Gale’s True Value Hardware

We needed a new Snow Blower, and found exactly what we were looking for. We were assisted by 2 different people, who both made extra effort to help us in any way. The filled out the warranty cards, and mailed them, found a way to save us a couple of bucks, and tested and loaded the Snow Blower in our car.
This is our first time at Gale’s True Value, but we will be back.
A few days later we received a handwritten thank-​you card.
We will recommend this business to anyone.

After a horrific and, sexist, experience at Lowe’s (I didn’t expect them to have the specific electrical tool I was seeking but, hoped they could order it for me) I ended up driving to Gale’s out of desperation. At Lowe’s, I was treated as if I was insane for asking for something as bizarre as an inside read folding ruler (I know, women in the skilled trades are so rare and scary!). They didn’t know what I was talking about so, naturally, they treated me as if I didn’t know what I was talking about and, essentially, refused to help me. Out of options, I drove to Gale’s. The very first person I spoke to not only knew exactly what I was talking about but, found the product for me in less than 60 seconds. He then proceeded to follow me around the store (as opposed to passing me off to one inept craigslist hire after another) answering every insignificant question and making sure I was content. Yes, at Gale’s you may spend a dollar or two more but, can you put a price on respect? I, personally, cannot.
Thank you very much for being a part of my city. My professional life would suffer without you.

Gales is the very best hardware store in the Kalamazoo area, and has been for at least the last 20 years.
i have been a regular customer, and although some of the staff has changed in the last 5 years or so, the quality of service and merchandise has remained great.
yes, sometimes you have to go to Lowes or Home Depot, but it is far more gratifying to support a well run local business.

Went in today to get a couple of keys made. There were a ton of people there (Saturday in springtime with a sale on), but I was still helped right away. Good place.
