Richard’s Plumbing

I’m updating to make this purely factual. I called Richard to give me a quote on an active leak. He said he would visit the property in Kanoehe the next day or possibly 2 days later. He lives in the area. I gave him a lockbox combination and told him it was urgent because on Thursday our deadline for inspecting the property was coming up.
2 days later, his daughter called and asked if I was going to meet him at the property that day. I said I could not, because I was on Kauai. I told her that it was very urgent, and she told me that he probably would not do it. A few minutes later, Richard called and said he would not go to the property unless I met him in person.
I explained that I was off island and it was urgent. I asked for anything at all, even a ballpark estimate, even a ridiculously high number, and he refused, so I told him I would find someone else. He said that would be better.
Another plumber did the job that day and it was resolved within hours.
Bottom line is that I asked for a quote and days later he had not yet informed me that he was not going to give me a quote at all because we had not met in person.
In response to my bad review, he or a friend of his used another profile on Unilocal,James P, and gave me a scathing review that has nothing to do with my business, since he has not been a client of ours. Retaliation in response to a review is against Unilocal’s Terms Of Service and simply unethical. «James» made some purely emotional statements about me personally, and whether it is Richard himself or a friend, is a fake review since I have never had a James P as a client and certainly not Richard.
This James P also happens to have reviewed Richard with 5 stars, and admits he is a friend of Richard’s.

Ran through a list of plumbers in the windward area from my Go To referral source — Unilocal — late saturday. Thank goodness Richard was recently added!
I called several places who didn’t answer, but luckily he did. He was able to come out within 45 minutes, on a Saturday night! He was couteous, efficient, and knew what he was doing! We got our leaking faucet fixed and the price is very reasonable. He’s not trying to gouge you but really respects his customers.
He did mention he may be relocating to the big Island in 5 years so I better get all my plumbing checked and fixed before then! That’s how impressed I was with him. He’s now bookmarked in Unilocal because he’s the best plumber I have found over the last few years. Yes I have an older house that needs work and for plumbing I plan to use Richard. Now if I could find an as good electrician, mason, handyman…
