Great tasting room, even better wine and very friendly faces. Boyfriend and I went in just for some tasters and ending up becoming a member. Highly recommend to anyone who loves reds!

Great wine and even better owners. We bought the membership for Julian and Morena Blvd in San Diego. Try all the red wines they put out. It’s amazing.

I’ve never been to a winery where I liked all of the wines they offered… until now. The hubby and I walked in today and purchased the 6 tastes for $ 10. They had run out of two other reds(they only serve reds) but we figured we’d try it out — we love reds. Tried the Nebiolli first, Sangiovese, and then the Syrah — all yummy. We got one more pour of the Syrah and tried their sangria which was really good. We weren’t too happy with the lack of attention we received walking in and through out our visit(hence four out of five stars) — almost left actually. But overall we really enjoyed the wines and purchased two bottles.

This rustic little joint is a must try when visiting. I was really feeling the Sangiovese, which is the best wine here by far, and the sangria as as authentic to that of Spain.

If you go to Julian, you must check this off your list. You can’t miss it with the cozy patio of shops, their brightly painted blue farm doors, dual wine cork wreathes, hay bales, and the rustic wooden Adirondack chairs in front. When you walk in, it has a wide rectangular open space with a huge bar top from left to right so you can instantly walk up and taste. We’ve been here a few times but there was always a long line and huge crowds. It was such a treat to have only another couple in there before us. We had our dog and baby in the stroller and let me tell you… it’s both dog friendly and kid friendly INSIDE and outside in the patio. Lauren informed us we can take our drinks beyond the counter into their patio and on the grounds just not in the street. She was super friendly and outgoing and came outside to us and gave our dog a homemade treat. Lauren was pouring wine flights and sangria telling everyone who was nearby about the menu board, the pours, pricing, and her girlfriend’s sangria recipe. She described the sangria as minimal, not over bearing with added fruits, it simply had the ginger ale ingredient to make it just right. She told us customers will wait in line in the cold and drink this when it’s snowing outside its that good. Good thing there was sunshine where we were sitting but the air was crisp and chilly still. You can keep their sangria cups and take them home as a souvenir. Next time you find yourself walking off the strip make sure you swing by The Blue Door Winery and try the sangria or wine. It’s family friendly, romantic date friendly, bachelorette friendly, locals and tourists friendly, dog friendly, everything friendly just go see Lauren she was awesome!

Best Sangria in town! Only Sangria in town… That I know of. But that’s okay because I know where you’re hiding! You’re down B Street. B for Booze! Friendly staff. Tasty wines. And delicious Sangria. You can drink out on the patio, or in one of the nearby wooden lawn chairs. It’s perfect if you have kids you need to keep an eye on. Keep the pours coming. See you again next year.

The owner of this establishment is really friendly and knowledgeable. She made us feel welcome and provided us with cheeses and salami to compliment the various wines. They have a cute outdoor area to sit and sip your wine as well. They have delicious sangria too! I would recommend this place!

Cute town with a cute place to wine taste. 5 pours for $ 10. Take your wine outside and sit on the quaint porch and enjoy your wine. Great place for a day-trip getaway.

Monday at noon the sangria was OUT and the woman greeting us was bothered when we entered since she was on her phone… maybe weekend is better

Upon seeing the great reviews on Unilocal,I went out of my way to find this place when I made a day trip to Julian with my family. Tucked away on a street with less foot traffic, the interior is quite simple but appealing. My first impression of this place wasn’t the best — I asked a lady behind the counter for a glass(or plastic cup, rather) of sangria, and she didn’t seem invested at all in serving me. In fact, she forgot and went on to talk to another group of people about wine. I was pretty annoyed. Fortunately, a really friendly man behind the counter came to help me out after I awkwardly stood there for a few minutes, and I finally got my cup. Later, the lady apologized for forgetting and also helped me find the key to the restroom(the store’s copy went missing), so I felt better. I’m sure the bartenders are super friendly, but service was a 3 star experience for me. The sangria itself was good– not too alcoholic(rather weak, actually) and quite refreshing and flavorful. I paid $ 7 for the cup. 4 stars. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Awesome sangria!!! After a thoroughly disappointing tasting at another winery, we didn’t want to pass this place up but were gun shy to go for a whole other tasting… but their homemade sangria sounded like it just might do the trick WELL worth it! Fruity & flavorful w/a nice prominence of ginger ale, this homemade recipe was the perfect remedy to the other winery debacle & allowed us to enjoy their adorable furry baby Sebastian, as well as the patio & fun music they were playing, on the lovely sunny day Alas, given we had to drive back to San Diego & had just had a tasting(elsewhere) plus a glass of their sangria, we didn’t want to go overboard & try out another full-flight tasting… but given a different day & another trip to Julian, Blue Door would definitely be on our list!

We were a little disappointed upon walking in to find out that a wine tasting was $ 10 for 6 tastes… and that there were only 4 wines to taste so you got to double try some wines. The lady behind the counter was extremely knowledgeable and got us super excited about each wine we were about to try. The wines were fabulous, had great bouquets and were quite complex in flavor. Would definitely recommend a visit to this tasting room.

My friend found Blue Door Winery on Unilocal when we visited Julian for Oktoberfest. It’s like Julian’s little secret… I love it! The bartenders were super friendly, and it felt like having a drink with friends in your own backyard. Blue Door is away from the hustle & bustle of Julian, with benches tucked away in the back to peacefully enjoy a nice cup of sangria. The sangria itself was very weak(we all expected stronger) but it was good, nevertheless. $ 7 for about 16 ounces of sangria. Plus you can keep the customized cup! They also have wine sampling, which we did not do, but it looked like fun. Perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring Julian.

This was a great stop. The wine is quite good, the sangria is out of this world, and the owners are really friendly. It’s a nice place to stop in and enjoy yourself with wine and friends!

HIGHLIGHTS: Sangria, Dog-friendly While walking on the main street in Julian, we saw a sign that said«Sangria» and walked right up the hill like it said. Blue Door Winery has a smallish tasting room and I love how the owner has decorated it. It’s so rustic, with scuffed wooden floors on the porch area, with barrels of hay and a nice big water bowl for the dogs. The owners dog, Sebastian, is a sweet little guy and roams the area as far as his leash will let him. He’s friendly, so if your dog is friendly you have nothing to worry about. Inside, the room is very open, with a side area with benches lining the wall. At our time of visit, the Sangria was $ 7 a cup. This recipe is the second best sangria I’ve ever had(second to the sangria at Cha Cha Cha in SF, and only because there wasn’t any fruit in my cup). It has such a delicious, fresh fruit-juice flavor. If I were making it at home, I might make it a little more boozy(don’t judge me, here) and add fruit to my cup. There’s just something about some fruit in your cup that makes sangria that much more enjoyable :) Overall, I would love to stop by the next time I’m up in Julian to do a wine tasting. They had some delicious sounding wines that I’d love to try: the Dolcetti and Petit Syrah are on the top of my list!

Unbelievably delicious red wines! If u like reds this adorable winery is a must stop when coming through Julian. $ 8 for 5 tastes or $ 12 to keep the very cool glass. Bright blue doors on the outside, clean and neat interior with walk up area for tastings. We came home with a bottle of red and couldn’t wait to open it when we got back to our cabin. One of the owners(I think her name was Carmen) was so knowledgable about their wines it was a pleasure talking with her. Added bonus for dog lovers, this is a dog friendly winery!!! So bring your furry companion and enjoy a few tastes you will be leaving with a bottle I guarantee it!!! Cheers!!!

Day trip to Julian to have some pies and wine tasting. We stumbled across Blue Door Winery because it was the closest to where we had lunch. Nice tasting room with that old western feeling atmosphere. They were serving REDS so I was happy to taste the wines. The owner/host was very knowledgable and explained each wine to us. $ 7 for 5 pours is a great deal. The pours are not that generous but that’s alright. The sangria was refreshing and seemed like it was juice. mmm My favorite wine was the Primitivo. On the exterior of the tasting room there’s a little bit of seating area. Tupac sat outside and enjoyed the cool breeze under the shade. I’m a cabernet drinker so as soon as they have a cab I will make my way up to Julian and do another wine tasting day.
