This place was perfect for our Maui arrival. Definitely set the tone for a quality trip. I wouldn’t have expected such a great selection of organic, nutritious food items at a market located near the airport car rental places, but I would have been mistaken. Great for foodies, vegans, health nuts, and just about anyone who likes to eat food that both tastes good and is good for you.

There are enough health food stores on the island to leave this one off your list. I ordered the salmon and it was dry and bland, no flavor and I think they had it for at least a week, that’s how dry it was. The staff we encountered at the deli were RUDE. I stood in the designated wait line(there’s actually a sign with an arrow) and waited as the two young girls chatted and made a sandwich together. They walked right past me and helped another lady that had just walked up to another counter. A guy was standing in line behind me and one of the girls walked to the other side of the counter looked at him and asked him if he needed some help. I waited for about ten minutes to get my salad and dry salmon. I was actually hungry and thought it might be good. When we first entered the store there were 2 men behind the counter who just stared at us and one actually shot me the stink eye when he rounded the corner as I was walking past the isle looking for a product. Not one person out of the 6 I believe working in the store asked if they could help me find anything or even welcome me. Not an enjoyable shopping experience at all. I will stick with Hawaiian Moon in Kihei off Kihei road and Whole Foods or Down to Earth in Kahului. Much better selections and food. There is also a great health food store in Paia, Mana Foods that my friends told me has a great selection as well. Im not sure where the pictures they have posted of food came from but none of the salads were that fresh. The salmon in the picture looks NOTHING like what was in the case. It all actually looked very unclean.

The collard green wrap is insanely good, especially followed by the peanut butter cup. I have celiac and this place is incredible for gluten free!

Nice place for a quick bite to eat. Sushi, power salad, and summer roll with peanut sauce are all great! Friendly people and free samples of supplements at cashier.

Not only is this place alive and KICKING, but it is also the«little health food store that could!!» This is the ONLY health food store on Maui in which the staff actually helps, assists and ADVISES in the supplement area. Everywhere else, the staff plead the 5th amendment and suggest that you go consult a professional. If the staff member you speak to happens to be unfamiliar with whatever is ailing you, they will readily admit it and consult another staff member. Alive & Well has helped me during many acute medical crisis. I cannot thank them enough! Plus my 5 year old loves their spicy ahi sushi, and on Sundays when Mountain Slopes Water is closed, I can refill my glass gallon jugs for only .35 cents. I like this place because it is family owned and operated. They are all omnivores, and they are not a big corporate entity. Plus they are centrally located on Hana Highway in Haleakala across from Kanaha Pond. The parking situation is far more preferable than the chaos at the other great health food store way further down the road. Overall, Alive & Well is a diamond in the rough. Their supplements, herbs, vitamins, Chinese herbs, etc., are off the charts thorough and comprehensive. If you’re hungry, they operate a beautiful deli with healthy, non-GMO vegetarian and carnivore fare. Please support this local business. They deserve it!

The most amazing salads and smoothies on the entire island. DJ blast is the best smoothie ever invented. The staff is friendly and very knowledgable. I have a hard time not eating here everyday!

My friends took me here, as I heard they have some delicious raw desserts, and I was not disappointed! So, first of all, this is a smaller health food/grocery store, but they do have a pretty good selection of supplements, cosmetics, groceries and a small fresh prepared food area with indoor seating(tables & chairs). They also have a small juice bar too. I personally loved their fresh nori veggie rolls, which I bought two… one to eat at the store, and one to pack for the plane ride back to the mainland. These were freshly made, very affordable and quite filling too. One of the main reasons I wanted to go there was for dessert for later. They were out of their cheesecake at the time, but I did find some other delicious looking options to choose from that it was almost too hard for me to pick. LOL(Yes, that’s my inner fat kid speaking to me). Well, I ended up deciding on the sweet potato pie with haupia. First of all, the serving size for the pie piece I got was HUGE! I mean it could have easily fed 4 people, but nope, it was just for me! I ended up taking a couple of bits everyday for about 4 days, and I the last day I shared the last bit with a friend. It did travel well back to the mainland in my cooler too(just in case anyone’s thinking of bring some back with them). Staff is great, very friendly and wonderful at answering questions about items within the store. I’ll be back I’m sure! I also purchased a cute tank top for here, which I love. :)

Wish I had found this spot a little earlier while visiting; they had exactly the kind of healthy, delicious food that I like to eat and was looking for! Wonderful spot with warm, friendly service from the owner. The location is cozy, so you may want to get your order to go(:

I LOVE this place. My favorite healthy testy aren’t in Maui is Maui Kombucha in Haiku, but it’s a drive and I live in Kihei. I recently discovered this hidden treasure and I feel so good after eating here. My favorite is the salad trio with their hormone free baked herb chicken breast for ONLY an additional dollar! So juicy and flavorful without being salty or oily. Faaaaave. My favorite salad is the seaweed salad, the vegan Caesar salad with macadamia nuts and the arugula salad. Their desserts are decadent and guilt free too because it’s raw cacao and full of power foods. Can’t wait to try the rest of their food!

Alive and Well it one Those«Health Food Supermarkets» that started before Places like Whole Foods were around and made Foodie and Healthy Food into a commodity. I go there mostly for the Deli that is well Stocked with green salads, them make smoothies to order but I prefer to eat real food for my money. The staff are friendly and know about the products they are selling. Parking is limited but it worth stopping by.

I called this store because they were listed as a store that sold Primal Raw Dog food on the Primal Pet Food website. I asked the guy that answered the phone if they carried Primal and he wasn’t sure at first and then offered to check. He told me they did carry the freeze dried bags and that was what I was looking for because the frozen patties have had some shipping issues lately and I no longer want to take the chance that they have been thawed and re-frozen so I have switched to the freeze dried bags. Plus the cost should be less since the shipping is less because they don’t have to be air shipped. Well, after he told me what they had and the cost I almost fainted. They are charging $ 45 for the same $ 27 bag I have been getting on Amazon Prime. Plus I pay no tax or shipping with Amazon Prime. When I asked him why they charge so much he said that is usually the case with all products in Maui. I have been living in Maui for 11 years and I do see a slight price increase in products but never almost 50%. I refuse to shop at stores that take advantage of marking things up like this and if they continue to do so, I believe they will eventually go out of business which will be their own fault. Bad business!

Excellent food! After spending all of yesterday surviving on airplane food and whatever snacks I had brought with me this place had REAL food. It was much needed and a breath of fresh air. I got the trio salad and every one of the trio was fantastic. Plenty of food. The ambiance is different, obviously, as it is a grocery and supplement store. I wish they had everything on one clear menu, but regardless everything was good. I just had to search a few places before I could find out what all they had. Be patient and look on both sides of the counter and read all of the 8.5÷11 menus displayed about. :)

Bad experience today as I overheard the older man who works here tell a woman that Ezekiel bread is gluten free when it is not. The company makes gluten free products, but that is not one of them. I have celiac disease, have been gluten free for seven years, and was able to quickly Google while in line whether or not Ezekiel bread contains gluten. It does, and yet they are doling out incorrect information so easily. He even tried to explain why Ezekiel bread is gluten free, but clearly he doesn’t actually know how the product is manufactured. I can’t believe this is still happening to people when trying to find food that is safe for them. Thankfully the customer is only choosing to avoid gluten because if she had been newly diagnosed as celiac or gluten sensitive then she could have been made horribly ill!

This place is the bomb. I mainly come here for the food bar, and get the salad trio for 10.99. The main thing that really attracts me to this place is the integrity these guys have. Everything’s made of local/organic ingredients and no short cuts are taken(they use safflower mayo instead of canola), and that can be very hard to find. Plus, the food here is quite good. What are you waiting for, go get some awesome food!

Alive and Well is one of my favorite places for natural foods, and health items, their deli is good, I wouldn’t call it the best for a natural/health deli, it is good, don’t get me wrong, their soups are good, wraps, and sandwiches too. It is just missing something to make me a true fan. Would I take people there? Most definitely would, like I said, the store is really a good little small natural health business and been around a long time very good for sure, it is worth a stop to get something to eat. Small frozen food section with natural meats, yes I would recommend this place… just missing something for me to be a fan. I do like the fact they have some seating inside to rest and eat.

I got food from here almost every day in Maui. They have pretty incredible smoothies, my choice for breakfast. Everything else I had was also off the charts delicious-o. I could eat from here knowing that nothing junky was going into my body. Refreshing!

Prices for stuff in this health store are what you’d expect of a health store. This review is for the salad bar! We decided to come here as it was near the airport and we just wanted to pick something up to sorta detox before our flight home after a week of indulgence. The people behind the counter are super nice and offer lots of samples! Everything looked really good but we opted for the avocado+kale salad, quinoa salad, and a piece of salmon. All were dericious and super fresh! When taking a bite, it was just refreshing to have something taste AND feel good for you. I will definitely come back again next time we’re in Maui. Those desserts looked really good. Overall, what we got at the salad bar cost about $ 11 which was very reasonable, would probably cost over $ 17+ at the airport.
