Terrible service on a slow night. Good pizza but the service ruined the experience. It might be best to order to go because it seems like they don’t want you in there.

Great pizza for a decent price. We were super hungry after a long hiking day, so it hit the spot. Not impressed with the service. Restaurant did not seem busy, but it was quite the lengthy wait for refills, check, etc. Might be worth a shot.

In all honesty, being from NY, I didn’t think I’d be writing a review for a pizza place on Kauai but here I am! The food was great! We didn’t check out the buffet that everyone raves about but whether it was stopping by to eat or grabbing a pie to go, Brick Oven Pizza was definitely one of our go to spots while on the island!

I don’t get it. What’s the big deal. The pizza isn’t very special. It’s pretty salty and undercooked and the twisted buttery crust is really doughy. The Portuguese bean soup is watery too. Best part of our order was the spicy bbq chicken wings and the nice lady on the phone. Overall the main concern is how expensive it all was for something mediocre. $ 47 for a bowl of soup, wings, and a large pizza :/

Good flavor for a pizzeria on an island. However, the size of a pie is nothing you’d expect — they’re super small and over priced(a medium is really a personal sized and $ 20; a cup of soda is $ 3.15). Quick and friendly though.

Get the white crust brushed with garlic with the homemade italian sausage. It is the bomb!

This is terrible pizza. It gets 1 star for its friendly, kind staff and 1 star for its local history. But I’m from New York, now living in San Francisco, and this well-intentioned breadlike confection does not resemble any pizza I’ve ever eaten. Do yourself a favor and, even if you’re craving pizza and your kid is dying for it, go somewhere else and enjoy one of Kauai’s many other hometown specialties instead.

Best pizza on the island. We were looking for something other than resort food or «hawaiian» food. Something to make it feel more like home was what we were looking for. This pizza hit the spot. We got half Italian sausage and half pepperoni. They also put a garlic butter sauce on the crust which makes all the difference. This isn’t the Chicago style pizza I’m used to, but its pretty good. You should give it a try. They have a full bar and several beers on tap as well. They also have pizza take out. The staff was pretty attentive as well.

When visiting the south side or the west, you should stop and enjoy Brick Oven Pizza in Kalaheo. We stopped in on a Monday evening and the place was busy with local families and a few tourists(like us). When visiting Kauai we always enjoy Brick Oven’s good service and big pizzas, and a couple years ago they added a buffet. The buffet is less than $ 17 and has a rotating assortment of pizzas, pastas and a nice salad bar. There are even a couple«desert» pizzas worth enjoying. Overall an excellent value and worth a stop when returning from Waiamea Canyon or other west side adventures.

Friendly service and fantastic pizza. The homemade sauce and crust won us over. We did question the fact that there was someone at the table next to us that was not wearing shoes and proceeded to play with his toes, then eat his pizza. I have to think that the waitress did not notice.

I know there’s a Brick Oven Pizza on the island I live on, but honestly… I don’t think I’d ever drive out to Kaneohe or Kapolei, just for pizza. I actually probably will never drive out to Kaneohe or Kapolei for any type of food(for just myself). It’s a different story if it was a party! Well, I mean, when my friend and I were driving back from Waimea Canyon back to the place we were staying at in Kapaa, we said…“why not try the original Brick Oven Pizza?” And… that, we did. We ordered their pizza, of course. Why go to a pizza place and not order pizza?! My friend and I decided on their super pizza and their margherita… apparently their two most popular! And they let us do a half and half pizza! The crust was great! My favorite was definitely the margherita, but the super pizza was definitely good too! We even had leftovers for lunch the next day. Overall the pizza was delicious, but not the best I’ve had. Definitely would come if I want pizza and within reasonable distance… but not drive out of my way to get. Which probably means… I won’t be trying any of Oahu’s Brick Oven Pizza any time soon.

What happened to the best pizza place on Kauai? We went to brick oven on a Thursday night to have their pizza buffet. They were super slammed for this buffet and everyone there was watching the Eddie Aikau surf competition. The service was really on top of it. Kudos to these ladies, for working so hard and yet give awesome service to their customers. The reason why I knocked of 2 stars is because the buffet line couldn’t keep up with the pizza. Also when putting replaced items such as hot wings, garlic bread, spaghetti sauce, etc, they don’t change the pans. The cooks just dump the newly cooked item in the pan that was sitting there from the previous food item. I don’t know about their food policy but I would think its cross contamination? Hmmmmmm? I wonder. I just thought it was pretty odd for them to do that. Especially when you know that there’s crusts of sauces on the sides of the same pan or hard dried out noodles from the first batch. We’ve been coming here for years, ever since the original brick oven pizza was by the fire station. And this location is by far the best from out of the few chains that they have. We’ll come back one day but not anytime soon.

4.5 stars a solid place for some fresh oven pizza! They also have other items unexpected on the menu. Plenty of seating, a full bar with draught beer. Ordered the steamed clams: lemon/garlic and drizzled with oyster sauce. Whaaaa? It was pretty good, but the sauce is a bit much so it was over seasoned. Delicious small clams, great start to a meal. Ordered the medium smoked ham and pineapple(for us mainland folks — hawaiian pizza): we got the garlic oil over the crust: super scrumptious, the crust is crispy on the outside, not over baked, the toppings, cheese, and sauce is just right. This was probably our only non-Hawaiian style meal in our trip, but a really delicious one!

Great spot — little flexibility on the pizza though. We got a small between 2 people for the Meat pizza. There was a ton of meat on it for sure! It was unfortunate that we could not substitute the bacon for jalapenos instead. Likely cheaper for them. As for the service, there was only 1 other party there. The waitress was kind. I can definitely see this place being packed with pizza/beer lovers. Great spot to hang out with an ice cold beer from the tap!

Ordered a housemade Italian sausage and fresh tomato pizza to go on whole wheat crust. Very tasty and good sausage that was not greasy. The medium was good for two with leftovers the next day. No complaints for an easy dinner on the hotel lanai with a cold beer! The pizza was hot and ready to go when we arrived.

It’s been 10 loooong years but we are back! I’ve claimed this is the best pizza on the planet… Ok I traveled a bit in 10 years. However while I will back off my initial claim… I still put it right up there near the top. The difference this time… No kidlets… To play with the dough, off season so no lines(thank Gawd). Also no AC… Rather hot and stuffy in there. Also while it was delish… We could only eat half!!! Ah well we have an oven albeit not a brick oven, to heat up the rest. Or maybe… We will try it cold the next day so I may be able to claim it’s the best day after cold pizza on the planet!

Really, REALLY wanted to like this place… the vibe was cool and it’s in a neat older style building and the other reviews were really glowing. We cruised in closer to closing than we normally would but the hostess said it wouldn’t be a problem. We sat at the bar while we waited for a table and were completely ignored… no drink menus, no offer to order a drink while waited, not even acknowledgement of our presence. When we were seated the lack of attention persisted. If it wasn’t late and if there were other options we would have left. After finally getting to order drinks and dinner we found out that they were out of one of their two types of dough and toppings listed on the menu. We worked through it… we were hungry. Then it became obvious, with the exception of the other group that was clearly visitors, everyone else was getting consistent and timely service. The salad was bag lettuce and a squirt of dressing. Our ordeal finally came to an end an hour and a half after it started. Two drinks, one crappy sale and a half way decent pizza took an hour and a half and cost us $ 60. Mahalo.

The pizza is great, there were six of us and everyone was quite happy with the food. We were slightly annoyed that even though we all also ordered salads, the salads were served with the rest of the order. While it is a fairly expensive meal, the lunch specials offer a good deal. The house made sausage is certainly worth trying. The lack of air conditioning was felt today, however coming from the Pacific Northwest, heat is not my friend. We asked to split the bill as we ordered, apparently that was beyond their standard practice.

Based the density of the cars parked in the parking lot, we had high hopes for this place. We were seated immediately, and our hostess handed us 2 separate menus without explaining the difference and walked off. Our friendly waitress soon showed up and asked if we were ready to order. A resounding ‘no’, made her retreat while we studied the menu. We eventually settled on starting with the Bruschetta followed by a Medium Bay Shrimp and Fresh Garlic pizza on whole wheat crust. The Bruschetta arrived, served in a bowl surrounded by toasted French bread(where’s the ciabatta?) slathered in melted mozzarella cheese(!) — the tomato/basil concoction itself tasted perfectly fine, but Brick Oven Pizza would do themselves a tremendous favor by studying the art of Mediterranean cooking, Bruschetta is supposed to be light and refreshing — not weighed down by fatty cheese. The pizza itself was the biggest disappointment of all — we counted a grand total of fifteen(15!) tiny shrimp on a 12″ pizza, divided across 10 slices — the only other ingredients on this thing were chopped garlic — that had all seemed to migrate to the groove under the edge of the crust — and copious amounts of cheese. We literally had 1 bite of shrimp and 5 bites of cheese/marinara per slice, resulting in a «Margarita» style experience, minus the basil. I sincerely hope we had the one bad pick off the menu, but somehow doubt it, and at $ 24 for a 12″ pizza, you’re better off at visiting Pizzetta in Koloa…
