Little hole the wall restaurant. Don’t judge this place from the outside. Small indoor seating area, but enough room for outdoor dining. I can imagine this place getting busy during peak hours. Went for happy hour marlin tacos for $ 2.50. The tacos had grilled marlin and a tasty chipotle sauce that packed flavor. They tacos were amazing and didn’t have to break the bank.

We has the salmon dip app, and the salmon dip was good, but it’s served with ritz crackers. A toasted baguette would have been lovely, butoh well. I had fish tacos, and let me say I am obsessed with fish tacos. The grilled fish, shredded cabbage, cilantro, onions, lime sour cream, soft corn tortillas! This is NOT what you get here. I will say that the seafood was amazingly fresh, but the fish taco was on a flour tortilla, and it was so cheesy that it tasted more like a fish quesodilla. If I wasn’t so picky about my fish tacos, this might have been OK… maybe, but probably not. The salsa they served tasted like Pace Picante, and that’s just sad. Service was OK, nothing spectacular.

Well sad to say this is the worst meal we’ve ever had on the Big Island! We really tried to eat it but most of it we left behind. Half of us live here, half came from mainland. Waitress and bartender tried very hard to make it right, no problem with them, kitchen staff was really off. Meal cold, sent back and came back cold. Shrimp over cooked.

Food was cold and not good. Service was OK but the food was poor. Would not recommend this place for any one.

Fish tacos were great! Friendly watress, great views of the harbor, and outdoor seating. Perfect dinner after an afternoon down by the bay.

We had the fresh catch spearfish that our friend caught today. Panco crusted, fish tacos, and fish and chips were excellent.

I used to love this place. I don’t live on the island anymore but usually when I visit this is the first place I go after getting off the plane. Between the fresh fish, Marlin dip and bite me sauce I was obsessed… until now. I recently went here at an off hour, but it was still pretty busy. It took a long time to order even a drink. We ordered food and about 30 mins went by and a server hadn’t come by again. After 45 mins we asked someone else what was up with our order and they told us 4 – 5 minutes. Well…20 minutes later we still have no food, no refilled water, no beer that was ordered an hour ago. So we got up and left and won’t be coming back. Shocked by the terrible service and the fact that they can’t actually get any food out.

This hole in a wall restaurant in the marina is unique. As a tourist you feel like you’re eating in a local spot known by only a few. However, I wouldn’t waste your money at this shack. You’d think since you’re right on the ocean the seafood would be fresher than fresh. But it’s not. On top of that, it’s overcooked and somehow still cold by the time it gets to your table. Mm, exactly how I like my seafood. Now I know they aren’t known for their fries, but it’s a bad sign when I can make better ones from a freezer using a microwave than the raw ones they served here. We’ve come here now 3 times and each time it just gets worse. Well, third times the charm. We won’t be back. Pros: seating outside with a great breeze Cons: bad service. bad food.

Food was average at best. I felt like I was eating tuna tacos. Service was average at best.

Had a plate of Ahi poke, then for dinner had the 2 catch tacos,(ONO) and was stuffed. Beers very good. Seating was outside, right above the yachts tossing so smoothly in the harbor. Service very good, was dark but a fun crowd and the games on tv at the bar. Have to drive all over to get to the restaurant but worth the drive.

Not Impressed with the food but price is decent compared to other places in Kona. Place looks old. No good view because covered by bamboo fence. Too hot to eat outside.

Ate here last Sunday for early dinner and had the special of the day which was half lb of crab legs and shrimp and also ordered the pupu platter. Shrimp was tender and delicious. Pupu platter made with Marlin(smoked, ceviche and poke stlye). All were yummy. Good service and quick.

Enjoyed sitting on the deck. Fresh catch of the day was Ono. Good tacos, cold beer, good service, great view of harbor. A nice way to spend lunch with friends on a hot afternoon in Kona away from the usual tourist places.

Pretty decent for a casual lunch. The Pupu platter with ahi poke, ceviche, and smoked fish dip was surprisingly good. I had the shrimp tacos — which were average, but edible. Others in my party had the Marlin sandwich which I heard was awesome — he devoured it before I could even ask for a bite! Burrito was good and filling too. Super friendly and casual staff. The best part of the meal was watching the fresh catch being reeled in from the harbor — we had front row seating. This isn’t always guaranteed, but was a pleasant surprise.

I came into Bite Me an hour or so before I had to head back to San Francisco. It was confusing to find, and parking is a little weird, but the proximity to the Kona airport made it a good choice. We were in a bit of a hurry, but didn’t want to get fast food, and this ended up being a pretty solid choice. My parents and I all ended up getting some version of the swordfish, which was incredibly fresh and delicious. I had the tacos and a salad. The salad wasn’t anything to rave about, but the tacos! Oh man! They were super good. They’ve also got a really solid beer selection, by Hawaiian standards, with knowledgeable employees who are happy to help with a recommendation(I had a brown ale brewed in Hilo, I think I gave it a 3.5 on Untappd :)). My only complaint would be the price. This may have been our most expensive lunch meal of the trip. That said, the proximity to the airport, and the picturesque location made it worth it for us.

seating outside patio to look at the marina. I had fish shrimp tacos with Caesar salad, hubbie had two shrimp tacos. Neither were impressed this was a recommended spot from local. Guess its good for the price? But the best fish tacos are not here. It was marlin fish stringy like pork gets stuck in teeth. And the shrimp was a tad over cooked for both me and the husband. His came with beans and rice which tasted like canned beans nothing extra to spruce em up.

Lunch Jan 2015 Excellent Catch of the Day(ono) Plate with choice of 2 side dishes. Ceviche with chips was good as well. Wish the size of the ceviche pieces a bit smaller however that’s more of a personal preference. Beer brought in can without asking if I’d like it in a glass. Seating is outside on benches unfortunately they blocked most of the view of the harbor with a row of high back benches.

This place is a gem!!! Fish lover? This is the place for you. The service is great and the food??? The food is fantastic! I had the tuna fish melt w/veggies and aioli sauce; came with a portion of coleslaw and chips. Simple and delicious. Appetizer was the smoked marlin spread. What a great pupu. Small and satisfying. And what better to have lunch then overlooking the marina? Fabulous. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking. Literally no traffic at all getting to this place. And one more thing for all your drink lovers out there, specifically sake lovers: try the sake lilikoi margarita. ***oh my, brilliant idea!

I’ve eaten at Bite Me a couple of times and liked it a lot each time. Although the schooners are good at the Harbor House, the food is much better at Bite Me! I love the funkiness, cat and all, of Bite Me. The staff is down to earth and there when you need ‘em. The shrimp tacos, fish burrito and fresh catch with panko crust and pesto sauce were all very good. This is a local institution and a great way to spend an afternoon. The fish market has nice looking fish too.
