The pizza dough is good. I suggest just ordering the prepped pizzas that they have on display because adding toppings to those you will get raw veggie toppings. They’re friendly here though. I will give it another try. Cute place. they charge .50 for transactions less than $ 10. But very affordable prices.

It is slow. Accept it and either call ahead or get comfortable, because it is worth the wait. If you want fast, head to Little Caesar’s in Yucca Valley. Lots of interesting, weird, creative, and tasty combinations. This place is quintessential Joshua Tree. Don’t forget to try a canoli!

We were at 29 Palms visiting our son before he deployed and wanted pizza that night. Our son told us to go to a place in town and we asked the desk clerk at the Sleepy Turtle where we were staying where it was at. A Master Guns over heard us and followed us out the door. He told us if you want a better pizza to take a bit of a drive to Joshua Tree up the road and go to Pie For The People. I had seen it driving by a couple times but didn’t realize it was a pizza place. Glad that we came, the pizza was every bit as good as he said it was. About the only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is the flies. As has been mentioned on here before during the warmer months the flies can get pretty bad. Not sure why they congregate here but they seen to. Other then that small annoyance this is a great place.

Damn good pizza for California, closest I’ve found to NY. The caprese was great so was the cheese. If you ain’t folding it you’re not eating it right.

This place had been on my to-do list for awhile. It’s a treat to have a place that serves quality New York size pizza by the slice. The options were plenty and the pizzas were huge. They had 3 vegetarian options as well.(I’ll miss CA for this reason when I leave!) my pizza had jalapeños, artichokes, and green peppers.(Not sure if it was maybe a pesto sauce or not but it wasn’t red) The slice wasn’t soggy at all which was great, and I enjoyed my solo trip.

Best pie I’ve had in socal since moving here 6 months ago. I thought I would have to open my own shop there for a while but no need. Nice thin crust good looking chef and awsome trimmings and service.

I hate to leave a review that is short of 5 stars. But, because of a communication issue with my delivery order I see no choice. The food is GOOD. The food is not in question. I’m from Connecticut and finding NY style pizza has been a chore since living in California. My autistic son who will be 3 next month also ONLY eats pizza from this restaurant. He won’t eat pizza from anywhere else. My son and I tried the Bada Bing pizza and my husband ordered a calzone and per usual there was no disappointment in the food. We also ordered 3/$ 5 cannolis. So, onto the problem. We have only used the delivery option this one time. It was football Sunday, and we both didn’t want to leave home it was a lazy day. Pie for the people is only 5 minutes from us. After waiting for over an hour we called to check the status of our delivery. Our response from the girl who answered«someone went there, knocked on the door, and called you and we didn’t get a response.» That’s interesting because I know that no one knocked on the door and NOONE called us. The call is transferred over to the manager. He explained that the delivery driver went to our apartment managers door and knocked because for whatever reason they did not write our apartment number on the order(it’s a Sunday my manager is not going to answer the door). Even though I’m 100% certain we told the cashier the apartment number upon order. All the delivery driver had to do was call us and ask which apartment we were in. And apparently this delivery driver told a blatant lie, because no one ever tried to call us. Mind you, we paid for our food already with a debit card over the phone. And as a clock ticks… Your food is getting cold and not nearly as fresh. Especially the cannolis(although those will get warm and soggy). I love this food, my family loves this food. But, maybe they shouldn’t offer a delivery option until the communication is to par. Maybe they need someone to handle phone calls for orders and delivery and a separate person to handle the front walk-in customers, because I know this is a busy establishment. I’m going to try the delivery option again in the future just to see if they make the same mistake. Judging by another review I read here, delivery does seem to be their downfall.

My favorite stop for a quick lunch here in Joshua Tree for a delicious slice of their New York style thin crust pepperoni pizza. Big portion, delicious taste, thin crust(somewhat malleable vs. more brittle). This is similar to the pie pieces sold at Whole Foods market in Palm Desert, but as far asI know is made on the premises. I’ve eaten here four or five times, with a cross section of locals and visitors. It bears the closest resemblance to New York City style thin crust pies that I know of here in California! Highly Recommended. There is an indoor and outdoor eating area. My only slight complaint: I prefer to use a knife and fork – to eat my piece of pie. I looked for metal utensils but saw none, so it means oily fingers for those of us less adroit than others in handling the pie. Love the name. And all the good-natured humor abundant in this small, high desert town known for a funny looking Tree!

DELICIOUS pizza & great service. We ordered a large calzone, and it is by far the best calzone I have ever tasted. The wait for it was long, but understandable because it was a busy night for them. The girls who were in charge or ordering and serving were extremely professional and kind despite the chaotic busy hour.

I like how you can order huge slices to go after a visit to JTNP! I don’t think this is available any where else close by. We ordered a large cheese pizza recently for all most 19.00! No toppings just a plain cheese was about 19.00. The pizza is decent but the sauce could be improved upon. Crust and cheese are good. I quit going here during the warmer months due to fly problem they had every time I went flys were in the pizza case and buzzing around the store. Thankfully during the winter minths the dreaded flys disappeared. All in all the pizza is huge but overpriced. Its worth a try if you are visiting JTNP.

So, we were all absolutely starving after a day of hiking when we arrived. Pizza sounded perfect! Apparently we weren’t the only ones with this idea. We walked in and it was crazy busy: nowhere to sit, line to order to the door. Ordering processes wasn’t initially clear; is this a sit down & order place or take your stuff & sit down? The cashier was very nice, and helped us out. After paying she told us there would be a 45 minute wait. Yikes. We finally snagged a table and hunkered down to wait for our pie. Very fresh and veggie filled salad came out first, which helped with the wait. Unfortunately, we had a bit of order miscommunication so the pizza we ended up with wasn’t quite what we thought we ordered, but we dealt with it. Can’t wait another 45. We were starving, remember? When our pizza came out, we grabbed slices and the cheese slid off; the middle was undercooked, mushy & wet from the veggies — or — just not done completely. Unfortunately, the bottom edges to about 2 inches in was all burnt black, so cooking for longer wasn’t an option. Ugh. In spite of this, the flavor was a-ok. Nothing to write home about, but then again, we’re from NY, so our pizza standards are high. You do have to bus your own table and they provide free water(nice in the desert). The trash can was overflowing which wasn’t so great. It was very busy for a week night and they seemed overwhelmed so I will give this place a bit of leeway for mistakes. But on the whole — with the excessive wait time, mistake on the pizza toppings, and unbalanced cooking job, can’t give more than three stars. On the plus side, the staff was friendly, the carved wood tables are lovely, there’s a nice mural on the wall inside, and plenty of seating outside(if the weather’s cooperative).

I felt like I was at a version of Chuck E Cheese in Joshua Tree because there were kids EVERYWHERE. Haha I didn’t mind it but because the inside seating was small it was pretty crazy. Not sure if it was flooded with a bunch of them because it was Sunday night and parents wanted to take a break so they came here or if this place was always filled with munchkins. This place also has a wonderful outside patio but in late November it’s pretty nippy out so eating outside wasn’t an option. We played musical chairs before we could sit and have a table for two. It’s a tight squeeze and dinner time is pretty packed. We ordered 2 slices of pepperoni, 2 garlic knots w/marinara and a Sprite which all came out to be a little over $ 9. The pizza slices were as big as my torso. Not even kidding. I couldn’t believe it. Haha my boyfriend thought it was too much pizza for a slice but I enjoyed it. The pepperoni’s are very large also. I think this place just likes it big. Haha The knots were great and the side of marinara it came with was a generous size. The only thing To really call out was the fact that they were out of water and there was a big puddle on the ground where the water filter lived. It was messy but it didn’t bother me. I assumed the kids did it. lol but none of the workers cleaned up while we were there. If you’re a tourist check it out but summer seems like it would be a better place so you have the option to eat outside.

Was visiting Joshua Tree and was in the mood for pizza. A 4-person mini-roadtrip to end on a cold Fall/Winter-ish night with a nice big pizza pie seemed like a nice cap to a fun time. Looking outside in, the place looked full. People crammed in like sardines. The smell of pizza, however, was intoxicating. The price was right. $ 20-something for an extra large pizza? Yeah. 4 hungry patrons were ready to welcome it with open arms. I added 20 extra stars to the fact that alcohol is permitted here. I noticed wine bottles open, a table with a 6 pack of Blue Moon across the way… We had a cooler full of beer that had barely been touched. I asked one of the cashiers and she said that we could bring in our own alcohol. She even recommended a liquor store right next door. My mouth almost dropped. I forget sometimes that outside of Los Angeles, people can be generally nice and have fun businesses that don’t frown on this type of behavior. Instead of charging a $ 30 corking fee, this place just apologizes and says they don’t have wine openers. If I come back to Joshua Tree, I will for sure come back here. Oh. And the pizza was amazing.(My prioriteis are straight, focusing on booze instead of food.)

I believe I had the David Bowie here… caramelized onions, pineapple, bacon, jalapeños. Just ordered a slice, but wish I had the whole pie. It was DELISH. I tried my friend’s other pizzas and they were tasty but not as good as mine :) As with some other reviews, yes service is slow. Your best bet is to just order a slice from their pre-made case and they just heat it up. That ended up being pretty quick, but it’s also not a labored process. For the whole pie, they said it would take at least 30 min, but from what I saw and read, it probably would have been longer. Besides that, they were out of water when we came. and were out of water when we left(even after I asked for it to be refilled). Just don’t expect them to help you after you order your pizza… so, cafeteria style?

These are BIG slices! Which we greatly appreciated after the trek to the 49 Palms Oasis in the blazing hot morning sun. It’s pretty good too. The friendly gal at the 29 Palms Visitor center told us it was better than«city pizza». The night before in LA we did indeed have some city pizza and it was rubbish(and since she sent us to Joshua Tree, I’m guessing it’s better than 29 Palms Rocky’s). I’ve had better gelato but it was fine. Def worth the $ 1.50 or whatever it was in the desert heat! Lots of tables, and I didn’t go out back to the patio, but that looked like a nice place to sit too.

I loved my slice(s) of Bowie with those Guinness-caramelized onions. Thin-crusted perfection! We’ve been here twice with our 7-month old baby and appreciate the all-around cleanliness. Even the high chair was clean. In our short experience with taking our baby out this has been a rarity. The little courtyard was awesome! We feel like we’ve found our spot in the high desert. We were kinda chased out when some dude lit up a cigarette with our baby just a few feet away in the smallest space within the courtyard. How rude, lazy, inconsiderate, self-absorbed, etc. There was a smoking area not so far away~ He didn’t seem to be a patron of any of the businesses there. We’re not sure if that’s the norm, hoping no. That’s my only complaint and it doesn’t reflect on Pie for the People. You ought to go here.

:(sadness. Judging by the pictures I didn’t get that big of a slice like the others Unilocalers had in the past. I know, I’m Greedy, but i’m serious about my pizza… Lol I believe I came to this place right after leaving Joshua tree national park, it was on the way back to our hotel. When we stopped by it was actually packed. We had to park in the back due to no parking spaces on the side. I believe we were the 4th group in line and it took over 15 mins to get to the front. We didn’t want to get a whole pizza for two people so we opted for two slices instead. I forgot what they were called, but i got something with chicken and pesto sauce and the other one was pepperoni and mushrooms. Both pizzas had to be heated up and that took another 8 mins. Don’t get me wrong, the pizza were wonderful and tasted great, but i don’t know if the wait was totally worth it. I’ll come back if there’s no line or I’m super starving after leaving the park. I saw that there’s a nice back patio, maybe I’ll have to check it out.
