I’ve been using products from The Body Shop on and off since the line first opened stores in NYC, back in the late 1980s… yep, I’m old. Anyway, now that TBS seems to have closed several of its Manhattan locations, I made a stop at the Newport location in JC and then went back a few weeks later. The products are the same as every other TBS, and I like some more than others (the body butters and shower gels are favorites of mine, and my husband likes the Maca Root men’s line). What sets this store apart for me is the excellent customer service. The staff are very helpful and positive, but not too pushy. And on my latest visit, a sales associate was extremely helpful when I was looking for a soon-​to-​be-​discontinued item, and she even recommended another product I might like and gave me a little sample. I *enjoy* shopping here, and that’s important to me.

Located in the Newport Mall on the second level, this shop was manned by Aaron — a very chatty, but effective salesman who was helping everyone at once!
Buy 3 get 2 free or buy 2 get 1 free going on at the moment. The baskets are woven with a wooden handle. they aim to feel organic? We’re giving the shampoo a try, will see how it comes out (at least the Rainforest one smells light and fresh — no sulfates inside).
