was looking for. We had a party with 60 people so we rented both the hall and attached kitchen. We had enough space for tables, people, iPod DJ, a photo booth and bar setup. I would probably not recommend it for groups larger than 75 people or so if you want room for things like a dance floor but it was perfect for our needs. And the hall is so pretty that we really didn’t need to do much decorating. With a few paper lanterns and some table decoration, everything was simple and beautiful. I would definitely recommend hosting an event at Atherton Hall. THANKYOU to everyone from the YWCA that helped make our day so special! NOTE — the building is not air conditioned so it does get a little warm, but we all had a great time.

Excellent swim classes, I recommend Ms. Erin! Just had some problems with the business side with lack of communication. There seemed to be a disconnect between the business office and the actual instructors. We signed up and paid but the swim instructor had no idea we were coming. Otherwise, we love it!

I’ve signed up my son for what is now his 3rd swimming session with this YWCA. It’s honestly super convenient for us as it’s almost right next door. But we are happy with the lessons he gets and though the class can be as big as 6 kids, the instructors are good to make sure each kid gets their chance. My son’s favorite teacher so far has been Mr. Steven!
