Buns: «What shall we eat today…» Me: «Corn dogs!!!» Buns: «Just corn dogs?» Me: «…And zucchini sticks?» Some days all a person wants is the simplicity of a corn dog. But not the frozen ones you get at the store– the freshly dipped and fried to perfection corn dog that reminds you of being at the carnival. Today I got that and it made me smile. It was a hard sell to my love as we hadn’t eaten anything all day, but being on the Windward side all I could think about was the crispy battered goodness found at Hot Dog on a Stick. I described it as such: «Buns, it’s the best corn dog you will get when the carnival isn’t in town. The batter is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside with the perfect blend of sweet and salty. We can accompany it with zucchini fries and can check off one of our vegetables servings.» It was all that I described and more as they introduced us to saracha ketchup. Now with saracha ketchup as a condiment a visit to this establishment will not be as hard to sell next time.

What?! I haven’t done a review on HDOS yet?! what’s wrong with me! I love this place! I live in Mililani so hardly ever on this side of the island, but when I am, HDOS is a must. There is always a line and a long wait though. I noticed how hard they work. The cashier that helped me was taking orders and operating the fryer. I waited quite some time for my cheese stick and funnel sticks, but sympathized for her. She was so busy, took my funnel sticks out the fryer, help the long line of people and by the time it was served to me, it was already sorta stale tasting, but I still ate it. haha. Can’t believe this is the only location on the island.

My friend, Doris, just LOVES this place. She’ll drive all the way from Kalihi to get a corn dog from Hot Dog on a Stick. This is the only one on the island! Located in the Food Court on the Ground Floor of Windward Mall in Kaneohe, this shop is in the corner, near the restroom and ATM. The friendly staff are dressed in uniforms and caps of red, yellow and blue. Instead of the stamp card, there’s an app for a great Rewards Program! I was there for the last day of 70 cent Turkey Hot Dogs on a Stick. This was a special celebration of their 70th anniversary! This was every Tuesday for the month of March 2016. Besides the corn dogs, I also enjoy the freshly squeezed lemonade. It’s available in Cherry, Original and Lime flavors! They also have Fried Fish and Zucchini sticks; Funnel Cake sticks, French fries, and more! If you’re craving some fried food, have a snack here! Just order at the counter and grab a seat at one of the many tables in the Food Court or take your order to go!

I can’t quite believe I’m reviewing Hot Dog on a Stick — and that I’m giving it four stars. But it’s good. The main things I’m reviewing here are the fried fish. the fried zucchini, and of course, the lemonade. The lemonade is excellent, which is to be expected given that it’s one of their featured items. A large will run you just a tad over $ 3; they serve a frozen version as well. The fish and zucchini were a complete surprise. Who would have expected those items at a hot dog stand? But for $ 7.50, you can get the combo with four pieces of fish and five or six long pieces of zucchini — crispy and hot. For an extra dollar, you can add a scoop of rice. It’s delicious and satisfying. I’m not a big fan of their tartar sauce, but we bring a bottle of hot sauce and voila! Yes, they’re known for their corn dog — the eponymous hot dog on a stick — and they have fried cheese on a stick and french fries as well. But it’s the fish and zucchini that keep us coming back. Service has been decent; seating is abundant in the Windward Mall food court; and there’s plenty of free parking in the lot.

Love Hot Dog on a Stick and it’s the only reason why I come to this mall. The cashier was doing the work of three people and I was so impressed.

If you don’t want to wait for the state fair to get your corndog, you can always head over to Windward Mall and check out Hot Dog on a stick. It’s definitely not healthy but it is so ono! Especially when you load it with mustard. For the health conscience, they have turkey dogs too. Lol! Idk if it makes a difference but its all in the mind right? The waffle sticks are really good but their super sweet! If you over indulge with this you’ll get queasy. Maybe even discourage a return visit. The lemonade with Li Hing Mui was perfect today. Nice and tangy and not over sweet like the last visit. Idk how long ago they move from the second floor by Straub but their on the food court area on the bottom floor. There’s a short cut to this place on the Kam hwy side loading dock to the left of Sears. You’ll see a double door with one side just barely open and no handle. Just open that door and the next double door and boom! It’s on your right when you walk out that door.

Today is monday the 12 of october and I haven’t come to hot dog on a stick in awhile, today I went in 15 mins til 9. Two workers both cleaning waited about 5 mins before they turned around, probably thinking well go away. Brittany then turned around all huffy and rude. With a poor attitude I understand it’s late but there was no sign stating they closed down at 830. Wiped something on the ground threw it in a trash bag located by the fryer then touches the tongs sticks hand in frozen French fries. The literally stares at you. I will be making a complaint to the manager food is good, but customer service was horrible. I’m a restaurant manager I would not tolerate attitude like that

What more can I say about the food here that hasn’t already been? Nothing. I won’t reiterate what the other reviewers already mentioned and just stick to my opinion. IMO, this place has the best hotdog on a stick and lemonade. Something about the hotdog on a stick just makes you crave it from time to time. I like that it’s not salty and ketchup is optional. Their lemonade has equal parts sweetness and tartness which equals perfection! These two items are a must and go well like PB&J. If you haven’t tried this place, you’ve been missing out and I highly suggest you take a drive over to satisfy your hunger!

Yes, I drive all the way to Windward mall just to get some hotdog on a stick and their famous lemonade. I wish there was another hot dog on a stick closer to me but then that is why its so good. Service is like 5 star restaurant. Always friendly, professional and efficient. And usually, it’s busy and there’s a line. So bring your friend patience with you. I do feel bad that the store is located closer to restroom so there’s even more foot traffic when you’re in line. But they probably got a discount on their lease for being close to the restroom. Who knows? As for taste, I love it! The hotdog is never too greasy even though it just came out of oil pool. I also love their crispy french fries and their fresh squeezed lemonade. Sometimes you can catch them squeezing out the lemon juice with their pogo sticks.

Haven’t been to windward mall in a long time, and thought maybe I’d get a corn dog because it’s one of those comfort foods that you can eat on the go. Stopped by and saw so many tables full, and thought great thing I was getting a corn dog since you don’t need a table to eat it. As I got to the front, no one was working the front and thought maybe their getting stuff from the back? Waited about 2 – 4 mins until someone came out. Then I was just irritated. 3 girls working and not even a look out front or a sorry we’ll be with you shortly. They were just talking a storm and not paying attention towards the customers waiting. Sure I know it’s a busy Sunday, but if there’s customers in front waiting why not let one person stay up front take orders, and at least have the up coming orders ready? I’ve seen business like this, and for sure wouldn’t want to come back. Also one of the menu screens were on a blank desktop screen so not sure what’s going on there too… Overall very disappointed in a business that has so much potential

Everytime I’m craving a good corndog and some lemonade… THISISTHESPOT. It is a far drive for me(Hawaii standards, of course!), but it is worth the drive. I hop on to H3 and in 25 minutes I’m at Windward Mall. Sometimes the lines get real long, but the corndogs are worth the wait. They’ve got a combo deal now: any corndog or cheese stick, a regular drink, and French fries: all for $ 6.99. Hey, that’s a pretty good deal! Their food is always consistent and so are their drinks. I usually head this way once a month and always make a stop at Hot Dog on a Stick. It’s a nice change of scenery from all the other malls on the island. Enjoy!

Hot dog on a stick, I love the worker’s uniform. Customer service was quick and the food was great. I especially love their cheese stick, it warms my mouth when first bitten, it satisfies my tummy. This is always my first stop to get something to eat, it’s a must to visit!

Walking around the Windward Mall Food Court, we came across Hot Dog on a Stick. I’ve never seen this restaurant before so we gave it a whirl. Their menu is simple. They sell homemade lemonades, hot dogs on a stick(obviously), fried zucchini, fries, cheese sticks, etc. Their cornbread batter is excellent. It’s slightly sweet, gives the turkey dog a slightly crisp outer layer and is fluffy within. Each hot dog is dipped upon ordering, so nothing is sitting under a headlamp here. Their lemonade had a tart kick to it, which was very refreshing. Freshly squeezed indeed. Employees were friendly and quick.

I’m giving this place 4 stars for the fact that I’m addicted to their frozen lemonade with cherry and lime syrup. Most people don’t know that you can ask for more than one flavor syrup but they allow it. This mixture is the best frozen lemonade ever. I wish they had a Hot Dog on a Stick in town so I don’t have to go to Windward Mall for this. Everything else no the menu is so-so for me. I don’t like zucchini period. It doesn’t matter how you make it. The fried fish is ok. It’s really crunchy but very oily. I don’t really care for corn dogs but get them most of the time anyway since it’s what they’re known for. The girls working behind the counter are always nice. They’re always cheerful and smiling.

My favorite reason to visit Windward Mall is to completely ruin my healthy protein and veggies filled diet with Hot Dog On A Stick! If I could create the Universe all over again there are a few things I would change: 1) I would make it so that the healthiest thing you could eat on planet Earth would be a deep fried corn dog!!! Along with cotton candy, fried chicken and Rocky Road ice cream. All calorie free and actually makes you better looking! 2) I would make men and women equal so we’d both take turns having the babies. But I’d still give us the same body parts because I’ve had way too many men tell me «Oh it can’t be that hard to have a baby.» Well buddy, not it’s your turn to squeeze a watermelon out of your body parts. Have fun guys! 3) I’d get rid of boobs. Yes, I said it. They really create a lot of stress and inequality in the world and I think if we were all flat chested life would be so much more comfortable for everyone. Think about it. No bras, no weird staring at chests, no unnecessary plastic surgery. But if I could change the world in this way, would I enjoy corn dogs as much as I do now? Because then it wouldn’t be a guilty pleasure… Ugh, it must be so hard to make these kind of decisions when you’re the creator of the Universe! It’s been awhile since my last Hot Dog On A Stick review and at first I had a small panic attack because they were no longer on the second floor of the mall. I exhaled a sigh of relief when I saw that they had relocated to the newly renovated food court on the bottom floor. We made a b-line for my friends dressed in their colorful blue, red and yellow costumes and ordered up a set of corn dogs along with regular lemonade. I asked the girl at the counter whether or not I should order the«lite» version and she told me that it doesn’t taste nearly as good and is made with splenda. I just thought that a «lite» would be made with less sugar so I was glad she told me why it was«lite.» I don’t drink diet soda so why start drinking diet lemonade! Our order took about five minutes to come out of the fryer and we ate them in the car with packets of yellow mustard. Yup, they’re still my favorite food on a stick and I am a happy camper! I was personally very pleased with my experience at Hot Dog On A Stick and found the girls working the counter to be friendly and helpful. Keep up the good work and I look forward to my next trip to the Windward side for a corn dog and a lemonade!

Since I wasn’t happy with my earlier selection, I dumped it and grabbed an all beef corn dog and funnel sticks. I haven’t been to a Hot Dog on a Stick in over six years and this was worth it. They too were busy, but got my order up fast. I should’ve gone here in the first place. Much better than I expected. This was the first time I tries the funnel sticks and they were good too. A bit of chewiness with a crunch. Yum.

This was my first time visiting Oahu’s only hotdog on a stick. The food was on point for hitting the craving spot. I absolutely die over cheese & dogs deep fried in corn goodness! The zucchini & fish was tasty but not what I was CRAVING… Service has room for improvement. Both employees avoided acknowledging us. I work in the industry so I understand that a person gets busy with ‘chores’ but I recommend at least saying ‘hey there, I’ll be right with you’ while finishing up what you’re doing. TIP: coming back? Ask for a stamp card.
