Nice course with some spectacular views. Course is fairly open but the greens are tough. In the summer you will be beat down by the sun. It is hot, very hot, even with the ocean breeze. All the staff is very nice. Starter(Brown Bear) is a great guy. Super friendly. Pro shop staff are a little grumpy for some reason which kind of hurts the whole experience overall. That and the price restrict me from giving 5 stars. In the summer go up country to a course that is much cooler. You might get a little rain in the afternoon and the course is going to be tougher due to the uphill and downhill lies but you will probably enjoy yourself and not get baked by the sun… and save about 200 bucks.

This is one of the most beautiful courses I have played on. Living on Oahu I’ve been to a few other«resort» courses, but this has by far been the best one. Not only a great course, but there are a crazy amount of amenities. Free drinks such as water, Gatorade, and soda. Free apples and oranges. A free driving range which had Pro V1 practice balls. A cookie jar at the turn! And the best thing was air conditioned bathrooms throughout the course. That was amazing, nothing like feeling some air conditioning when the weather outside is in the 90s. I was able to play two rounds of golf over two days. Was a bit crowded on the weekend, but play was more or less fast. The course is really well maintained and the putting green was immaculate. The one thing could say that the course doesn’t have any«distinctive» holes besides the Par 3 #17. Great course, customer service, and amenities. I wish I could play here every weekend.

I have visited this beautiful course many times and have never been disappointed. It is just gorgeous! Although I am not an avid golfer, even I can appreciate the beauty and technical design of this amazing course. The club amenities are exceptional with an expansive pro shop with both men’s and women’s clothes. The grill at the club has delicious food, try the fish tacos! In he Four Seasons spirit, all the workers are extremely hospitable.

A few big things off the bat if you want a quick review: 1-the greens fees cover golf for the entire day as many holes as you want to play until 6pm. 2-they have fresh cookies at the turn and Sid the food cart guy is the greatest at what he does. 3-lastly, this course is maintained and manicured like they were going to play a PGA tournament here every day. So for our last round of golf to wrap up what was an amazing trip to the big Island my dad some how got us on the 4 seasons exclusive course(you either need to own a house on the course or stay at the 4 season in Kona to play here) idk how he did it but i don’t ask questions at this point i just enjoy it haha. When you first get there you walk down to the club house, which overlooks the 18th green and out into the ocean, and they have a cart all ready for you with bottles of ice water and wet towels for your clubs. We started on 10 because they had to spray the greens on the front nice. The par 3’s on the back nine are both unique, with the first featuring a sand trap in the middle of the green, the second, #17, nestled right along the coast with waves crashing into lava along near the green. The final hole brings you back to the clubhouse, where you’ll likely have a small gallery overlooking your approach shot into the green from the Hualalai Grill above. As for the front nine, it was just as incredible as the back, you make the short drive around to the 1st tee and hit directly towards the volcano peak. Then the course winds around, down and through lava which cuts through the entire course, I got a few lucky bounces today so I was happy. The course is designed to be friendly to those who play smart and destroy those who play stupid, the fairways are pretty expansive and wide and the greens are very fair as well… most of the time your put is super straight. The nice thing about the course is everywhere you look, there are unique views of lava, and, it’s in such good shape. The level of detail that goes into the maintenance of the course is just outstanding. Now for what truly made this one of the most fun and enjoyable rounds of golf I have ever played in my entire life. For those of you who golf, and for those of you who don’t there is a person who drives around the course with food, you know that sometimes a food cart can really make your round. Whether its a cigar or a bloody mary at the right time, these guys and gals really can heighten your round and if they are fun to talk to they are even better! Well the person in charge of the beverage cart at Hualalai is a great man named Sid. The two big this that I loved about this course was the gps style yardage system and even more so than that is Sid. He is hands down without a doubt the greatest that ever was, is, or will be. This guy deserves a medal for the crazy good job he does, and Ive played a lot of golf with a lot of different guys like him and he truly is incredible. The first time he met up with us he informed us that all the drinks were free(idk about booze) but I wanted a passion orange juice and my dad wanted guava juice. So he suggested we mix the two together and it was super tasty, and on top of that he gave us a can of each, to make our own later, in our cooler. He also asked if we got any of the fresh cookies at the turn and we replied no, so he said when he came back he would get us a few. It was about 4 more holes later when he met us walking off the green with another special drink of his… passion orange, guava and papaya juice with a lemon/lime twist, we never asked but he just thought of us, and this drink was so tasty and refreshing on such a hot day. Oh and for the cookies, he brought us a bag of each!!! chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. I mean this guy was amazing, and a blast to talk to as well. I would come back again just for him, he was that good. I’ve played a lot of golf in my life and he’s hands down the best. He also informed us that the greens fees are good for the entire day! So what you can do is play an early round and they go back and spend some family time and hang out at the beach. Then if you feel up to it come out and play another 9 or 18 or as many as you want until 6pm. They also have club rentals for kids if you wana bring them out and goof around later you can. What my dad and I did was play the entire 18, and they since we play a skins game we pushed on the last hole, so we went back to and played the best holes on the course(and also the ones on the water) 15 – 18. And even though I should have expected it, Sid was waiting for us and the end of our second set of holes 15 – 18 with a guava juice for my dad and a passion orange juice for me with some fresh out of the oven cookies! Again at the end we had a tie, so we did it again, but this time went and played 16 – 18, and eventually I won because he hit it in the ocean.
