Slim choices and way over priced. Found similar wine for less a short walk away at Whole Foods. They do have a few unusual finds but you’ll pay for it. Go to Costco if you are not in a rush

Love this R Fields! Usually you find R Fields located inside Foodland but this location is a stand alone connected to the grocery store. We walked in to grab a few bottles of wine for a BYOB dinner next door and were greeted by a fantastic selection. This can feel overwhelming because earnestly after a long day I don’t want to make anymore decisions. Luckily their wine buyer was working the counter and he gave us several great suggestions! We were so happy with his helpfulness and we walked out with two lovely bottles, each under $ 20. We enjoyed the bottles with my in-laws and it made our pizza dinner extra memorable. Next time we’re in the area we’re definitely going to stop by to grab a few bottles for our celebration!

I am going to start this review with one, major fact: I am a foodie. BIG time. Which means that I enjoy ALL different kinds of food. I also should mention that I lived in Europe for nearly 11 years– wandering like a gipsy. I moved back home *accepting* the fact that many of the foods that became a staple in my daily life(like great wine, mozzarella di bufala and pâté) I would no longer have access to… at least, not as easily. Then– one day– beau and i were waiting for our table at prima pizza and decided to buy a bottle of wine at the shop right next door… I walked in, glanced around — and suddenly like a strike of lightning(the good kine) the light of heaven shone through the shelves of bottles of primitivo wine and then again through the glass doors of the refrigerated section of the real mozzarella and burrata and gorgonzola cheese and they began to sing to me like an enchanting chorus of angels and then I turned to the right and there was a section of prosciutto di San Daniele and pâté with black truffle and imported speck and I just about fainted when I saw the infused olive oils from puglia and sardegna… Beau liked the whiskey options and the only reason why we left and I didn’t drool on the floor was because we had reservations elsewhere AND I bought half a pound of pâté, some awesome organic chocolates and crispy flat bread crackers… I’ll be back for the cheese! You can sample pretty much anything in the salumi and pâté section to make sure you like it. Pâté runs from about $ 15 to $ 20 per pound. You don’t need a lot! It can stretch if you’re making some predinner fancy schmancy snacks.

I have to admit that when Whole Foods sprang up in Kailua, I was worried about this place. This place is the Nietzsche of high end grocery stores, what ever doesn’t kill it makes it stronger. Great experience #1: Before New Year’s Eve. Wife wanted to make a charcuterie board for the holiday. R. Field’s knowledgable staff was right there recommending superior meats cutting our sopresetta and serrano ham with great gusto. Wife is not a fan of champagne, but they had a nice alternative… Lambrusco which is a sweet red wine with bubbles. We also got a nice riesling. New Year’s Eve was a hit. Great experience #2: Generous product sampling. R. Field brings in wine distributors every Saturday to show their wares. Today, the Absolut guy was there giving free Bloody Mary and Cosmo samples. Never had a shot of the hards in a grocery store until now. Much win. They even give samples of the many fine chocolate products they stock. Sure Whole Foods has all of everything in overwhelming quantities. But when you want a quick stop in for that special meal you are planning. This place wins hands down.

I love love LOVE this place! There’s a beautiful variety of reds and whites and everything in between! I’ve never had a hard time with the workers. They’ve all been so knowledgable and patient with me. If you’re ever in the heart of Kailua, make sure you make it a point to stop by and pick up a nice bottle of wine! Cheers!!!

Great wine selection, decent alcohol selection. Great meat and cheese selection. A lot of European treats that I remember having when I was a child too. I’m a fan.

I wasn’t always a huge fan or had even eaten much gourmet food. But my then hottie boyfriend now hottie husband got a job as a sales associate here and started bringing all kinds of goodies home for us to try. He was bringing home chocolate caramels with sea salt and bacon, atleast 3 bottles of wine a week for us to try, cheeses and more. Their store has got by far the best cheese selection on the island. They’ve also got an extensive meat selection. We love cacciatorri and genoa salami from here and recently started eating the peopperoni from here too, all ONO! What really is the best about this store is their reliable, friendly and EXTREMELY knowledgeable staff. I know jack about wines and my husband picked up quite a bit while working there but we still rely on Brian and Pat and Jeremy to help us pair the right red with our steak or whatever we’re eating. You can ask them anything about any of the foods in the store and even what is the best restaurant for the type of food you’re craving that night. Most of them are very passionate about food and travel which is why they work here. Other items they offer are fresh Nalo Farms greens and herbs, organic brussell sprouts, haricot verts, oodles of Italian noodles and pasta sauces and everything else a su chef needs to become or atleast look like a gourmet! You will not be dissapointed with the food or the staff!

This is one of my more favorite R. Field Wine Company locations on the island. They have a decent selection of old and new world wines, with a good range of prices and varietals. They are a bit weak when it comes to new world, specifically Napa, allocation selections. Other wine shops around the island have much better selections of limited allocation releases. I’m also missing mixed format bottles here — I wish sometimes they had some mags and double mags of their more reasonable labels. The majority of the shop is dedicated to dry and refrigerated goods. If you want vinegar, tartuffi, salami, pastas, sauces, scones, or local, organic butter — this is the place! The staff is sometimes friendly sometimes standoffish. I’ve noticed a direct correlation between how I dress and how I’m treated which, I know, is common. It’s still sad to see, however.

This place is great. It’s a bit expensive, but the wine and other foods are great. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. it’s like a mini Whole Foods in Kailua.

R Field is a good resource if you are trying to prepare haute European meals. Come in with adjusted expectations and keep in mind this is Hawaii, it has to be transported an extra leg, & their isn’t a big market for this stuff, because the selection & quality is not going to be comparable with a good shop in California. Often the soft cheeses are slimy… but they do have a good returns policy. Interesting meats are usually only available frozen and of forgettable quality(for the price) etc., I should note… the R Field at Foodland Beretania has much greater selection and much more knowledgeable staff. I usually shop at that one when I am doing my run to Mercado de la Raza every couple of months or so. Also… the wine markup is much better at Tamura’s. And I have found Tamura’s to be more flexible about special orders.

The cheese, the meats, the wine! Yum!!! We’re especially fond of the procuitto, pancetta, and soppresata. Classic Italian.

I go there for their Amedei chocolates and their prosciutto de parma! Pat and Joanne, who are both super friendly and down to earth, not to mention extremely professional, will help you with any questions. Most recently, I purchased a fettuccini egg pasta that made me think that I’ve only had crappy pasta before. It was ridiculously good and yes, in the Blue Steel sort of way! It rocked my world! It is pricey, but alas, so are most of the finer things in life…

Jeremy helped us pick out some great wine(we hope… we’ll let it sit in the cellar for a while) and was very knowledgeable. The selection of Pâté was a little dissapointing(only 2 choices) but we were happy with the Chicken Pâté we selected… luckily we were allowed to taste first. Overall, this location seems smaller but better stocked than the one in town. I’ll definitely stop by here next time we’re doing BYOB on the Windward side.

The staff here is very helpful, especially Patricia(I hope I recall her name correctly). She’s always very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. Get the La Tur when they have it. Incredible cheese. It’s one of my favorite cheeses and this is the only place on the island I’ve found it. We also pick up some jamon serrano here. It never lasts more than a day. Soo good. I love this place. I only wish I lived closer to it, but it’s probably better for my pocketbook that I don’t.

this place is EPIC. coche-dury and ponsot on the shelves? in a small store attached to a supermarket? wake up, «gourmet markets» of the Bay Area — you’ll learn a lot from R Field. it’s stuffed with killer rhones, germans, even canadian ice wine. rumor has it Kermit Lynch lives down the block so you know they’re going to front zind-humbrechts for days — and how else could they get coche? dammit this place is like a dream, an ethereal spoonfull of miracles after you’re already overwhelmed by Kailua’s spectral resonance.

Ask for Jeremy or Brooke and they’ll address all your gourmet food and wine questions/needs. If they don’t have something you want, they’ll suggest other places. The other employees are pretty helpful too. I lust after the heirloom tomatoes! I love the selection of pasta, and pickled items. Grab some of their cheese, a bottle of wine, and your choice of other amazing tidbits available at R Field Kailua, and you’ve got a great evening in the making. Located in Kailua Foodland.

Although this is a company affiliated with the chain Foodland, this is a wine spot worth stopping at. They import wines, the selection is pretty vast and they are pretty good at directing you to the right wine for your tastes.
