Amazing weekend! Linda is such a wonderful hostess and made great breakfast. The location is super close to julian but you get soooooo much more for the money. We stayed in the star gazer room which had really fun decorations. The property is just amazing! Even fed the Lammas.

We liked this place, great location and the breakfast served unique recipes which we enjoyed a lot but certain people are really non-adventurous and will probably seek your classic bacon and toast cuisine. The Llamas were fun to feed and we made it a point to see them every morning like any other pet. It is somewhat antiquated like any other b&b and there was no TV in your room which i hear is also common for a B&B. One thing we didnt like was we had a full size bed which can be a bit small for two people but that might just be a matter of us having the cheapest room.

Remember the story of Goldilocks & the 3 Bears? When looking for the perfect B&B in Julian, you can skip the too hot & too cold, too big & too small, and too hard & too soft… if you head directly to Wikiup Bed & Breakfast… because they got everything JUSTRIGHT! My girlfriend & I decided we needed an easy, romantic, & peaceful weekend getaway from our busy lives in SD. We decided a weekend in Julian might be just what the doc ordered. It’s a relatively short drive to get to that perfect setting… the combination of a quaint, small western mountain town… with lots of local flavor, wineries, shopping, mantiquing, outdoor activities, quality restaurants, and, of course, lots of pie! In the past we have visited for day trips, but we thought it might be fun to stay there for an entire weekend. So, being the diligent researchers that we are, we hit up TripAdvisor & Unilocal and after reading up on all the establishments, we zeroed in on Wikiup B&B. This turned out to be the perfect choice! We enjoyed everything about our stay, from the moment we got there until we were driving away. We didn’t want to leave! Our hosts, Linda & Lee are absolutely wonderful people & their attention to detail — our comfort & enjoyment — & fun, easygoing personalities are what make you fall in love with this place. We booked the Stargazer room… it’s just what we read about in all the other reviews: very private, quaint, quirky, fun, positive, comfortable, great amenities… It’s theme is truly inviting… it’s authentically retro without being retro… it’s fun & cheesy without actually being cheesy… it’s quaint & quirky without being quirky. Are you picking up what I am laying down? We loved the little Jacuzzi on our deck — very private but open to take in the nature around you. Breakfast! Usually my favorite meal of the day when I actually take the time for a proper one… which isn’t often… but at Wikiup, Linda’s breakfasts are amazeballs & most definitely the favorite meal of anyone’s day. Not just the food, which deserves it’s own Unilocal entry &5 star reviews, but the whole experience… from watching Linda & Lee interact &tell stories, getting to know your fellow guests, & experiencing the amazing meals, to getting myself in trouble for showing too much love to the perfectly trained & mannered cat who politely joins you at the table(in his own chair) for the promise of a treat at the end. Sorry Linda — I just couldn’t help it! Lots of other great things about Wikiup, but half the fun was the discovery. Just walking around the well-maintained property somehow makes you feel like a little kid on an Easter egg hunt. So much eye candy — the little touches give the place a magical feel. Lots of cozy romantic spots to sit down & enjoy the moment, the view, the colorful birds, the person with you. Taking a 20 second trek down to look at & feed the Llamas after breakfast always provided some kind of laugh & put a smile on our faces before setting out each day. I don’t write a lot of reviews, but I do READ a LOT of reviews… Kind of selfish of me if you think about it… but that tells you something about the fact that I felt so strongly about having such a great weekend that I felt compelled to write this. Very unselfish of me if you think about it — after all, I KNOW we’ll be going back & I don’t want rooms to always be booked by all of you when we decide at the last minute to pop out for the weekend! I want to end this review with one last thought. I always read these reviews where people say they stayed here or there & their host instantly felt like family or they felt like they had known them their whole lives. Maybe it’s the cynic in me… or maybe you read those reviews &, like me, roll your eyes a little bit & internally poo-poo the notion. I’ve traveled the world, met a lot of people, had a lot of hosts & innkeepers that I really liked a lot… but never could say that they instantly felt like family to me. Until now. As we were driving away, I paused my Jeep at the end of the driveway & turned to my girlfriend & expressed that very thought…& she nodded emphatically & agreed with me. Linda has this way of not just instantly putting you at ease, but her sparkle & sharp, fun wit cut right to the chase: You are not just some paying guest staying there… it’s more like Welcome home, where the heck have you been?, Hi You, it’s so good to see you again(for the first time), Did you wipe your feet?, I wish you could stay longer, I hope you brought an appetite & a sense of humor & are ready to enjoy yourself, What have you been up to since I saw you last(never), & What can I do to make things better? It’s like she’s my favorite aunt(no offense Aunt Janice) and, more importantly, I truly felt like I’ve always known her and was there for a much-anticipated visit with a family member I enjoy and choose to be around! Quit rolling your eyes at me you heartless cynics and go to Wikiup and see for yourselves!

Seriously, if you stay at the Wickiup, you’ve hit the jackpot! Lee and Linda are the proprietors of this B&B and they are absolutely the nicest people you could meet. They are both warm and gracious and they easily make you feel like one of the family, not just a guest. The breakfasts — oh, the breakfasts! Words can’t describe how delicious they are. There are many things to do in the area, or you can choose to do nothing at all. This was our first stay at a B & B and we really felt like we lucked out. The country ambiance was relaxing. The B & B is surrounded by oak trees and manzanita. There are hummingbirds, llamas, a sweet Newfoundland dog and a cool cat by the name of Kimo to keep you company. I don’t feel it necessary to repeat what other reviewers have said, except to agree with them wholeheartedly. We’d love to go back. If you decide to go ahead and book, you won’t regret it!

My husband and I booked a weekend getaway at the Wikiup for our anniversary. We absolutely loved it there. The Stargazer room we booked in particular was a gem, as it was very private, and set back from the rest of the rooms. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor hot tub that came with our room! We also booked a llama trek, run by co-owner Lee. You get to hike with the llamas to a local winery, enjoy lunch, get a wine tasting, and a bottle of wine to take back with you. It was so fun, and definitely something«different» to do! And, as many others have noted, the breakfast really is out of this world. GREAT find, and we look forward to returning soon!

My husband and I have been visiting Wikiup for many years and we always have a terrific experience! We love the fact that, even though it’s only about a minute’s drive from downtown Julian, its wooded hillside location makes you feel miles away from civilization(in the best possible way). Each room has a different theme and is decorated with lots of charm and attention to detail. We stayed in our favorite room that has a two-person Jacuzzi-style tub(which was a godsend after our long hike), a sitting area with a gas fireplace, and a comfy featherbed with plenty of cozy quilts. Breakfast every morning was amazing! Linda tried a new recipe last weekend: Blueberry and cream cheese stuffed French toast. We hope she adds it into the usual rotation! Regular made-from-scratch menu items include ham and veggie frittatas, caramel glazed French toast, applewood sausage, and egg soufflés. There’s also a cinnamon baked apple, a poached pear, or a big bowl of fresh fruit to start you off. The beautiful common room is open all day and is stocked with books, games, music CD’s(guest rooms have CD players), and movies to watch on the tv/DVD player. Lee and Linda also supply coffee and add-ins, a variety of teas, hot cider mix, and hot chocolate so that you can make yourself a cup of whatever floats your boat. Two covered cake plates full of baked goods are always available, too. Best of all, Linda and Lee welcome every guest like a favorite family member. Once again, we felt pampered and well cared for during our entire stay.

This was the best bed and breakfast experience, ever! This was my wife’s first stay at any B&B and I’m afraid Wikiup has set the bar high for her in future B&B stays. They have themed rooms, each with their own unique perks(choose one that matches your personality). I’m sure my review will apply to the other rooms so I’m going to refrain from divulging our choice! We stayed for two nights. You don’t have to bring any amenities since the room is stocked with everything you can imagine you would need for your stay. My wife was delighted by their Korean brand make-up remover and I did not hesitate to use their wine glasses and cork opener. Linda and Lee are exceptional hosts and they both possess a great mix of humor, warmth and hospitality. Their homemade breakfasts were phenomenal! My wife and I found ourselves looking forward to the next morning’s breakfast. Linda will be more than happy to share her recipe. The rooms were spotless — not even a speck of dust or cobwebs even in their closet shelving area(I checked because I couldn’t believe just how clean everything was). We adored our room’s antique furniture and fixtures(water closet, anyone?). We chose a room with our own private hot tub(check availability when choosing a theme). The hot tub is a MUST, especially in the winter. My wife and I enjoyed the hot tub our first night and the following day when we watched the sun set over the forest. We are convinced we will someday buy our own similar hot tub because of this experiences. Hats off to Lee and Linda! They obviously put a lot of heart into their B&B and it showed throughout our stay!

Just got back from our first B&B experience and it was wonderful! We are so glad we chose Wikiup B&B. The inn keepers Lee and Linda are so sweet … breakfast was to die for and the room we had was just lovely. Every room has a unique décor, we stayed in the Warren Willow room… aside from the cute and charming décor, the room was immaculate clean. Thank you Wikiup for this amazing experience.

Can’t wait to return.

We won a gift certificate to Wikiup in a Silent Auction at the CA Wolf Center, so we were excited to use it for a quick weekend getaway, and this place definitely exceeded our expectations! We stayed in the willow room; cozy room, romantic twinkly lights, jacuzzi bathtub for two, fireplace with rocking chairs, all the makings of a restful and much needed relaxation. We were lucky enough to be the only attendants for breakfast the next morning, so we were able to chat with Linda about the history of the llamas, and eat delicious breakfast and drink coffee. Feeding the llamas was really fun! Overall, we had a great time!

Where can I begin? I don’t know it was all so amazing it’s hard to pinpoint specifics, but I will try. The room: We stayed in the willow barren room. Bunnies bunnies everywhere, bunnies bunnies in your hair. The room was bunny themed. Bunnies all over the place. Very cute. My wife thought it was great. The room was very clean. It had a huge jacuzzi tub, fireplace, kitchenette, comfy bed and all the trimmings. We got a romance package so there was a basket of chocolates, soaps, Roses and sparkling cider waiting for us when we arrived. The Inn: The place is set back on the mountain, really quiet and peaceful. The perfect place to get away from it all. They have llamas that you can feed, the sweetest cat kimo and drifty their big lovable noofy. Walking around there felt like you were in your home away from home. Truly one of the best B&B experiences I’ve ever had. The service: Linda & Lee are such sweet, gracious hosts. They were more like your loving grandparents than inn keepers. Everything they did was done with heart and you can tell that they really took pleasure in seeing people relaxed and happy. They enjoyed our company as much as we enjoyed theirs. Exchanging interesting stories and sitting together for breakfast. The food: Man they can cook! Each breakfast was unique and delicious. From the soufflé to the pumpkin filled french toast. Just perfection. Overall: You couldn’t ask for a better experience! We will be back here again and again as long as this place exists.

We really wanted to get away and just relax and this was the perfect place. Wonderful full breakfast that made the beginning of everyday special. We stayed in the Stargazer room. An astronomy themed room with a skylight and a private Jacuzzi outside. There was a small fridge and a microwave and coffeemaker. Plenty of plates, utensils and glassware. The robes provided were soft and plush and the towels for the Jacuzzi big enough to feel wrapped up in. Linda and Lee were wonderful hosts. We look forward to coming back.

This was our first bread and breakfast, our skyview room was amazing, I totally recommend this it seems the owners are selling the property I hope the next owners if they decide to keep the business going will do as good as Linda and lee, the only strong recommendation I have is bring water, food to munch on because nothing is open after 8 in the whole town, and for summer mosquito repellent, we also loved the big dog they have and the cat and the lamas.

This place is amazing!!! We had such a great time. Linda and Lee are absolutely the best. We stayed in the Shady Lady room. Everything was perfect. We loved how the linens and towels smelled so clean and fresh. The breakfast was so tasty and beautifully presented. It was fun meeting the other guests and chatting about their experiences staying there also. Everyone had nothing but good to say about their visit. The grounds and just beautiful with humming birds flying around. Many places to just sit and hang around to relax via park bench or bench swing. The llamas are friendly too. The cedar hot tub heated by real wood fire topped it all off like icing on the cake. I give a 110% recommendation to give this place a try. You will fall in love too.

A truly wonderful experience. We stayed in the Star Gazer room and the private hot tub was an awesome touch on an unexpectedly cold May evening. The breakfast served in the morning is truly exceptional, and you have access to tea and coffee throughout the day and a selection of desserts in the afternoon. The best part for us, however, was reading on the swing out by the small pond in the back of the property. Amazing views and total peace and quiet.

This place is absolutely wonderful! We stayed for 2 nights in the StarGazer Room, & it was seriously perfect. We were the only guests there, so it really felt like we were getting the special treatment! The room had a hot tub, sitting on the private deck. The amenities offered were great as well, lots of towels, comfy robes, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, dinner plates, silver wear & so much more. We had a blast with all of the different lighting, especially the moon phase light! Linda & Lee are truly amazing. They made us feel so comfortable, & at home. It was really nice to sit, eat breakfast, & enjoy a great conversation with them. It felt like we’ve made some awesome friends! The breakfast that Linda served was very very tasty. We were so happy to wake up each morning knowing that there would be a hot breakfast waiting for us! The common room/living room is really interesting. We spent quite a while looking through all of the books & little trinkets they had around!(There’s also a GIANT binder with everything you could possibly do/eat in Julian. Very very helpful!) DON’T FORGETABOUTTHELLAMAS(Scottie & Willie)…& Drifty the bear like Newfy…& Kemo the cat…& Zoe the Amazon! I can’t express enough how stinkin’ awesome it was to hang out with all of their pets. Don’t stop petting Drifty while talking to Lee & Linda though, she will nudge you until you remember to rub her ears! There’s a bucket of Llama treats with little baggies waiting at the front door. Feeding them was an interesting experience! Thank you so much to Linda & Lee for making this mini-vacation truly wonderful. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights this past weekend for our 2nd anniversary. We stayed in the dream catcher room. We loved absolutely EVERYTHING about it. Linda and Lee made us feel so at home, more at home than I’ve ever felt, since moving to Cali. If your going to stay in Julian then Wikiup is a must for you. My dog LOVED her llamas, she kept licking their faces. It was such a joy being there!

Five stars are not enough. I’d give them the same stars that appear in the crisp clear night sky. IN October — the Milky Way is directly over! What is NOT to like: Stayed in Rose’s Secret. No TV. No Wi-Fi. Total escape. This is what we were looking for – escape. We had to remind ourselves that home was only an hour away; yet the Wikiup seemed a continent! The place is wonderful. Pros: Llamas! Newy! Cats! Birds o’plenty! Accommodations are purrrrrrrfect Breakfast: OUTSTANDING The room ‘Rose’s Secret’ is outstanding. Everything was in order, perfect — quiet and secluded. Quiet. Secluded. Beautiful. Use Linda or Lee for local recommendations. They can make calls to get you in the popular places. Cons: Had to leave. A stay is a phone call away.
