Maui Mike’s Fire-Roasted Chicken

My wife and I visited the relatively new (opened Oct 15) Maui Mike’s Fire-​Roasted Chicken restaurant in Kailua (Enchanted Lake) yesterday and we were very happy with the high quality, flavor, appearance and smell of our ono eats! The restaurant is new, clean and well looked after. The staff is friendly, courteous and efficient. Whenever we travel to kailua we’ll be sure to eat at Maui Mike’s Fire-​Roasted Chicken (we do the same when we go to Wahiawa)!

Anyone remember the First Stop chicken place back in the 80’s? I used to love the Haole plate, the chicken was so juicy. When they closed I never thought I’d find chicken like that.
Maui Mikes is the bomb, fresh, hot juicy delicious chicken. Simple.

Delicious and local– minutes from public and Lanikai beach. We were visiting and hungry. Unfortunately we had a variety of tastes and food allergies to contend w. This place was perfect as it is gluten free and easy– also delicious fresh to order chicken! Highly recommend you stop and eat!

What is there not to say about this place? If you wanna go beast mode on some dank chicken and fries– go. Do it. Just do it.

I went to maui mikes the first night I got back to the island. I love the roasted chicken. It doesn’t have the spices that I am used to. I still love them none the less.

I’ve always wondered how was there chicken here, and so driving in Kailua today n I was craving chicken. Wudda u know! We came to Maui Mikes for our first time.
First of the staff was da bomb! Very welcoming. Restaurant was clean too. Jarice (*spelling) was awesome, he’s the one that took our order.
We ordered the feast combo, they even cut up our whole chicken in 8s. Chicken was ono! Came off the bone easily! Jarice gave us recommendation on the dipping sauce because there was so many. So we got Bbq sweet, honey mustard (which was my fave), and I forgot the other sauce almost like Tabasco which wasn’t that hot so it was good too. Comes with 2 sides, we chose white rice and coleslaw. Coleslaw was good too. Jarice ended up hooking is up with brown rice because it’s much healthier! Thank u jarice! We didn’t end up eating our white rice we ordered.
Great staff, awesome food! Will definitely eat there again!

Fantastic fantastic chicken. All of the sides we got were excellent, the sandwich was great, and the chicken was incredibly tender and perfectly cooked. Good amount of seating, good selection of BBQ sauces, friendly faces, clean small store with a dozen or so indoor tables and 3 or 4 outdoor tables. Appropriately priced, good portion sizes. This is a great place, highly recommended!

Maui Mike’s is simple, good food. The fries are amazing, seasoned just right and piping hot when they are served to you. My favorite is the BBQ sandwich, filled with cheesy goodness and also nice and hot when served up.
The owner is an extremely friendly guy and he and I got to talking about In-​N-​Out and their business model. Maui Mike’s is all about the same concept: fresh food, served hot, with a simple menu.
We have since taken various groups of friends here to eat and all of them have fallen in love.
If you’re hesitant to try it, check out their menu online and I’d you like what you see, give it a chance. I would, have, and will continue to, recommend this place to everyone I know.

I came to Maui Mike’s when I came to vacation in Hawaii about a week ago. I was totally impressed with their chicken. They have it out in display in their big fire roaster. It’s pretty cool to see.
I got the half chicken plate with corn and their Cajun fries. Everything was soo tasty. I truly loved every bite I had. The fries were so awesome. I loved that seasoning.
The chicken was so juicy and tender. It was some of the best chicken I’ve had. They have a variety of sauces, and I was impressed by the flavors of each one. I especially loved the sweet bbq.
I absolutely recommend checking out this place if you want some amazing food. We didn’t go wrong with a single item.

Kids View Of Maui Mike: Ok, my trip to Maui Mike’s was good I’ll definitely give it 4 stars! So, we got there, it was FULL. So we had to wait. I didn’t care much just because I was playing my mom’s games. But if I did not have the phone. I don’t know. Anyway we got the food and got out. I smelled the food and it smelled GREAT!!! I couldn’t wait to eat it! Then, we got home. THE FOOD WAS AWESOME!!! 4.9 Stars for the food! But, 3.9 Stars if you go to Maui Mike’s when it’s busy (to wait). The food was really Ono! :) ALL IN ALL, 4 Stars!

This place totally rocks. Maui Mike was my favorite lunch place when I was stationed in Schofield Barracks. Then I had the misfortune of being stationed elsewhere and I really missed this chicken sandwich place.
I was ecstatic when I found out that Maui Mike opened in Kailua, where I work now! Wahiawa location was really nice, but it is just too far to drive for lunch. Now I can have one of Maui Mike’s mouth watering, juicy chicken sandwiches inside toasted crunchy French bread sandwiches any time! I will be back, many, many times!

Personally not a huge fan of their Cajun fries but that’s me. My family loves them. Other than that the chicken is always soft. Nice size serving.
Be patient as everything is made to order. Worth the wait.

First time there! Long long wait! Understand it’s a new restaurant so will be forgiving. Guy at register at least let us know it was taking awhile! My quarter chicken was tender inside and crispy on outside. Boys had bacon chicken sandwich switch cheese. No complaints from them. Recommend order ahead!

Very surprised with the 4 and 5 star reviews, have these people ever tasted good chicken?
I ordered the #3 (shredded breast with a cup of corn)
Wife ordered quarter chicken with beans. The shredded chicken Breast was dry and the portion size wasn’t even enough to satisfy a small child. The corn was bland and tasted like they poured it out of a can, the beans also tasted like canned baked beans. Wife said the quarter chicken had decent flavor, not as good as Rays huli-​huli, but about the same quality as Costco (I disagree with her and feel Costco is better). They give you 1 sauce choice with your order, which was also a joke, I don’t think I could find a smaller sauce container if I scoured the planet. They must order them custom made to be so small. Each order was over $ 8 and should have been half that.
The bottom line is this place is over priced.
With restaurants you either pay for quality or quantity, and this establishment provided neither.

Super nice people and friendly service but the chix is average. It’s tasty and moist but nothing spectacularly different. The chix serving itself is kinda small. We ordered thigh and drumstick meals for the kids instead of ordering the kids meal which was just a drumstick. It’s a good thing we did because they would have left hungry.
I understand costco chix may have a few forbidden no-no’s like injected saline (say waaaaat?) But it kinda tastes the same and much cheaper.
I guess you could say this is a «healthy option» kinda establishment when it comes to chix.

Delicious rotisserie chicken! So happy these guys opened up shop in Kailua and down the street from us too.
Small shop about 20 seats inside. Order at the counter, very simple menu to chose from. #1−6 combos Quater or Half Chicken, Shredded Breast, or 3 choices of sandwiches. Combos come with side and sauces, choice with or without drink.
Good selection of sides and sauces are quite delicious! Sides: Fries, White or Brown Rice, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Corn. Sauces: BBQ Sweet or Smokey, Lava Hot, Blazin’ Chili, Honey Mustard, Teriyaki, Ranch.
I’d say this is like the perfect beach day meal. Pick up a half or whole chicken, head down to Kailua beach and chill.
First time goers, definitely need to get the quarter or half chicken. Flavor from the skin is already good enough the sauces just add that extra kick that gives them that edge.
It’s a little on the pricey side if you’re comparing to the Costco rotisserie chicken that’s half the price and you get a whole one. But $ 10 gets you a decent lunch for 2 to share.

Two firsts: first time in the Enchanted Lakes Maui Mike’s and my first time getting a sandwich instead of a whole chicken. I’m very happy on both counts!
Usually, I go to Maui Mike’s with the family. Today I happened to be in Enchanted Lakes for work and I spotted this new location. I’m really glad I stopped by. Qualitywise, this new place is just as good as the Wahiawa location. The restaurant is clean and cool and the staff is friendly.
For food, I decided to try the Ranch Bacon Melt sandwich. Awesome doesn’t begin to describe this wonderful sandwich. The sandwich is baked to melt it all together.. This gives the bread a nice crispness on the outside where it’s nice and soft on the inside. This is not a small sandwich — it’s about 8 inches long — and it’s stuffed with white meat chicken, cheddar cheese, bacon and ranch dressing. The flavors are wonderful on their own but the sandwich comes with one of the Maui Mike’s dipping sauces. I chose Sweet BBQ. To dip or not to dip was the question — for each bite! It was great either way. I had my sandwich with a side of baked beans. The beans, too, were excellent. They were soft and tender without being total mush and very nicely seasoned.
I very much enjoyed my visit to the Enchanted Lakes Maui Mike’s and will certainly stop by if I’m in the neighborhood again.

Always great to have another food option although in an already crowded Kailua. This place is located on the corner of Enchanted Lakes shopping center near Starbucks.
Mikes Chicken serves in Hawaii standards, decent bbq food. Obviously like the name they serve mainly chicken. Besides chicken they have a few other sides you can add, like baked beans, rice and fries. You can even select a variety of dips, like bbq, teriyaki, honey mustard, ranch and more.
Let’s start with the food. Chicken was pretty good. I like how they offered to cut your meal, either in quarters or even eighths. However the chicken is no different then what you can purchase at Costco besides the spices. The fries were poor in my opinion very thin especially for bbq. Although you get a lot for your money the food is good not great. I wish they had more sides like cornbread or even biscuits. Just to put it over the edge.
In regards to customer service it was good at first, until they forgot to give me forks and knives which was an inconvenient. Also I hate that ticket line in front of the register, it sounds annoying and can hit the person picking up food. It’s a pet peeve when management has to put up signs like «pardon our service» since they just opened. Those signs are excuses for either 1. Poor training or 2. Poor management.
Offer more selections you can raise yourself some stars. I believe this restaurant’s menu is incomplete. It reminds me of a Food Truck getting its wings into the big league. Hopefully they can add more to the menu and also improve the theming of the restaurant. Which is all over the place.

So I’ll take another crack.
After a week this place is still stellar.
Tonight I got a half chicken with an extra side of beans.
It already comes with one side, and my wife requested rice.
I was in and out as service is quick. Got the Jack of Spades (they give you a playing card they call when your order is ready). Hope they don’t have more than 52 customers at once!
Brought that half bird home.
It had time so sit on that bed of rice and drip all it’s wonderfulness.
Nothing beats chicken’d dripped rice.
Chicken was tender and juicy.
I got the honey mustard and sweet BBQ dipping sauce.
Both were great, but I preferred the honey mustard.
BBQ beans were sweet and stellar.
Dinner for 2 for less than 10 bucks!
Now that «Kailua lifestyle» is a bit more affordable. Hello a deal!
